It was great to see a healthy turnout of cars on UK Dirt F1’s biggest night of the season. Thanks must first of all go to everyone who helped me out during the meeting which meant that it finished at the time which we aimed for. So thank you to the stewards and the Admin Team. I am not 100% sure how the race went but when he passed me, he had DanSkin for company so I assume it was a pretty interesting race. Mav Posted September 16, 2011 Report Share Posted September 16, 2011 WELL DONE MIKE Having watched the WF race this morning with Kev, I am chuffed at how my race went, although disappointed that I ended up 20th out of 24. At half way point I was up to 12th, but then the bumper blues showed up and I went backwards. It was extremely difficult to concentrate on my driving, as well as working out who I was racing against, who was a lap down, who was a lap up and where the leaders were!!! I thought I did myself proud being the only yellow top in the race - I enjoyed it As for the meeting itself, heats went perfect, happy with two seconds, and the final was 5 laps away from being perfect too, but Waqar saw to it that I went from 2nd to last when I was forced into the tyres ala Stuart Smith Jnr in 2008. Real shame but that is racing. GN was a good race too, I knew that Green would catch me as he was the only blue. I raced him and Drumstick best I could and stayed with them for awhile. Managed to hold onto 5th for most of the race only to pass Swish on the last lap - so 4th was a great success and this was all on the laptop too!!! Jnr on the other hand couldn't get it hooked up properly, Blymn causing Jnr to spin out of the Consi Semi, and then various incidents in the heats, Jnr went into the Consi. He drove well and qualified for the final, but didn't hold out for a position. GN he drove steady and finished 5th. Very well handled through traffic and well held last bend. Very disappointed personally to be so close for the entire race but unable to really do anything about it. Not had chance to watch the race yet but sounds like he withstood race long pressure from DanSkin. From a personal point of view, my race was ok - I still can't get out of the rut whereby I only seem to manage to get the lead in the WFs for half a lap! I got bogged down in the mid-pack in the early laps which pretty much put an end to my race (not sure what the point was tbh - at one point 3 of us had made a break for 3rd or 4th but the hits still kept coming when there could've been a chance to chase the leaders down...). Not the end of the world though, and the decent, fair race that followed was very much welcomed, albeit it felt like shale after the early laps had shredded the tyres! I was a little bit sceptical about how the meeting would pan out after the demo-derby that was practice, but it actually turned out to be ok, with some decent races (although the extra cars in the final seemed to tip the race quality a little bit). Apologies to Dazza for being a pain in his side all night (he got me back in the final though, forcing me to reverse over the line for 10th!) and well done to green for winning his second NIR final. I was shaking like mad from the start till the end haha. Good race Dan, unlucky for you, you came very close, andt you made me very nervous all race long haha. Thanks for the backmarkers who moved over and to the admin for the meeting and the great preview. And ofcourse thanks alot to MoR for these really AMAZING skins. They look awesome!
