I've uploaded an old copy of the 'home page' so people can now login. It may be changed again when MC has the time to upload a more up-to-date version, but it will suffice for now.

Following a recent admin meeting with regards to the suggestions made on the general topic, I can now set out our replies (in red) as follows [replies to the league related topics will be announced by the respective league admins shortly]: Finance: Set JOLT fee for the coming year. This has been set and announced in an email. If you've not received the email the please read this post, alternatively please login on the UKDirt Website. Per league payment system (ie if someone only wants to race 1 league then they get a reduced fee and then have to pay to race other leagues). It was agreed that this was a non-starter. We pay for the use of the JOLT servers, not to race in a league. How many leagues you race in is up to you. Payment for the forum/webspace. It was agreed that a payment would be made for the use of my webspace and for the cost of the forum software. Proper published accounts. It was agreed that a summarised form of accounts be published. I believe the first monthly account has been published here. We are currently looking at a way of publishing these numbers to UKDirt members only. Sponsor a real-life racer & car with money left over from the fees or put the left over money towards next years fund. It was agreed that sponsoring a real-life racer was not a viable proposition (who, which league, how much etc.) so whatever funds are left will go towards next years fees. However, it was also agreed that each league would be allowed £50 from the left-over funds to distribute however the league admins wished, with agreement that no cash prizes would be offered. Further announcements would be made by the league admins as to how this money would be spent. UKDirt Website/Forum: Improvements to the site like news on the home page, FAQ section, screen shots & renders for each mod. MC has already started work on this since the suggestion was made. More improvements will be forthcoming over the next few months. Advert page to show off UKDirt, or at least a page to point potential members to. As above MC is working on this. FAQ section for the forum as UKDirt site isn't the first place people look for help. The software is already in place for this, content just needs to be added. If people can write some FAQ's or tutorials I will gladly add them, also I will be linking to the guides on the UKDirt site over the next month or so. Fixtures page to contain championship winner as well as final winner. MC is trying to get this to work at the moment. It's difficult as it requires the database to be changed and the software files to be re-written aswell. It's not an easy job but MC is looking into it. It may not be possible. New banner for UKDirt site and forum. It was agreed that the US Legends 'element' of the banner was to be removed. This has now been completed. New sub-forum for renders next to skin-painting. It was agreed that this was unnecessary. Rules: Remove general rules and just have individual league rules. It was agreed that the general rules ahould stay and not be removed, however, they have now been moved to their own section on the UKDirt site so that they no longer appear above all the individual league rules. All leagues should have the same closing time for bookings or where different put them in the rules. No bookings after this set time. It was agreed that the closing time for bookings on the UKDirt website would remain at 6pm, it would then be up to the individual RM whether to allow late bookings. Whatever each league decides it was agreed the rules would be updated to state whether (and under what circumstances/championships etc.) late bookings would be allowed. League admins would advise further on this. Table drawn up to show what crime fits which range of punishments and displayed along with the rules of each league to improve consistency of punishments. It was agreed that drawing up a table of punishments was not practicable as all punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis. Too many people taking advantage of the 2-week trial, should it be removed or reduced to 1-week? Maybe reduce to practice only. It was agreed that the trial period should remain as it is, however, there would be a further discussion on the admin forums as this is a major area of the UKDirt leagues that requires attention. Complaints procedure - Same for each league, except the outcomes governed by the rules of each league. The procedure of notification between the complainee, admin & the complainant should be improved. It was agreed to have consistent rules for each league as regards timescales and communication between all the parties concerned, however, the outcome of any complaint would be governed by individual league rules. The rules will be amended on the UKDirt site as required. Heat Essentials: Incorporate all the mods into 1 download using NASCAR Heat Essentials. It was agreed that this was unrealistic as the download would be far too large and also that people would be installing mods on their PC that they had no intention of racing. New splash screens for the mods. It was agreed that this wasn't really necessary and in any case would take a while to do as the mods would have to be repacked. Move to patch 1.80 for all mods. It was agreed that this was an unnecessary move as it would have no effect on the ovals that we race on. JOLT Servers: To be kept up to date on the UKDirt site and the password changed regularly. It was agreed that this was to be done daily once the season gets underway. Increased capacity? A move to bigger JOLT servers was not possible due to the fact we race on 'thick' servers and they cost 3 times as much. The cost V benefit analysis would suggest that's it's not worth the money. Admin Team: To be voted in by the members, or at least new members voted on by the members. It was agreed that the present system only requires a minor tweak in that second tier admins will be appointed by the individual league admins. Full UKDirt admins will be appointed by the full UKDirt admin team. There is no merit in opening up the applications to a vote by the members as this will add nothing to the league as a whole. End of season AGM with topics discussed by all the members. It was agreed that this is not practicle. League Related: Alter the grip levels of the shale tracks (Kings Lynn given as an example). This all depends on whether the modellers have the time to change them and the opinion is that this will not happen. Winter series for F1, F2 & Saloons with members running the meetings to give regular RM's a break. This will be discussed nearer the winter but it was agreed that the individual league admins will decide what happens. What we really need is a BL practice night. It was agreed that the admin team will take a look at a revised JOLT rota to take this into account. An announcement will be made shortly once this has been fully discussed. Fix the installation routines for the mods, also stop all the tracks etc filling up my installed programs list in control panel. In order to fix this issue, all the installation routines that leave an uninstall routine in the control panel would need to be redone. MC has offered to look into this, but it will take quite a long time.

