Stumpy Posted May 29, 2015 Report Share Posted May 29, 2015 Congratulations Jake winning British Championship,From my view "upstairs" it was a brutal first few laps,only 5 or 6 cars survived to break away,from these the positions were shared.Thought it was a great battle between Dan and Jake.Jake eventually popped Dan into a parked car to win,some may say a proper stock car race some may not.From my point of view a really entertaining race.Well done to all who qualified. Mav Posted May 29, 2015 Report Share Posted May 29, 2015 After my first heat, I was thinking whether I had done the right thing in racing the meeting! With a lot of yellows on the grid I found that I had to drive aggressively (but controlled! - Well as controlled as I can get ) to get anywhere. Once I had ridden the rough ride in the early laps, I managed to get away but yet those same four cars seemed to catch and pass me every race! Those were Jake, Dan, Kane and Wardieee and I was not surprised to see that they were the four cars that finished the British in the top five. Was really pleased in the end to have made the top 22 of 36 cars racing and take my place on the grid for the 2015 British Championship. The race was brutal as Stumpy said, but I survived and even managed to get from 15th on the grid to 11th and actually challenging for top ten. However the leaders were now on my tail and decided to forgo my race to let them go - In doing so 2 other cars got by me who I was racing!! Still very happy to have finished 13th, and top yellow in the race Congratulations to Jake #691, drove really well all night and deserved the title after such a bold move on Dan. A different kind of meeting than what I am used to but in the end after a poor start a satisfying meeting to have been a part of - Well Done All (Except Stijnes!) Puxlo Posted May 29, 2015 Report Share Posted May 29, 2015 Really enjoyed last nights meeting, some great heats with some great clean battles, one of two usual suspects ruining it, but they ended up not qualifying, so their loss. Unfortunately the British was over by turn one being at the front of the train into the wall! From starting second last in the British and ending up 10th after the first bend i was happy with that, picked my way upto 6th, great result for me in these. Well done Jake! So 2 wins on the trot in my heats were a pleasant surprise Then the final came, started 10th... was dead last within 6 laps. (I made the mistake of using my brakes into the corner on tarmac) Clawed it back to 15th though, no points but all I could ask for. Tarmac really isn't my thing. All 4 wheels on the track, not a follow in, no wall-riding, and but for the parked cars I doubt I would have even hit the fence - a good race and a well measured hit in my opinion. Not that I enjoyed it! Having watched the replay I do have to apologise to Wardieee - in my haste to recover my rejoin from the car park in turn 1 and 2 was rubbish.
