  1. Bit disappointed I won't be racing. Westworld was the first track I made and due to get a few visual updates when I get the time. Remember going there twice in the space of a week when I was on holiday just before it closed.
  2. Sorry I had to leave again before I threw some expensive equipment out of my window. Couldn't even finish typing on mirc without my connection dropping out but it was fine up until the semi was called! So annoyed with it at the moment so it's a good job I'm away for a couple of weeks. Had 2 engineers out now and about to phone for a 3rd and they still haven't fixed it.
  3. You need both the 6 and 8 pin cables connected for the card to run and like Allan says there are adapters you can buy. I have some unused ones lying around somewhere from before I decided running 3 similar cards might be a good idea I would gladly let you have them but it would be quicker and just as cheap to buy new from the links above.
  4. Sorry about tonight but the connection decided to play up just as the meeting started. Unless BT can sort it in the next few days it is not looking good for my semi final chances.
  5. And me please? 101
  6. Graphics cards now use pci-e slots but think I read that your dell only has pci slots (if any)which was an older technology (think they were agp before pci). If you do have a free pci slot you might be able to find a pci card for sale on ebay but I haven't checked if there are any still around. They will not be very powerful cards but might run Dx9?
  7. The backwards layout of dell motherboards is a pain so upgrading that wouldn't really be an option I don't think. Also be careful with the power supply because it is wired differently if I remember correctly. So doesn't look good for upgrading the other components you have got either
  8. Just had a read into it and it looks like a few cards have been reported to have similar issues and a couple of people said the power supply was the cause. What is the spec of the supply you are using? The recommended supply for a decent setup using a single 280 is about 550w http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-280-review-test/11 I found that 200fps was too much for my system so like you say messing with the fps might be the best solution but if it doesn't solve the problem then the supply might have something to do with it.
  9. If uksom gave out 3ds files it would be very easy for their work to get stolen and used without their knowledge. Mainly for this reason (but possibly others as well) I doubt they will want you to have it
  10. Is the noise coming from the card or through your speakers? Is it the fans or something on the card itself? I have 3 of the same card in but mine are water cooled and running in a 3 way sli setup so do not use the stock fans/heatsink. I got similar results with fps but realised that actually my other components could not keeps up when I was getting over 200 fps so I decided to go 3way and triple monitor. Yes I am crazy but it was all second hand and now performs better than 1 monitor single card (after hours of playing with settings and building it). The vsync should help your cards like you say by reducing fps and so fan noise because of reduced heat. If you update drivers there should now be an option for adaptive vsync which would be worth trying. I'm not sure why your card struggles more with vsync on but I would guess it is to do with other settings. If you are using the adaptive half refresh rate vsync then I found similar problems with poor game performance but I found rfactors vsync to be better and set nvidia to use the application vsync settings. If your problem is with the fan I have an unopened Zalman VF3000N I would be willing to let go for a bit less than I paid for it. That has a variable fan speed so you can reduce noise manually when you don't need the cooling.
  11. If you are serious about rFactor I would recommend looking towards a computer that will run rFactor 2. It will be at least a couple of years before we are anywhere near using it (my opinion and if we do) but if you can run 2 you would have no problem with 1. This all depends on budget and if you only want to run heat bangers then those specs are not needed.
  12. The drivers that respect each other will get a lot more enjoyment and success out of it. Compared to recent dealings with disrespectful people elsewhere the F2s here are quite enjoyable to race. I have noticed some hard hits recently, but as mentioned before you get drawn into it all in the heat of the moment and I would say that most would be guilty of it at some point, including myself. I hope this thread has brought the topic to the attention of everyone that races here and would recommend everyone watch the youtube video of Daz Kitson on the previous page. That is the way to get to the front of the field!
  13. Make sure that spectate is turned off. The option is found under Connect>Settings on the main screen. If you are still having problems with skins they might not be installed in the correct place. The installer for the skinpacks will install them in the right folder but watch out for this: Program Files (x86) is for 64bit windows Program Files is for 32bit/older operating systems
  14. Gimp is a free program you can use for skins, just need the .dds plugin. I use it for my skins because I haven't been bothered to learn how to use photoshop yet
  15. sorry for the double post my yellow bumper shale car thanks 12UKD101_StokieSSN.zip
  16. Sam I've just done an extra dds for my current grade for the yellow bumper. Forgot my shale one so about to do it now
  17. Allowing everyone to add an extra dds file with a yellow bumper to their skins folder would be a nice gesture. Not sure when your next skinpack will be in saloons but being able to use them for the next month would be a nice touch (if possible). I would like to do the same thing with my new F2 if admin will allow it.
  18. If it's an 8.30 start I'll be back just in time? Stokie 101 Red
  19. If 101 is legal for use here I would like to replace my danskin copy? I was making the 391 skin to use at SimStox so decided to make it look like I was using the chassis at both leagues. If it is not ok to use it I will re-number it but I do think it looks quite realistic Thanks to Kyle for the signs I used from the RCE he did for me last year.
  20. If you are not familiar with MIRC you can use the java version in the download section. When you are logged in to the main site there should be a section called 'UK Dirt chat' under downloads. At the bottom of the page there is a box to type your name and a button to enter the chat. You might have to install java if you haven't got it.
  21. Just doing a few laps before I pack up for the long weekend ahead
  22. Got a couple of cars in a show in Nottingham in the day but if we have no break downs I should be back in plenty of time for the meeting. bristolstokie 101 blue please
  23. Brilliant work on the improvements and I think other mods will benefit from the changes as well. As of my last track I have been using the same idea for my anti wall ride and Bristol will have something similar as well. It is definitely needed on the bends but it is hard to balance between the car being slowed enough and pulled in too much.
  24. I had a similar problem with the game loading a particular track but it was because I was trying to be clever and using my old userdata folder when I reinstalled rfactor. I think I deleted the lines in the PLR file that tell the game which track and mod to load and it worked. If you are going to try this then back up the file first in case it causes more problems. This might help if you did not delete all of your rfactor files before trying to reinstall it. If it was a fresh install then I am not sure what the problem might be.
  25. i've just got in and wasn't sure if i could race. I know it says bookings closed but is there any chance of being squeezed in please? sorry
