  3. Hello, Just to let you know the F1 side of things regarding members' suggestions is now fully compiled, and available for viewing in the F1 forum. Thx, Corny
  4. Obviously not sure exactly what you wrote to them but in reference to the F1's in the Live Action Arena, they're the undisputed cream of the crop year in, year out. It is about time Autosport or whatever TV features they make of it, start giving F1 the exposure they're due...no grass roots about it, they're the stars of the show and as many an F1 driver has proved they're more than capable of taking on, and beating drivers from a supposedly more 'disciplined' background... To be perfectly honest having seen both examples of the Live show this year (reguar one and Oval-special one), I have to say I was almost falling asleep in the normal one....they were bringing out all these big time cars from World Rally, circuits, and so on, it just did nothing at all for the crowd really- these things might be what the TV and media portray as the top of motorsport but to the everyday man or woman they're nothing special.
  5. If 212 has bought it then maybe we can look forward to a red roof on the 212 machine one again eh
  6. Congratulations! Hope it all goes well, sooner he gets out've hospital the sooner u can get his eardrums used to the thunderous sound of F1's Cheers, Corny
  7. Not sure if things have changed since....but just after the final F1 meeting of the year at Sheffield in mid-November, I heard FWJ say he'd changed his mind about selling the shale car...
  8. I think they are probably very slightly out of date tbh...Workington for a start is not gonna be running any meetings. The most up to date fixtures are available at www.brisca.com in the 'news' section
  9. Sunderland used to have a speedway track at the stadium before the whole thing was overhauled to make a nice-looking greyhounds track with flowerbeds on the infield etc...my guess would be roughly 0% chance for a car track returning here within the near future.......
  10. I think the fact that all 3 members have considerable interest in other business activities outside of StockCars, particularly Lund who runs his large farm, might be more to do with them making less appearances rather than them 'not being bothered'........ FWJ is described as a professional 'oval race technician' so surely it is in his best interests to be present at each meeting, both for the racing and perhaps more so for the technical work, picking up drivers' damaged cars to take away and repair, selling parts etc? Yes #515 is a great driver that is not in any doubt- but to try and belittle the efforts of his main competitors when their postitions are vastly different to his, well it is a little ill-considered and naive to be honest I think. To me, Stu Smith Jnr's efforts have been highly commendable through 2004, he has come on leaps and bounds and been really impressive using just the one car on both surfaces. I for one think the upward curve of progress for him will continue into and through 2005. As for Andy well I think he was very much feeding his way back into F1 this year after a year out, the car seems to have taken a lot of sorting out and it was terrible to see him drop out of the World Final before it had even started. 2005WF looks like being an interesting one, all I can envisage when I think about how it might go is one almighty pile-up in the first bend!
  11. http://www.autosport-international.com/public-tickets.asp Just out of interest Budge, did you order your tickets by phone or online? As when I look at the online box office it appears there are still quite a few shows with tickets available. I can't book my ticket until tomorrow at the earliest but am looking at the 4:30pm Sunday show as that's one of the 2-hour oval special ones. If that means it's the same as last year then hopefully there might be 3 races for each oval formula.
  12. My dad has a PS2 so as I'm home for Xmas for a while I've been having a little play on it...was surprised to find that Formula One 2003 is IMO a really good play. One downside is that even on max skill level some of the AI cars, and the speeds they tend to slow to for some bends is just not good enough and can cause some problems. But as for overall 'driving sensation' it certainly seems good to me, probably the sort of game you could pick up 2nd hand and get some good hours out of if you like that sort of thing.
  13. I am gonna go down to the NEC for the Autosport show and Live Action, but not really sure which day to go for. Last year I went on the Saturday and it seemed slightly better than the times I had been on the Sunday, as it was the first day and there seemed to be more buzz about the place. Many people going this year? Was good to get some karting action with some UK-Dirt men last year. Would like to go on Saturday 15th if I can arrange time off with work, if not it will have to be the Sunday. Also how crap is some of the content on the autosport international site? Click on the Live Action page and there isn't one mention of F1's even though they're the known stars of the show each and every year....maybe afraid to admit a down to earth sport can take the shine off their posh rubbish at such a big event? Anyway if you're going to the NEC it would be good to see some new faces as well as the old ones of course, and maybe get a bit of Kart stuff in....although the owner of this forum might be out for revenge after the bumperwork I gave him last time there...! Thx, Corny
  14. Not totally sure about this but if the meeting is just unlimited amounts of F1's, I imagine if they were to get 80 or more cars booking in then you would probably get 8 races. 4 Heats, 2 Consolations, Final and Grand National (would actually be nice to see two sensible 32-car GN's instead of trying to cram 38 cars onto a track and still have people locked out of the gate......). Whilst on the subject of this, dunno if it's only me who thinks this, but maybe the time has come for BriSCA F1 to change its points structure in relation to how many drivers are racing at a meeting? For example- a driver can go to Coventry where he is competing against maybe 60-65 others, yet if he wins the Final or generally has a good night, he is only getting the same points as someone who goes to a 20-24 car meeting and gets the same results. Anyone think this is unfair? I do. One argument could be that if you reduce the amount of points on offer at lower turnout meetings, you may risk losing more cars from those meetings...but could you reduce that risk by keeping prize money just the same as it is now? These thoughts came into my mind a good few times through 2004 with the vast difference between a meeting like Coventry or a big turnout NIR meeting, compared to somewhere like Buxton or Wimbledon. Is it time for change? Would be interested to know people's views on this....BSCDA chairman Stu Milnes seems to think the World Qualifying series needs changing but I think perhaps he needs to look a bit more at their week-to-week format as well. Thx, Corny
  15. It looks as though this one is now complete with Chevy having answered Q1 correctly with Andy Smith, and Darren getting Q5 with Sheffield having been pencilled in for the '97 WF. AS for the date of that Bradford hehe it must have been the 4th, 11th or 18th then not too sure just thought of these off the top of my head, know it was a Friday anyway Thx and Merry Xmas to all, Corny
  16. Questions 1 and 5 still up for grabs gents....I'll set a deadline of March 3rd 2027
  17. Nope, both wrong on Q5 I'm afraid...
  18. It was indeed Mal Brown
  19. You have answered questions 3, 4 and 7 correctly Mav. That leaves 1, 2 and 5 still to be answered
  20. Correct...Michael claims the first 2 points
  21. Seeing as this part of the forum hasn't been used yet, I thought I'd post a topic just for the sake of it. So for all you F1 enthusiasts out there, just a few questions to get your memories jogged....... 1) At one point, it looked like the Friday October 9th 1996 meeting might be Bradford's last...however it managed another year of top action. On the night, which high-profile driver got the gates slammed shut on him before the Final, and showed his displeasure by speeding back up the bank? 2) A rare occurance this, but one driver managed to roll TWICE in the same race, during the Bradford 1994 WF meeting consolation- name the driver. 3) Who raced the #535 car during the 1988 season? 4) Which prominent F1 driver described the Cowdenbeath track/layout as 'dangerous' in a newspaper interview, following the F1's first visit there? 5) The 1997 World Final took place at Bradford- but where was it scheduled to be held in the original fixture list that year? 6) Swaffham staged its last F1 meeting in 2001, who won the last race there? 7) Who looked as though he would get into the 1991 World as a reserve, when Neil Brigg withdrew after the original false start, but then having driven out onto the track saw his chance disappear when Brigg re-emerged before the restart? 8) And finally, who was driving the pink Alastair Forsyth car during the 1998 World Final meeting at Coventry? Thx, Corny
