in principal yes great idea in reality it's a waste of time..the government will brush it off saying its not us its OPEC..... remember the publicans with the No Smoking ban? 1000s of signatures on petitions saying it will affect their business and yes some pubs have closed causing people to loose their livelihood. remember this back in 2000? nothing was achieved.. unfortunately todays Robin hood has no chance against sheriff Brown and his bunch of lying cheating thieving scumbags. In 2000 the govt said yes we are listening to you but behind closed doors they were laughing. they still got their theft payments of fuel duty they got them faster with all the panic buying. Untill the govt drops 1 of the 2 taxes on fuel nothing will change. :3::3::3:

Petrol prices are never gonna drop, and petitions/protests don't matter a toss to the governemnt, after all, look how many protested against the war and Toney Blair still went full steam ahead.

The best way to get action is to do somthing, like the fuel blockades of 2000, that made a difference, even if only for a short while, plus it was somthing interesting on the news!! lol

As a nation we should do something collectively, for example.....everybody not use any transport where fuel taxes are in place until taxes are dropped. That should bring Britain to a suitable sand still enough to make the government take notice, but of course it will never happen, as 90% of this country are people who don't give a toss and will do as the government say everytime.

And who is gonna ay my bills and every other persons bills who rely on their cars or motorbikes to get them to work in the morning if they took the actions you mentioned kruiz as i for 1 aint prepared to walk a 20+ mile round trip to work every day till something gets done about the fuel prices.

Problem is these "green" people who don't realise that people need cars to get around, don't realise that cars have made only 3% or something small like that difference to the planets atmosphere as clarkson proved, and that the planet is destroying it's self don't they realise that there's already been an iceage etc and im bloody certain dinosaurs were'nt driving round in toyota landcruisers going through macdonalds drive throughs then destroying the atmosphere. History is repeating it's self and there nothing them idiots can do to help it. We seem to be the unlucky one england, scotland, ireland etc. We seem to be trying to tackle the pollution shiz all by ourselves and the stupidity of the goverment don't realise what people want. So imo they should take a step back and think what do people want. I think we should blow up parliment it's FILTERED, they don't seem to give a toss what people want or need if they say it's happening it must happening they tax every bloody thing they can... And i can go on ;)

cheers lol

well i for one will be at grangemouth on saturday morning at 10am at ineos aka bp to show my support and i've seen what others have said about nothing will get done but i am an hgv driver and yes my boss will benefit the most from the tax on fuel being reduced but i also have 3 cars in the family and i'm getting brassed off putting money in gordon broons government so as they say nothing ventured nothing gained and i was there in 2000 too when they nearly had blairs govement by the nuts

SO GET OFF YER BUTTS AND GO AND SHOW SOME SUPPRORT cos if more people turned up rather than saying nowt will get done and i mean ordinary car drivers too things might start happening and the brown clown might see people are fed up with it and go and register on the transaction-2007 website lads

Yes samson I do realise people use transport to get to work...thats the point, it would only take 2 or 3 days for the government to get the idea, if nobody used their vehicles or went to work. Still, it won't happen..

Parky posted about the french.. thats what I was getting at, it works there why not here?

I think the problem is that won't get everyone to 'say no', alot of them don't care/won't bother over here.

I'd also agree that the Scotland, England etc are 'going up the knackers yard', although the reason we are having to deal with pollution ourselves is because we're the only ones daft enough to do so. They can bitch about cars all they like, but even if we all switched to using electric crap to get around, the Chinkies will continue burning oil so what's the point?

I can see the point in protests but still don't think anything would be done after the protests are finished.

In the real world, if the government reduces tax on petrol then they'll just increase tax on something else such as put VAT upto 20%, an extra penny on income tax, put 10p extra on a pint etc to pay for the shortfall.

Either that or they kill off the NHS and make us pay for insurance such as what happens in the United States, Bin the armed forces and rely on the United States/NATO/UN, don't allow any immigrants into the country which is illegal based on treaties this country has signed upto via the EU, get rid of benefits to the sick etc etc.

The airline industry, the USA, China and India produces massive amounts of CO2, the difference people in the UK driving SUV's makes is absolutely minute, its not worth bothering about.

Technically we are still in an ice age (as there is ice at the polls) Due to the way the earth rotates around the sun through varying cycles through out time ice ages come and go, yes, the ice may be melting faster then in the earths recent history, but in however many thousand years time most of the UK will be under tons of ice again!

The government needs lots of money to run the country cause its in trouble, such as the NHS and people scrounging off the government like jobless people and immagrants. The easy way to get more money is to increase the the price of petrol, but they butter it up by saying "its to reduce emmisions for the planet" Bull s**t
