  1. Just to clarify, there have been problems tonight with Jolt servers, and we're in touch with them to get it sorted asap. I'll post any developments on this sorry and thanks for all your patience ....... Wrighty
  2. tut tut Al we've been through this already lol. I'm still happy to see this start as a private league, so we can lobby for Jolt time when we have something substantial to lobby with. You've been racing longer than me m8, and I know why you want to run in Jolt, but you know that before 2004 almost everything ran in private servers for meetings, and we still have a great set of leagues from that. I'm happy we can do that again (to the point that i'm trying to organize it lol) mwaahahahahahaha sussed my timing ploy then (please bear in mind that any Friday night meeting will NOT start until at least 15 minutes AFTER the Brisca Legends meeting is complete, so no-one will be asked to leave BL early - until its part of UK Dirt, I'd rather work around UK Dirts times (otherwise we get called a dodgy league for trying to rob drivers lol). Gents, we have the cars, the tracks, an offer of website space (with many thanks to Loopylee and the Outlaw series site) so its servers i'm after now - stout 10+ers if poss for a few praccy type warm-up sessions? .......... Wrighty
  3. Looking good Spike Well done mate i'll be there shouting for the guy behind you asap (as ever lol) best wishes .......... Wrighty
  4. Lo everyone , Its been a few weeks since the NZs were discussed but we havent been ignoring it (it has too much potential to be ignored if you ask me lol) so....... theres been a few conversations and a few proposals already that i'd like to open discussions on if thats ok? My memory gets ever more sketchy with the advancing years (rofl) but i think discussions went along the line of the following........ One suggestion was for a 'normal' (individual) series, but there seems to be a teams culture developing here and Stav suggested that the teams could form the basis for a series, by each team having a 'home track' and then we race around the home tracks for a calendar. This kinda relies on the number of teams who enter, but i'd be happy to support this (with a couple of nomad teams for the non-teamed and new racers, again with their nominated 'home tracks'). If we had (for instance) 4 entered teams, and 2 or 3 pre-painted 'nomad' teams, that would give us 6 or 7 rounds to a series, possibly with a series finale at a new or neutral track. Teams are forming at the moment with 4 members, but this has issues for the servers (i.e. i think we'd need 12 cars to make a decent race, but this needs strong servers) so we'd need (i think) 2 servers capable of carrying 12+ cars to make a meeting (then run A v B v Nomad1, C v D v Nomad2 etc), although an option to keep the nomads to 3-car teams might help. We might have to run on thin, mind......can't be helped and the thin server racing i see in BWS is still quality stuff . Skins are being collected at the moment here so if you want to include a skin heres the place to go (the template for the car is inside your mod folder and the same template suits all cars). I've made the mod link sticky too. comments, ideas, suggestions anyone? I'm looking for 2 servers for 10pm Friday nights (after Brisca Legends) but thats not a 'this week' thing. ideas welcomed .............. Wrighty added.......... Please feel free to post your team, and your home track in this thread...... Tracks should be dirt but can be a dirt variant of a UK Dirt track (i.e. BuxtonD, BrumD etc.) - Brisca-K-world and the NZ tracks that are available are welcomed too of course.
  5. Congrats to you both and thats a cracking motor gr8 pic m8
  6. glad to see progress is there and you're (presumably) ready for the season m8. Venturing north at all?
