  3. Thanks for the meeting Si, very efficiently run. Well done to Robin for winning the final!
  4. Nice video Jack!
  5. A little update on the Shootout prior to the final round! TomD seems to have done all of the hard work on his path to retaining the Shootout title, gathering up an impressive 305 points over just 7 meetings with a devastating average of 43.6 points! With just the Shootout Finale round remaining the gap to second position DanSkin is 67 points, with Dode trailing in third spot by a further 162 points. Dodge is out of contention for the win with a total of 113 points, while Mike and Green opted to cease there participation after the half-way point. Full points table: 112 Tom D 305 pts ( gap ) 236 DanSkin 238 pts ( -67 ) * 151 Dode 143 pts ( -162 ) 560 Dodge 113 pts ( -192 ) 1 Mike 43 pts ( -262 ) 115 Green 42 pts ( -263 ) The Shootout however, has its own little twist – with the final round counting as double points for the contenders (not toward National Points). This means a potential maximum score of 162 points – that’s assuming winning every race, including the grand national, from the handicap (and that car numbers dictate a single grand national… if there are two grand nationals, it would be 146 points). So… mathematically we can see that only three drivers remain with the possibility of winning the Shootout – TomD, DanSkin and Dode. Dodge will start the meeting at Belle Vue knowing he cannot take the overall win, but the double points would allow him to move into the second position by the end of the night. The spell starting from superstar looked troublesome in the early rounds as he struggled to pick up many points, but, particularly in the last two meetings, things have been looking up. Opting not to drop out of the Shootout he’s relishing the opportunity to start at the back, and has integrated with the other superstars in this battle without issue. Dode is a definite outsider for the Shootout win - needing a perfect maximum score (from a single GN meeting format) combined with a no score for TomD and low score for DanSkin. His banger racing background could come in very useful if he decided to really apply himself to this problem… But mathematically he could be out of the running before the meeting even starts (if car numbers dictate two grand national races), or as early as his first heat if the results are not going his way. DanSkin stands a little better chance, but still needs a big swing in results / points in his favour to make up the difference. Realistically the final win, and a healthy serving of double-double grand national points would be the best chance of closing up to TomD… but 67 points is a sizeable deficit to overturn! By the numbers, and dependant on results and format, there is a small possibility that DanSkin could win the Shootout before the grand national race(s). TomD is sitting pretty, Dode can be ruled out very early in the meeting (if not before it starts by the format). And if his meeting tally reaches 96 points, then the title is decided regardless of DanSkin’s results! Depending on the combinations of results, TomD could wrap up the title as early as the end of his third heat, or we could be in for a meeting long, drawn out, nail-biting battle of epic proporitions! (Note: this comment maybe slightly biased and optimistic on my part.) Another interesting little snippet, in the event of a tie the drivers best individual meetings scores will be used to decide the winner. Anyone scoring enough points to catch TomD and finish level would be putting up the best score of the Shootout. So TomD cannot afford to tie! It is impossible for TomD and DanSkin to tie due to the gap being an odd number, and the double point scoring factor! Good luck to all participants! * Late amendment due to disciplinary DanSkin gains 1 point and so the gap is 66 points into the final round.
  6. Massive thanks to Drumbstick for sorting out the UKSOM server to use for GN2 to replace our (still) dead servers. As usual thanks to all who raced, and well done to Sije for some domination of the meeting and Green for taking the Tarmac Masters.

