  6. hello I have just put in an AGP card, changed all the settings in bios etc.. the pc boots up fine and recognises the new graphics card, now the problem is.. when it goes past the XP loading screen and onto the log-on page,my screen goes completely black and computer dousn't do anything, i can hear things loading up and my monitor is still on green light and fully functional..... so it dousn't seem like its a graphic card issue, otherwise pc woudn't boot it and monitor woudn't stay on green??? are there any other things i could try? Could it be a driver issue maybe?? This is my first time using an AGP card so maybe I missed summat in bios? I been using an SIS Pci card for last year, dunno how!! btw just before i forget here are the motherboard and graphic card im using........L7VTA socket A motherboard GeForce2 Mx200 64MB cheers in advance guys

  18. OK for some very strange reason everything is now working well... i ran a virus check for 30 mins so must of been some sort of spyware bundled in the windows file. I assume its that... Cheers
  19. Hello very serios problem currently on my computer... recently my hard-drive just died on me because of a corrupt windows boot file so i went out and bought a new drive. That drive was running fine so id thought i would shove my dead hard-drive in as a slave and see if it would boot and be recognised. It was recognised and i could access all my files, ran scandisk on the drive and I tried setting my old hard drive as the master and see if it would boot, it did But now for some strange reason when im logged-on on my old hard-drive its saying some really odd things... I can't access no programmes at all on my computer because it says "Windows cannot find .exe - This Programme is needed for opening files of type 'application" Also when i try opening something in control panel it displays an error saying "Windows cannot find file 'rundll32.exe' What can i exactly do with the pc now???!!!! is there anything I can do to correct the problem or will i have to reformat yet again ? Remember guys no much point telling me to download any programmes, my computer can't open ANY applications. Thank you for reading one of my long posts yet again. Hope someone can help
  20. count me in too! Skin will be uploaded very shortly.
  21. Hello. Need some serious help here guys! I can't put up with my mums AMD K6 56MB machine anymore!! Right heres the problem, I suspect a virus has got into windows kernal file and damaged it badly... 2 weeks ago....I had a powercut and had to turn my machine off by the wall. Turned it on the following day went through POST fine, displayed the XP loading screen..then crashed, had a big blue screen with an error message reading "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME...WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER" I have tried booting the machine in every other mode it has and it won't go anywere! I have also tried removing ram sticks and replacing them but no go OK...so I have tried just about everything and its not gonna budge. Only alternative left was to reformat the hard-drive, thought that was gonna be simple enough but not on this machine... Set the boot devices in BIOS as: 1st CDROM 2nd HDD 3rd Floppy. Restarted the PC, it didn't even search for a device on the CD just booted the Hard-drive as normal! I then just set the first boot device to 'CDROM' and disabled the other two. This time it did search the CD but displayed an error messae reading "INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" Obviosly tried it again and again and different CD'S, but no luck...I also tried booting from a floppy but displayed same error screen. Has my hard drive just gone and died on me? Im at breaking point here... Thanks for reading guys and hope one of you can help
