  1. Thanks to all guys for posting what you plan to race this year. I will work out some sort of system to allocate points between different formulas to make it fair. Seeing as my entry to this Sundays meeting at Wimbledon has been withdrawn due to no transport again, I'll work on this tomorrow. Any Last entries? Good Luck to All in 2005, and hope to see most of you at a meeting at least once.... (Sorry Milkman aint travelling 500 miles to watch you )
  2. A bit of a shameless plug for Damo's forum....it is another home for discussions on real life racing, but also covers the majority of the formulae you and I go to watch.... So lets give this of his forum some life and add some debates for people to get involved in and spread the word (its the only one that has 1300 stock cars...hence my interest lol) Oval Racing Forums
  3. Which one is the child? Well Done Svan & Toni
  4. Excellent news WW!!! Well Done on your F1 debut!
  5. Derek Hales, the official importer of Oval Legends suffered yet another bad start to the season today with an almighty crash that knocked him unconcious and badly bruised.....worse still his brand new car that cost in the region of £17,000 was loaded into the trailer as scrap parts having completed about 12 laps!!! The incident happened in his first race at Hednesford today, when he clipped the armco coming down the pit straight, but nothing new there for a man who has been racing nearly 40 years, however he was on the outside trying to work his way through the pack when a car, who I believe was his Son Ian moved wide going into turn 1 to try and outbrake a car, Derek had already committed himself to that line due to the unbalanced car after hitting the armco.......what happened then stunned the large staffordshire crowd as the car launched off the rear wheel of the involved car and sent Derek Hales into the armco at about 60-70mph roof first, which then caused the car to complete its roll and land on 4 wheels. The impact knocked Derek out for a couple of minutes. The medics attended in numbers and the remainder of the fibreglass roof was removed, at one stage a blanket was held over the fence to stop onlookers as they treated the driver, a chilling sight when it is someone you have known for years and raced against many a time. After about 10 mins Hales was removed from the car and walked to the ambulance. Luckily the safety of the pocket rocket legends was proved yet again as his only injuries are a very sore head, badly bruised arm and a big hole in his wallet. The chassis is a write off, with all the weld points stressed and some hefty dents in the roll cage. A banana shaped rear axle which looked to have bent the propshaft as it tried to find a way into the cockpit of the car. All the suspension was bent, exhaust smashed, the fuel cell has broken from its mounting point and even severed a fuel line, which was lucky not to ignite. About the only thing that looked to escaped from damage was the engine. I would be surprised to see this car rebuilt, as it is almost cheaper to buy a new car. Derek had contemplated running his 2004 car, as the sale of it had fallen through a few days ago. He has already stated he will be back on April 23rd at Birmingham Wheels and it will be in the old car. I like to wish him a quick and speedy recovery from one of the worst crashes I've seen in a long time.
  6. Nice job Jay! Question thou..... You didn't put it in the wall, why not this one?
  7. We'll all those months on banter last year with a certain Minime 924 on him getting a brand new elite F2 car.............. Behind the wheel at Swaffham tonight driving the white roofed number 24 golden machine was none other than Jon Palmer of Plymouth aka Minime....... The car was built at the tail end of last year and if I'm not mistaken it is the car that Poulter drove to the World Championship.....I know he drove it in the Best in Britain meeting. Not Sure if minime has been online much recently, but he led a number of laps in all three races, but also had a few hairy moments including spining out of the final when he was lying about 7th. Good Luck Jon with very well built Elite car.
  8. The word is spreading around the web and hopefully the magazines....the PR has started and we will soon be in Short Circuit on a regular basis (earning credit from Demon Tweeks lol) Rolling Start
  9. Hey Birthday Queen!!! Time to repay the greeting that you sent me earlier this month..... Happy Birthday to You Happy Birthday to You Happy Birthday Dear Tugs Happy Birthday to You Hope you had a great day hun!
  10. I am desperate for transport help for Easter Weekend...... My Stock Car is ready to roll, but my new company car is late and wont arrive until after Easter. I don't have a tow bar on the old one as it wasn't worth it. I am supposed to be racing at Swaffham on Easter Sat and Eastbourne on Easter Monday. Are there any kind folk out there that fancy a day out on either or both days? I have another problem in that my Trailer is still at JB273's in Oxford, so not only need a person with a tow bar, but possibly a trailer too! The car is near Tunbridge Wells BTW. CAN YOU HELP? I will sort you out with Fuel (after all I work for a petrol company ) and get you in to watch the racing for free. If you can help please email me magpye105@hotmail.com Thanks a million Chris
  11. Just got to get in line and follow the partyline.....spedeworth it is!
  12. Car is as good as finished now and ready for some testing. Inside has been painted silver, wheels touched up with some new white paint and the signwriting has been applied (apart from the Fin numbers as they came in the wrong size and style) Next stage Arena for testing next weekend (hopefully, though lack of tow car to collect trailer and then get there is a slight problem) and maybe even Swaffham on Good Friday before the Easter Sat Debut at Swaffham....If anyone fancies helping out on the mechanic side of things bring some overalls!
  13. I just thought I might come up with a Real Life competition similar to that of Travs for the F2s for all the rest of us to compete in. So are you racing something this season? Do the results get published anywhere on the internet (for checking purposes)? Are you a paid up member of UK Dirt for 2005? Please reply you real life name, formula, grading & number, and then your nickname. Cheers
  14. OOOOOOPS!!!!!!!! If he managed to clear all the field like that then maybe some sort of bonus is in order......'cos he won't be welcome at the Racewall again and he better watch out for revenge!!!
