UK DIRT KARTING GRAND PRIX EVENT BIRMINGHAM OR TAMWORTH
Kruiz 136 replied to Spike's topic in Non-League / Off Topic
I'm interested. So is Jimmy259 -
Hey mate, I've had it out twice so far this year, the first time the brakes let go after a few laps and I hit the wall at full speed at Buxton and I ended up in the back of an ambulance with concussion and memory loss lol 2 weeks later though I was out at the Birmingham world qualifying round, which was this Saturday just gone. I didn't set the world on fire by any means, the aim of the night was to get some of my confidence back in the car which was lost at Buxton, and try to get it handling after the winter where we have replaced absolutely everything that matters to the set up. We also got the car weighed for the first time as it's a WQR, its 690kg (the limits being 640 - 700) overall and 51% inside weight (the limit being 53%). So looks like we have some weight to lose, and possibly some to add to the inside nerf if we can lose enough, or alternatively, I may try shale as my main surface for a bit and see how that goes. Not sure when I'll be out next, I was hoping for the Skeggy double header in a few weeks but it will be costly enough (8 - 9 + hours of diesel for me there and back) and go through a lot of tyres if its hot, one problem I had at Birmingham was my outside tyres melting and going off, and now I need a new hitch for the trailer which will be £120, so I may not be able to afford to go as far as Skegness :/

Cheers lads Had good day with my mate (formerly known as Grouch of Brisca Legends fame) first went to demon tweaks then onto Three sisters circuit Karting in Wigan. It snowed, so very greasy track but great fun. Was leading the final but trying too hard and spun off but recovered for 4th - gutted though to be honest. 1000m track, 320cc engines, up to 70mph on a very slippery track = much fun

Perhaps you just got a bit unlucky Nezza. Personally I think the damage is fine, I took a few hard hits, no damage. Managed to avoid all the stranded cars, which is surely the point of the increased damage, to stop the lunatics who used to drive in flat out and get away with it. Eventually people will adapt, hopefully.

Is there going to be another test this Monday?

Well, I thought it was an excellent meeting. The physics are now pretty much spot on in my opinion really does feel an awful lot closer to what the real thing feels like to drive. One or two need to sort themselves out (I don't mean poor control, I mean poor standards of driving towards others) but on the whole it was pretty good. The damage is pretty much spot on too I would say, F2s are soft and those who drive big pile ups and into someone who is dead on the track flat out, just because it won't hurt cos its a game should now have to think twice. Obviously thats the first meeting using those physics, so I won't say it is absolutely perfect in every way just yet, but I see a lot of potential and if people are able to race it properly I look forward to an enjoyable full season in F2s ahead. Well done to all those involved in adjusting the physics, and thanks to those who ran the meeting.