Since I made a change to the domain name last Sunday, I'm wondering now if there are still problems with people accessing this forum. Let me know either way please.
-
Despite my hosts saying that everything is setup correctly, I've made a change to the domain name on the server where the forum is hosted. Not sure if it will make any difference but thought it was worth a try and see how it goes. It may take between 24 and 72 hours to propogate around the internet so please be patient.

Happy birthday.

What you need to do is go into any forum and you should see an options button near the top. Click on it and choose 'standard'.
-
For anyone that's interest you should now be able to choose between a white or black background. I've done little testing on the black background so if you spot an error or something is the wrong colour then please let me know so I can correct it. To choose the black background goto the bottom of the forum and you should see a drop down box with the option in.

The following is a summary of the changes made to the UKDirt forums. It is not an exhaustive list as there are many minor changes that help improve the performance of the forum as well as increase the security. Forum Rules These have been completely re-written so I suggest you cast you eye over them. Gallery This has been setup much the same as the forums so that it is easier to see specific pictures. If any more categories are required just let me know. The members galleries will be deleted on 31/12/06 which gives you plenty of time to re-post your pictures in the relevant category. Links A links system is available. Only 2 categories are there at present but more can be added as required, again let me know. You should be able to add a link to the system but they won't appear immediately. They will need approval by myself to stop links appearing to inappropriate sites. Profile Photos This is a new section and simply shows the photos people have uploaded to their profiles. Tutorials / FAQ's This is a new section with nothing in at the moment. If anyone cares to write any tutorials then please let me know so I can post them. This is to stop all the constant posts for help on the forum but your help is required to get this up and running. They can be on any subject related to the UKDirt leagues. Support Systems There are 3 support systems now [uKDirt Forum, UKDirt Website, UKDirt Finances]. These should be used at all times for support in these areas as the requests will go directly to the people concerned rather than being lost on the forum. Again I've set the fields up quickly and other fields can be added as required. Also other support areas maybe included in the future. Admin Applications This form should be used whenever an admin vacancy is available. Whatever is typed into the form is posted directly into the admin forums so that none goes astray and also so that all admin members can see them easily. This will not always be available. I will only turn it on when a vacancy exists. RSS Feeds RSS Feeds are now available to import information from other websites (where they supply feeds of course). I've setup 2 RSS Feeds for now but more could be added in due course. If there are any websites out there that have RRS Feeds and you would like to see them imported here then let me know please. There are still a few cosmetic changes to make (which I will do over the next few days) but nothing for you to worry about. Please enjoy the new forum.

