Lost for words......(fill in yourself if its good or bad) but it seems a lot of people are happy with the current quality of skin painting.

 

Please stop with those complete wrong renders as my monitor is about to explode. The wheels are just a joke and for the record, its Keith Murdoch (with an added H to his last name).

 

Comments: Font for numbers need to be changed.

I think that the brand name Porsche is wrongly spelled it says Porche.

I am missing a lot of signs (top of wing, bonnet) plus a couple of signs are just plain wrong. Like the chevrolet logo. The real car has a solid filled chevy logo with 383 in it whereas you have an outlined logo.

 

You might have caught me on a bad moment but I just don't understand why some people don't have a closer look at the real life car and copy the things the right way. It's great that you try to create your own decals and signs but I think you would be better of by cut and paste from a real picture, at least then the signs and font are right.

 

A quick rush job to paint a real life skin, put the car on the forum and get comments like "very good" from people who don't know how the actual car looks like seems to be the general idea here nowadays. Problem is that the skinpainter in question will never learn from his mistakes that way when those people keep on commentating that way. I am not planning to comment on every car posted here as I do have seen some good copies of real life skins.

Good idea of using a list, I'll copy that:

1) Your still wrong as it is Murdoch but then again, I am just a spectator who just looks at a real life picture and reads the name thats written at his mud gard on the screen where it reads "Keith "Howling mad" Murdoch". But hey it seems you know him a bit better that you can call him Murdock

2) Why do a car when you don't have enough pictures for the signs?

3) If you painted it for a lad, than why post it here and ask for comments?

Last) You asked for comments and so I did, so that gives me the right. That you don't like these comments is not my problem, try to learn from them and make some better skins. His first attempt at a real life skin!! No1 makes a perfect real life skin on there 1st attempt.

 

Just remember when you started painting you were probably the same as him!! and you improved over the years. just like he will and many others.

It always surprises me that when people ask for comments about their skins and once they receive comments that are not in terms of "cracking, great skins, well done etc etc." they are quick off the mark to say that someone is "flaming" them down or is "talking crap".

 

Try to improve the painting skills with the comments made. Like you said it's your first real life skin and render an all things are hard to learn. But don't go shouting when you ask for comments when those comments are not what you had hoped for.

Do you know what the signs say on bonnet and roof ?? Can you find a good picture?

I would have taken it the right way and would try to improve my skinpainting from the comments made. First see if they are true and than ask what more I could change to get a better skin

Dragon is right mini tetz .. indeed the skin is good for a first attempt but ..

 

1. Why not wait till the car is racing again somewhere and take your camera and make

pictures of them signs ..

 

2. Why not asking the lad who requested the skin for some clearer pictures, if he is a member

of team 175 he should have acces to the car or having contact with people who deffo have .

 

3. Why not asking on forums like pewi or maybe even stoxnet if people have pictures of the

car in question.

 

These post arent meant to slag people off and i'm sure Dragons post also isnt, you just have to

see it as constructive critisism. Dragon is an experienced painter and he knows what he's talking

about .. saying things like "Who gives you the right to flame me?" arent the right things to say to people

where you can learn from.

 

PS .. the name is deffo Keith Murdoch

Excuse me, but you have no right to go around distributing the ogden.car file to anyone, it is only available from UKDirtF1 and should not be redistributed to anybody, at least not without my permission, which you have not even had the decency to ask for to just render the car.

 

Despite what people seem to think, not everything on the internet is free for thier taking, yes i've released the Ogden in a 'free' download, but the fact you've not even had the decency to ask about permission before redistributing is just plain bad manners.

 

This thread also made me laugh, you asked for comments and took complete offence to the first bad one.

The skin is now looking much better, although the chassis choice is questionable, despite MoR's excellent job creating it. Maybe the speak chassis would look better i don't know.

 

I agree with Dragon some efforts do look poor and Dragon probably didn't know it was your first attempt. When i ask for comments on mine, sometimes i do get bad ones but i don't erupt, i just make changes.

I can see where you are coming from Munster and maybe you are right but from the above quote I can't see any of those comments been made by me in my original first post nor where I "blasted" him?.

 

I did not say that his skin was crap and a waste of doing. I did say that things were wrong yes.

I pointed out where I think things are wrong, plus I am giving him some advice on the skinpaiting stuff by saying that he needs to have a closer look on the real life car and maybe opt for the cut and past options from real life skins.

My last phrase is a comment in general and not directly pointed at MiNi Tetz.

 

But you are right, he is 15 so I'll have to post positive stuff. Could you please tell me what the age is where I am allowed to post a reply as in my original post (as looking from the reply's that must be some mean, nasty and rude post)?

 

I did think before I wrote it down, just like I do now. When someone (like me) writes something that doesn't fit into the "be positive" street you get the stamp of "he's having a bad attitude". It looks like you are only allowed to post all bright and sunshine on this forum otherwise you "have an attitude".
