Kane238 Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Great meeting tonight, Well Done Mark #241 for winning Final and Ritzo #443 for topping the points!
lloydy89 Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 WD puxty for winning final and to ritzo for top scoring
big al 515 Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Seemed a half decent meeting and quite enjoyed it despite attaining the expected duck. Highlight for me was a nice little race with returning UK Dirt legend Corny in the B final. He and I were both on the podium in the first ever UK Dirt WorldFinal in 2001. It was won by the bloke who set it all up in the first place, guy called DirtBozz. We all owe him a debt (real name Darren Summers, ex V8 stockcars driver).
Mav Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 My last F1 meeting this season as the next two weeks I am with my daughter who is taking her Gold Ice Skating exams at Nottingham Capital FM Arena. Nice to see Corny's return, great to line up alongside Big Al, making it feel like UK Dirt of old! So as I couldn't be 100% certain of still being at the top of the W&Y's table after the next two rounds, I had to attend and see it out! I didn't want to think that I "Did what I had to do", so as with the previous two times I won the title I decided to go for it and see what happened, at least that way I felt I had earned it if I was still at the top at the end. I was very happy with practice obtaining my first ever .5 lap time. The W&Y race went really well up until the last bend! I thought it would be a great way to seal the title by winning the race but for some unexplainable reason I ended up in the fence facing the wrong way I emerged to finish 7th behind my two nearest rivals, but because neither of them were 1st or 2nd, I claimed the title, albeit in disappointing fashion! Nevertheless I must be the saddest UK Dirt F1 Champion, as having won the lowest Championship for three out of four years proving that I haven't been good enough to get to blue in four years!!!! The heats were traumatic also. Healthy lead in Heat 1, only to be attacked by three whites whilst I was lapping them, allowing drivers to catch and pass me, I eventually finished 3rd. Heat 2, having a good battle with 451, until Tom caught up and passed us both, 451 & I did try and challenge but again last bend I ended up in the fence somehow facing the wrong way and crawled over the line in 8th. I was getting disheartened now and having lead Heat 3 most of the way I could see Wardieee closing in. I really didn't expect to finish but no hit came and the last lap board was shown. I thought I can't loose another race on the last bend surely! But Wardieee went for it on turn 1, we both clattered the Armco and bounced out, side by side down the straight and into the final bend we went. I had settled for 2nd, but Wardieee went to T-bone me wide but he spun and left me to cross the line to take a win that really made me smile Final I crashed out after 451 spun collecting the entire field almost! Charged back to make 10th although why Harmen had to bury me hard on the last bend when he was a lap down on me I don't know! I was again in the fence facing the wrong way on the final bend of the race! This time I slammed it into reverse and went side by side with Harman over the line but I was backwards lol Wanted to finish the season off with a good race and possibly a win, but 3 laps in 474 decided this wasn't to be. I was forced into a spin and 474 drove at my front end to get past and smashed my suspension and that was that. My season ended there. I amused myself with donuts on the centre green as the race was finishing So there you have it, F1 2014 UK Dirt Season concluded with 5 wins (most I have ever got), nearly two final wins - lost one on the last bend, seems to be a theme running here lol (never won one yet!) and reclaiming the Whites & Yellows Championship. Happy with my season, thanks to all who raced this year - Its been a blast
Puxlo Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 really enjoyed last night, won the whites and yellows and thought that will do... then went and won the final!!!! had no idea i had won till going round turn 1 and seeing 'well done puxty' then a quick glimpse at my position. The last bend was chaotic, about 10 back markers in the way and wardie took lloyd out, which i didnt see because of the amount of back markers, and i put ritzo wide thinking it was for 3rd! Best race i have been in so far! Well done ritzo on top scoring, and Mav on winning the W&Y title
Wardieee Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 You did well tbh Mark, you seemed to be on the money all night The last bend was never on the cards, if anything I was chuffed to do a full race without being taken out by some noob a lap down lol. I haven't won a single final all year in 1s, 2s or Saloons so I was looking for something, I thought a second would do! Went around 1&2 and saw ChrisA just welcome lloydy past whilst the back markers in front of me were on the brakes if anything. As a squeezed past the back markers halfway down the back straight I could see ChrisA throw the car in sideways which of course instantly told me he was trying to defend something.... But what was he defending? Mwhahaaa evil laugh aside I took a leaf out of Ricky Bobbys book and went in with a nice big hit, similar the the ones I would usually receive... Now I told lloydy myself that I had intended to nail him wide (not spin us both). After watching the replay a million times (as this was the 2nd time I had been in the wall backwards after a failed last bend) I noticed it was yet another lapped car which ruined what was of course going to be 'the perfect last bend'. As I nailed lloydy he just caught the back of a white top sending him sideways and well, leaving me for dead! Was a good race though, tbh the race 'should' of been Ritzos before the lap down issues he came across but I suppose its all part of the racing. Well Done to all of last nights winners