Now that most of the second tier admins are in place (announcements about the remaining places will be made in due course) some other changes have been made within the UKDirt admin team. Jamie & I have decided that the time is right for us to take a less active role. This means that some responsibilities will change and the workload will be spread differently. Jamie has decided that he no longer has the time to control the UKDirt finances and asked for someone else to take over that responsibility. Therefore, it has been decided that Maverick (Paul Broderick aka PB - 525) will be taking over control of the UKDirt finances. This change is not an overnight change as various aspects need to be clarified between the two people so for now continue to address all payment queries to Jamie. An announcement within the next month or so will be made when the responsibility changes hands, which will definately be before the next JOLT payment is due. Maverick will remain in his second tier F2 admin role and will not become a full UKDirt admin member. I have also decided that time is a premium commodity these days and I no longer have the time to continue with all my general admin duties. With immediate effect, all I have responsibility for now is the forum. Therefore if there is any query/problem with the forum, they should be directed towards myself. As for all the other general admin duties, these will now be handled by MC, who has kindly offered his assistance once again. These duties will included accepting people for trials, dealing with complaints in respect of the breaking of general UKDirt rules (basically anything that is non-league specific) and general upkeep of the UKDirt website. The contacts page on the UKDirt website will be updated accordingly when the other second tier admins have been decided. Spreading out the responsibilities of the general admin roles along similar lines as the second tier admins created to help run the leagues can only be good for UKDirt.

The admin team would like to announce that we have decided to restructure the team. There have been 7 resignations from the admin team this year alone, and we feel this is way too many, 3 of those in the past few weeks. There have been various reasons for all the resignations (which I will not go into) but we now feel the time is right to restructure the team. Each time we have offered positions this year, the number of applicants could be counted on one hand. The conclusion we have drawn from this is that, you recognise the amount of work involved in being an admin team member and have decided that you cannot devote the time necessary to fulfill an admin role. So what do we have in mind? This has been mentioned on more than one occassion in the suggestion topics and has also been implemented in the Banger league. We intend to have one UKDirt admin member per league who is responsible for that league. What we also intend to introduce is a second tier of admin members who help run the leagues. Each league will have a different number of second tier admins depending on how popular the league is and how much work is involved in running the league. Running a league involves RM'ing the meetings, updating points charts, dealing with general league issues, league discipline, skinpacks, fixtures, rules. This is not an exhaustive list but as you can see there is a fair amount of work involved. We recognise that there is not a UKDirt admin member for the Hot Rod and SSC leagues. I'd like to thank all those members who have applied for these roles. Due to the discussions within the admin team in relation to this restructure we have delayed making a decision on this. We will further delay any decision on this until more applications have been received in order to complete the second tier of admin members at the same time. What do we want you to do? We would like to create these teams over the next 2 weeks. There will be separate announcements for the F1 & F2 leagues but for all the other leagues (SSC, Hot Rods & BriSCA Legends) I'd like you to apply for whatever position you think you can fulfil. You can apply for more than one role and for more than one league, however, when we make the appointments that we think will best serve the UKDirt leagues, we will take into account workloads. The whole idea behind the restructure is to reduce the stress levels of admin members by asking other members to step forward and help run the leagues in whatever capacity you can. We also recognise that there is not an endless supply of admin members to run the leagues, therefore we need more members involved to even the load. If you wish to apply for a role then please email kev@ukdirt.co.uk or PM me through the forum.

That page won't load anymore - I've removed it. My hosting of BriSCA Heat 2005 stopped a while back due to the amount of resources it was using on my hosts server (they were complaining). All I did was rename the file so that it wouldn't work from www.briscaheat.co.uk The file was only renamed because I thought I may be able to host the file again at some point in the future. Given that some people have downloaded it from the renamed file I've had no choice to delete it from the server. I can't afford for my host to complain again because they will take the forum down!!! Sorry.