  7. Members of UK Dirt, With MC having stepped down as UK-Dirt chairman last November 22nd, there has been quite some debate within the admin team as to what steps would be best to take, in order to fill the roles formerly carried out by himself. The conclusion we have come to for the best way forward is to spread the load out more, rather than just one central chair figure having all the responsibility. As a result we have two people stepping into roles which they are best suited - these two being Kev149 and myself. I will be handling the following roles of general UK-Dirt admin: *Announcing general UK Dirt bans for breaking general UK Dirt rules (ie off-track offences). *Inviting applications for new admin member positions. *Resolving disputes within the admin team and/or cross-league disputes with members. Kev will be taking care of these technical areas: *Approving trial periods *Updating bans on UK Dirt database. *Updating the general .ukd files (ie general UK Dirt rules etc.). *Taking backups of the database. This arrangement will go into operation on a trial basis at least, with immediate effect, then if things run as smoothly as we hope they will, the system will continue like that for the foreseeable future. When actual formula-specific admin positions become vacant, as has recently happened with the SSC league, members will be invited to apply for the role within a specific time frame. Once that time frame is complete all applications will be looked at and applicants assessed by us, as to which one would be best suited to filling that position. We feel that we are in the best position to know which candidates best fit the jobs, as we being existing admin members know first hand the things involved in running a formula, and being involved as a general member of the admin team. Many thanks (primarily to Corny, who prepared this statement ) but also to all of our members, for helping to keep UK Dirts status as one of the worlds premier Heat Leagues. Best wishes ........ Kev and Wrighty
  8. lol been great racing so far, come and join the fun

  10. think we'll stay with the 1.72e patch today yeah? see how it goes
  11. further to the above, i'm aware now of 3 people who've used the patch and its caused them real problems when theyve gone back to 1.72 so extreeeeeeme caution lads....... fyi, the patch was obtained from Luckys site, though i presume this is the same version as offered on TSR, and i think the problem was rooted int heir use of Norton av/firewall :S cheers ......... Warp

lmao John - superb reply m8 - post of the year thus far
  13. in theory both methods will allow both machines to connect to the net at the same time m8, but the first option needs double the hardware as previously described i think. ............... Wrighty
  14. i think that setup would need 2 microfilter boxes and 2 modems m8 - not sure how yr ISP would deal with the dual feed either. (i can't really comment seeing as our home network still isnt fixed but.....) either using a router with the modem plugged into it or using the ICS sharing protocols with a 'host' connected to the modem 'should' work equally well - the only downside with ICS is that the host needs to be on to allow the 2nd machine to use the connection. best wishes ......... Wrighty
  15. sorry m8 but i'd recommend a very deep virus scan very quickly - the 'system32/command.com' concerns me and i think (think mind u) that system32 is ripe for hijackers in Windows. i assume your internet connections stil working ok yeah? Look for a program called HijackThis (merijn software?) - this allows you to check all running processes and get expert help on a support forum to see if anything is awry. Hope i'm wrong m8 (i hate to be the bringer of bad tidings) and best wishes .... Wrighty
  16. coo i almost don't know where to start so bear with me plz First and foremost, I think Dragon is owed a small apology for our (Admin team)'s lack of response on this. The use of Jolt for NZ had been discussed in an admin meeting the previous week but no response had been forwarded to Dragon when we started discussing it (and as i recall i did broach the subject with Dragon, rather than him pressing me on it) the points are correct as theyre laid out, and i think Dragons clarification of the 'crappy' thing is well-put. Our concern at the time was that anyone who is involved on the modelling side might think that all they had to do to get Jolt time was make a mod and we'd let it in. We do protect our league to a certain extent to try to ensure that all of our paying members get the maximum 'bang for their buck' racing the cars they love the best, and some of us did an awwwwful lot of races last year (lol), which is why we were happy to offer winter slots for the mod to run in Jolt. I do still think it is imperative, however, that a 'new' mod such as this runs in private servers first. I think this mod is perfect 'private league material', and Dragon is aware of this fact. I'd be happy to see a league formed, and i think that it could conceivably grow to a 'bws-type' size (20 cars or so per meet in private servers and more often than not the meetings are very well-run, enjoyable to race in and very enjoyable to watch ). i believe it originally was, and was turned down. It hasnt hampered BWS's status or quality at all in my opinion, and again i can only hold up BWS as an example of how well-run private leagues can be. thats what i like to see Gents, the subject of NZ in jolt was discussed, and while it was my personal opinion that this needs to start as a private league first, i do still believe it is the way to get the ball rolling (as Goughik has already recently, a server i was happy to join in and ro.....race as i always do ). All of the admin members had an input to the decision and a concensus was reached that we already have lots of leagues to run but the winter slots would be offered for 05-06, with the possibility of progress on this schedule if the support was there. Finally, I'd like to say that i was not offended by anything said in the original posts, and that for our (admins) part, we probably deserved to be 'prodded' on the issue. This has been a scary thread to watch at times (lol) but hopefully we all agree that if we have enthusiasts, servers and a steady hand at the tiller, this mod has lots and lots of potential. cheers ......... from inside the tent ............ Wrighty
