  1. For Grasstrack I think I use Dxt5 and enable Mipmaps, for F1 and F2s I think I use Dxt1 and enable Mipmaps. Give Dxt1 a try if you haven't already.
  2. look for a dds plugin for whatever program you use. If you don't use photoshop then I know of plugins for gimp and I think paint.net.
  3. I don't race F1 very often but tempted to next year. In the past when I have tried it I was told that the default is actually a good place to start from. From the limited experience I have I would say it is more about the technique and especially not being too throttle happy. Gearing would be the first thing to work on and then experiment from there.
  4. Do you mean a graphics card instead of integrated graphics or are you talking about an external card for a laptop? If you mean the first one it very much depends on the spec of your computer. If the second I have no idea.
  5. Been running Windows 8 on my netbook for a while now and except for the visual and performance improvements it seems very similar to Windows 7. Most of the programs I use regularly on Windows 7 have been compatible with 8 so it looks like it will work. I am not a Heat user so never looked into how to get it to work on 7
  6. I think I read somewhere that there was a chance of a reduced price for it being so late in the season. I would contact counter or someone else on the admin teams and just inquire about either paying a small fee for the winter, so you can get some practice in, or about paying slightly more with next year included. In answer to your question I would pay quite soon if you have everything set up and take part in some of the winter series so you are familiar with the way everything works ready for next year.
  7. That's meant to say 'any driver details'
  8. The grasstrack skins need saving in DXT5 if I remember correctly (might be info about it on the UKSOM website) and you need to have a .veh with your dds file so that the game can load the skin. Copy one from another driver, open with notepad, change the first line to the same as your dds name, change driver any details and number then name it the same as your dds. Save as 'all file types' with the extension .veh. If you are still unsure about something just ask. UKSOM/paint
  9. The logitech profiler settings posted on the UKSOM site are a decent starting point.
  10. If you are talking about me in the consi then that 'bumpers for 5th' got me to 4th and a qualifying position... It was also not my night on a track I have done well at before, so I made the most of a bad situation
  11. bristolstokie 101 (red I think)
  12. For a while now every so often my computer would freeze when it got to the desktop and show screen like below. It began by happening every so often (with re-installing drivers being able to sort it) but then finally got to the stage where it it just refused to work no matter what I tried. I spent hours and hours trying everything imaginable to get them to work but nothing would. I finally came across a thread on a forum that suggested baking them in the oven. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea but because I bought all 3 of the cards second hand and had no warranty I decided it was time to try this trick. There were a lot of people commenting saying it had worked for them so I just went for it. I have in the past tried the towel trick on the xbox and had success for a while so I know this isn't permanent fix. But it worked!! Remove everything possible from the card that might melt then 10 mins in the oven at 210ish degrees C and the problem card is working.. at least for now. I just wanted to share the experience for anyone who might have the same problem in the future. I would only suggest this if in exactly the same situation with warranty and make sure the card has your full attention during the process
  13. test it without the pedals plugged in. Map the throttle and brake to some other buttons on the wheel or keyboard to try it and see if it sorts it. Only suggesting this because you said it happened after plugging in the pedals. Are they standard pedals for the wheel?
  14. Decided while I'm still installing things on my new build and the desktop is as tidy as it will ever be to show it. One of my next jobs is to find a decent quality background but it won't be easy.
  15. Late booking please New PC now sorted in time
  16. Already got plans for St Day Si but it might be a while before I start it. I want to use some different software next time
  17. Thanks for the comments. I forgot to thank CB and drumb in the first post. CB provided a lot of pictures that really helped in the early stages and helped with testing. Drumb has tested and edited the tdf for me. Thank you for the help! Trav I will look into the home straight, steeper kerbs and rumble on the inside
  18. The F2 GN championship at Bristol is fast approaching so I think it's time! I have had quite a few problems with making this one and it has affected my motivation to get the work done. I am never 100% happy with any of the tracks I make and never will be. I completely understand that with never actually visiting the track there will be people better qualified to tell me of any inaccuracies. I have done hours and hours of testing at different stages of development but have not yet tested under online racing conditions. Releasing it now will hopefully give enough time for a few of you to test for any problems with the possibility of improvements before the fixture. Criticism is very welcome (with a decent explanation) but also encouragement would be nice for the motivation to produce updates and future projects Bristolv0.25 Have Fun Future planned work: Reverse version Spectators Improved inside kerb Improve surrounding terrain Add the other buildings
  19. I was there too southy but didn't see anyone I knew (only know a few faces though). From a spectators view there was some great action and I really enjoyed it. Sorry to hear about the disappointment. I'll be back there next time I hope.
  20. My internet problem from a few of weeks back is to blame for these points After I've come back from my holiday it's taken me a week or so to get some confidence and speed back and I didn't really feel great about my setup tonight. Stuck with it though and although I was fading towards the end of the races it turned out really well. Well done Allan on the final win! You were just a bit too quick for me
  21. Buy a wheel would be the most common answer. You won't look back. If it is a wireless controller there is a receiver you can buy. Not sure about the wired one but I guess you just need drivers for that.
  22. Mr Cowie is on to Stoke. Are there any current UK shale tracks that have not been made already? Can't think of any. A couple of Dutch shale tracks have been suggested to me but UK tracks would interest me more for now.
  23. My mum works on the old Crewe site so have thought about doing that and old Stoke (Sun Street?). If the leagues would still use them in some way I wouldn't feel like I was wasting my time and would be tempted.
  24. It was in St Columb in Cornwall. From what I understand the site was part of a larger site called the 'Spirit of the West'. I think they have demolished it to make way for some very expensive holiday homes. Before that there used to be a mining attraction as well. Really enjoyed the couple of time I went there so thought it was a really good idea to make it as my first track. I knew it wouldn't be as popular as some places and that is one of the reasons I liked it so much. Bristol will hopefully be my next release (very soon) and then I fancy giving St Day a go as well. Aldershot was something I did for some of the other formulas I've raced in the past but I'm going to spend my time on tracks for the F2s now I think. I wouldn't mind giving a shale track a go if anyone has any suggestions?
