UPDATE:

The Rover proved to be a good motor, netting 2nd in Arena's Sunday Segto Final (cheesy trophy waving photo is on RTS website!) and was still running strong so we loaded her up and drove straight down to Wimbledon for that evenings figure of 8 bash. Gentle persuasion overcame Ray Woods initial refusal to let me race, he correctly identified Arena mud on the motor and had a "You dared to race elsewhere!" wobbly :188: . I got out for the second race and the final, where a broken steering column finally ended a long and very enjoyable day. The rover was still running strong (rated bilge imo) back at the yard despite A,B and C pillars all showing signs of wear :), but the steering damage was terminal. The Maestro is now built, with bolts and washers holding shut door frames and boot, not much difference in strengh to welding IMO, these Spedeworth "Rookie" rules let us build fairly strong motors these days with rads fanned up and hidden at the back of the engine bay. Next outing mid march.