  10. This Thursday takes us back to the tricky Yarmouth track… Newly released earlier this year it is a break from the norm on tarmac – relatively narrow all round and home to some vicious fence posts, it should undoubtedly prove a challenge for the Tarmac Masters Final and the penultimate Shootout Round (#7). Drivers have amassed points from six qualifying rounds over the 2012 season starting back in March at Northampton and concluding at the end of September at Wimbledon. For each round raced, the drivers scores have been put through a multiplication system (white x2.5, yellow x2, blue x1.5 & red/ss x1). The grid will be formed from the first 22 available drivers on the day, with the highest points scorer on pole (no gaps). The race will be 20 laps in length, will run before the meeting and be non-point scoring. (A normal meeting format will follow). Grid based on top 22 drivers: 238 – 236 527 – 112 600 – 115 338 – 249 184 – 277 92 – 285 3 – 122 291 – 450 315 – 151 560 – 525 33 – 262 Reserves in order: 48, 391, 237, 305, 221, 517, 39, 380, 515, 188, 87, 254, 172, 98, 137, 292, 341, 107, 8, 41, 16, 255, 518, 330, 504, 164, 300, 227, 419, 550 233, 437, 520 Pole man Kane is on a real run for form lately, scoring well and moving himself into contention for one of the superstar positions come the end of the season. He hasn’t won a final this year (yet…?), but has a bagful of heat wins to his name and comfortably tops the points from the five qualification rounds. On the outside of the front row is DanSkin, who will look to go one better than his effort for second position in the World of Shale final last week. On row two is the winner of that World of Shale final TomD - starting from the outside there is every danger of the fence getting ‘involved’ but he is a wily competitor with a wealth of experience to call on. Fast blue tops Fasttrack and Lithgow are sitting pretty on the inside of rows two and three respectively. Outside of row three is Michael Green, a solid qualification from only three appearances including taking two of his three final wins this season at the Tarmac Master rounds. Newcomer Evnos makes it all the way to the inside of row four, a great chance to gain some experience. Mav Jnr is the lead white top on row six, starting alongside the Bradford qualification round final winner Hoggy who is the only driver to directly qualify having competed at only one round. TomD is the defending champion, while 2010 champion Mike returns from his ban to start back in seventeenth looking to add to his list of achievements, or settle some scores. There are a few surprise omissions from the grid, with Tinman just missing out while Corny and LeeK also fail to qualify although they are hindered by having not competed at all of the rounds. Good luck to all participants!

  12. At this point in the Shootout, the F1 Admin Team are offering the opportunity for the bottom half of the drivers to opt out if they wish. So the following drivers can opt out of the Shootout if they wish: 560 Dodge 315 Mike 115 michael green Note: if a driver opts out, then he cannot return later. Thanks!
  13. Following the sixth grading period of the 2012 season the following grade changes will come into effect this Thursday at Kings Lynn. UP TO SS DOWN TO RED UP TO RED 238 DOWN TO BLUE 262, 600 UP TO BLUE DOWN TO YELLOW UP TO YELLOW DOWN TO WHITE 237, 515, 450 Congratulations to those drivers upgraded and commiserations to those downgraded.
  14. This Thursday has us taking to the track at Kings Lynn to contest the fifth Shootout round, but perhaps more importantly the World of Shale! Drivers have amassed points from six qualifying rounds over the 2012 season starting back in March at Belle Vue and concluding just a fortnight ago at Sheffield. For each round raced drivers scores have been put through a multiplication system (white x2.5, yellow x2, blue x1.5 & red/ss x1). The grid will be formed from the first 22 available drivers on the day, with the highest points scorer on pole. The race will be 20 laps in length, and will run before the meeting and be non-point scoring. (A normal meeting format will follow). Grid based on top 22 drivers: 112 - 262 236 - 151 300 - 292 39 - 238 184 - 291 277 - 315 65 - 560 527 - 254 98 - 600 305 - 525 221 - 21 Reserves in order: 516, 33, 391, 249, 129, 122, 48, 255, 92, 107, 137, 3, 115, 41, 172, 233, 380, 67, 237, 515, 90, 87, 31, 419, 338, 152, 504, 517, 235, 16, 550, 450, 341, 365, 437, 488 So it's not the biggest surprise to see TomD well clear to take the pole position, but there has been an excellent set of performances from Harmen to get onto the front row - made even more impressive given he has raced at one less qualifying round that those drivers around him! Dodge has driven himself into a good grid position on the second row while Matty and Marco have taken advantage of their multipliers to take over the third row. The Sheffield qualifying round final winner Ali P qualifies in the middle of the pack, whilst the Sexbierum qualifying round final winner Corny has faired a little worse - not making the top 22. TomD was the 2009 champion so has a chance to regain the title on Thursday, Mike took the title in 2010 but serves the last week of his ban so will miss this opportunity. Jack was the 2011 champion and as it stands he has not qualified for the race (there is no provision to seed defending champ into the grid). However as he sits in a relatively healthy position on the reserves list it is quite likely that he could be a part of the race. Good luck to all participants!
  15. Well done Craig for the final win and TomD for sneaking top points of the meeting from Samwit. Congratulations to our American chum FreeW who follows in the footsteps of just about every other white roof in the previous weeks and achieves an instant upgrade to yellow! 23. Well done to TomD, a dominant set of performances in the two finals! A cracking little track, requires a proper bit of racing.
  24. Thanks for the meeting. Will see how the next few weeks progress but for now the rule and admin changes seem to have been taken in the correct spirit.
  25. Thanks for the meeting. Was very good fun, well done to Lithgow for winning the Euro in the end. I though Ricky was coming through to take it, but it was not to be! Some very good racing.