  15. I love it Trav....you wind up merchant!!!!
  16. Being a generous man supporting UK Dirt and their racers I've decided to double the offer that Trav has generously offered. So I'm throwing in another £25 to make that part more worthwhile Good Luck Guys! (hope you don't mind Trav)
  17. OMG Is this what we pay our UK Dirt fees for? A UK Dirt Banger promo video!!!!!!!! Quality when is the final page being added "When the routine days takes it's toll on you....Don't take it out in the parking lot.....Join UK Dirt Bangers to let off that frustration!!!"
  18. Another step closer to being finished today. Have wired a new kill switch into car, given it a full service and finished painting the edges of the roof. The all important Demon Tweeks vinyl has been applied, with the rest due over the next few days. All I need to do now is strip and clean the brakes and paint inside of car (which might be left until after Easter weekend's meetings) Hopefully I can be testing on March 19th at Arena, but that does depend on having my new road car in time with its new tow bar on it.....clock is ticking....
  19. Theres a thought!!! I checked the car over for ironwork and other factors but didn't think about the engine and the mods that my engine may have had! It might not be legal at Spedeworth after all now as it was built some years ago and raced at PRI last a couple of seasons ago. Hope no-one notices the difference
  20. Pictures of the newly painted car as finished this afternoon. Ready for the vinyl to be applied next week and then off to the track we go for some testing! Oh and decided to trim the number fins down into a a tidier and legal size today.
  21. Oh well So did I to be honest Gonzo! The email I received back from S! this morning regarding this issue is that Ringwood, Arena and Lynn are all ruled out....and I quote for the following reason "It's not that we do not want our drivers racing at these tracks or for other promoters, it is just their rules, etc. are completely different to ours and it would be unfair on any Spedeworth driver to race at these meeting.. I understand what you are saying in your e-mail, but unfortunately as stated in my previous e-mail the 1300 Stock Cars are not interchangeable. This ruling does not just apply to you, it also applies to all Spedeworth Drivers unless the race meeting at other Tracks is a Championship and all cars are compatible." Does this mean I can race in the Ringwood World Final / Arena Supreme Championship? I doubt it!!! Anyone want to buy a 1300 VW Polo Stock Car? Is now running and in undercoat burnt orange colours at present. Loads of engine spares, 9 wheels and tyres including 4 nearly new Kingpin tyres. Brand new 5 point harness, window net and neck brace. Over £800 spent will sell for £650 plus will sell trailer as rebuilt by JB273 and Budge last year for the price I paid for it. Anyone serious in this please email me magpye105@hotmail.com Time to go and buy a Stock Rod I've seen advertised instead, so I'm not being ruled by a promoter, who earns money from people like me racing. They don't have to put the meetings on and I don't have to race at them, but I want to when I want to and where I want to. Might see you at a Spedeworth (ONLY) meeting soon! If I can be bothered!
  22. Well I've just had it confirmed that I cannot race my 1300 stock car at non Spedeworth tracks which is a complete farce when the car is as far as I can see suitable for all promotions (maybe I've missed something in the rulebooks) I quote "There is no interchanging between Spedeworth and other promoter within the 1300 Stock Cars." Surely when the cars are suitable to be raced at other promotions and I am willing to travel to their tracks and there is not a clashing meeting with a Spedeworth meeting....where is the problem? However I have been warned and again I quote "If you are found to be racing at non Spedeworth tracks in this formula, then a possible ORC ban may be imposed." Oh well looks like I might have to race less often than I wanted to and look at selling the car to move into a formula where I can race more often. But its ok to test at these tracks and again I quote "Spedeworth have no objection with you practising at any other track, but would object to you racing at other tracks before you race at a Spedeworth track as you are contracted to Spedeworth." FARCE if you ask me! Is that why I've paid an ORC promoter £65 to not be allowed to race at other ORC tracks? Don't I wish I'd chosen PRI now! Anyone got any opinions on this?
  23. OMG - I wouldn't bother running in this cold slushy minging weather, credit to you Jay for not stuffing it in the armco, you must have been tip toeing around Swaffham not wanting to smash it before any meetings (that would be just your luck m8 ) See you soon m8
  24. Thou Arena is my closest track (Eastbourne is almost as close) I've joined Spedeworth for a couple of reasons. I want to race in the big meetings (ie Supreme Championship at the Spedeweekend) where visiting entries are limited and I'm more likely to race at the spedeworth tracks than at Arena when the dates clash. I've regisitered as my online race number and also the one used by my Dad on his National Hot Rod in the 1980s - 105. I decided that 88 was not the most lucky number i've been associated with (firstly in American Football when I played that in the 1990s and then on my Legend from 1998-2001). I'll be at Arena hopefully on the 20th March, 2nd May, 26th June, 17th July, 21st Aug, 4th Sept and 18th Sept so maybe see you on one of those days. BTW there is a Pip Williams car for sale on www.shortcircuitmag.com website at a very reasonable price.
  25. Engine is red under the dust and dirt (been standing for ages), but has an obvious rebuilt head on it. As for the practice night, only way I can get there is using one of your rivals transport aka my sponsors NTW cars own 145 Daniel Wickens. Might still try and get there somehow thou.
