To add an attachment to your post you need to zip up the file and then in the section below where you type your post you click on the 'browse' button to locate your file, then click on add this attachment and wait for it to upload. All you need to do now is add your reply.

It's common practice to have the limit set at 4 letters. Searching for something is an intensive process (ie takes at lot of the servers power) which is the main reason for the limit being in place, considering we have nearly 100,000 posts to search through. Can you imagine someone searching for the word 'and' or 'for' or 'we' or 'I'? There would be thousands of posts listed, not to mention the server probably grinding to a halt, which I'm sure I wouldn't be thanked for. I understand your reasons for asking for this limit to be removed but I would be against it given what I've said above.

Give me a link to the post where you found them and I'll see what I can do.

Over the past few days there have been a number of posts on here containing strong language. There is a 'bad word filter' in operation on this forum which should catch most words, however it won't catch all of them; nor all the permutations (including starred out words). Various members will receive warnings and/or bans later today when I've gathered all the evidence. There is NO EXCUSE for posting language like this. All the warnings are there when you post something on this forum and offenders will be dealt with. This is a public forum and anyone with internet access can read what is posted on here. Making posts containing strong/offensive language must stop. No more warnings will be issued. Any further posts containing such language will result in your forum account being suspended and/or banned. You have been warned.

In an attempt to speed up the forum a little I've altered the way signatures appear in topics. When viewing a topic, your (or anyones) signature will appear below your first post in that topic and then not below any of your other posts in that topic. This will be why you won't see your signature sometimes.

I have been aware for a while that the forum is running slightly slower than usual. There are, I believe, four contributing factors to this: 1. The number of forum members has increased significantly over the last 3/4 months. This leads to more people being on the forum at certain times of the day, inevitably slowing the forum down. 2. Posting of huge attachments, especially in topics with many posts. 3. Constantly reading RSS feeds. 4. The webspace is over 80% full. Whilst there is nothing wrong with people posting huge attachments or being on the forum at the same time as others; these are overall contributing factors. What I'm going to do is the following: 1. Take the forum offline for about an hour later today to reboot the server (it's just like a PC and needs rebooting every now and again - from memory the last time I rebooted it was in October). 2. Stop the RSS feeds for a week or so to see if that makes a difference. 3. Investigate the costs for a more powerful server. 4. Remove the F2 website now that it's been moved to a new URL to save about 100MB of webspace. 5. Remove some of the older replays attached to the forum (2005 to start with). 6. Upgrade the forum software, although this may take me a month or so as work is hectic at the moment. Give things another week or so to see if you notice any difference.
