LOL Cheers guys. A lot of hard work, now spent a total of 20 hours on the car over the weekend but all ready for Birmingham now, just wing to put back on and the odd nut to tighten. We got the lot out as we would have had to undo all the bellhousing from the engine whilst it was in the car and the nuts are not at all easily accessible, we couldnt undo most of them from where they were and it was a lot easier putting the gearbox and engine back together while it was out, easier to manouvre into position. Made sense to us anyway lol We didnt have too much trouble getting the box out with it anyway. Kyle

Really busy day! Up early this morning to get the engine out and clutch changed and put it all back again hoping we'd make it in time for Barford tomorrow unfortunately didn't quite make it, as we ran out of time (got too dark to continue) at around 10pm and the rads still not in, neither is the exhaust or bonnet and nothings really connected still need an hour or so on it but it will at least be out for Birmingham next Saturday! Woohoo Monster job, took us about 14 hours today using the primitive equipment we have lol! Some pics of our professional race outfit ( ) for your amusement..

Think I can See you there.

Yes Johno you will need to come and find me though, I'm racing the F2. Cheers all.

So do I mate but nothings simple, going out now to get the engine out just so we can get at the clutch Can't wait for Birmingham though!
-
Cheers Mart, the problem was temporarily fixed by lengethening the clutch cable with metal ties etc just so I could finish the meeting, so fairly sure its that but might be both perhaps :s

Great stuff Si, getting on well now mate hope to see you at Birm perhaps? Unlucky Iron mate know you were in two minds about going. My debut at Buxton today.. I had an absolutely great day far surpassed what I expected. I seemed to impress all my family that was there in support of me including, dare I say it, my dad, but he'd never admit it lol. Nervous as hell, and shaking like a leaf I hauled myself into the cab for practise and it went well! Seemed not far off the pace so was very happy with that. Did a few practises with all sorts of top drivers and they never caught me over 10 laps or so, (having started behind them) I was thrilled with that so went into the first heat with a bit of confidence and gave it my best. Ended up staying out of trouble for the most part except for one moment when I had to squeeze through the middle of two cars and they closed up as I did it but I got through. Finished 11th not bad from behind S/S! Over the moon with that to say the least. Went into the consi with a mindset of I wanted to get stuck in a little more to see what it was like. Fair to say i loved it lol Had a little bumper fight with a white roof and tapeed one or two others loved it. 11th again, so close to qualifying! GN - going well again made a few punts on a few more drivers but the main incident was a tangle going into the corner 3 wide didn't work good fun trying though! lol Only issue was a clutch getting worse and worse losing one gear at a time throughout the meeting until the GN I only had 3rd so i couldn't move after I got stuck behind a stopped car and thus couldn't finish the GN. Even so great day, really enjoyable I loved every single second. Thanks to my dad, Mart Baker (stock fan 501), Think! Financial Limited, Keith Organ (Quiche addict) and Si Basset #31 and my cousin Matt for all the help making it all possible to come together today. Thanks guys! Gearbox out next weekend to replace clutch and all being well my next appearance is Birmingham 22nd. Thanks Kyle

Happy Birthday Johno! Have a good one

Well another final win.. out of where I don't know, certainly no pace and very little consistency from me (again), car set up was way off, first I had lots of oversteer then lots of understeer, but I managed to drive through the early chaos by being slow i think. I held onto 4th I think it was for a while until there was a little tangle amongst the top 3 and got up the inside. Johno didn't make it easy though pressuring me until the penultimate bend then tried to clear me over the fence lol God knows how I surved that hit let alone kept the lead and then Danskin tried the same on the final corner by which time i was just closing me eyes and hoping for the best, and somehow crossed the line 1st! Very unlucky to you both absolutely no idea how I even finished. Good meeting I thought despite being nowhere in other races although GN was a little boring from the handicap as i only saw one or two other cars all race. Will probably see you all wherever and whenever the next meeting is lol. Cheers all Kruiz

I think its my dads term for a thrust bearing Hes a self taught mechanic Yes your right it goes quiet when the clutch is fully pressed.
-
Thanks Budge the air leak noise is just the clutch release valve it should be fine and the rattle was just the loose clutch cable rattling against the side of the bellhousing. So assuming nothing else gives reason for concern I will definately be there on Sunday for my sins.. lol
-
Debut this Sunday at Buxton for anyone interested... ...although we've just discovered the gearbox has a rattle and the clutch makes a sound like air is leaking when pressed so will have to see whats causing that tomorrow.
-
Once you've got used to it, I think you'll find the added feel will help you hold hits a lot better too.
-
Don't believe it for a second Leech I've not seen the replay, but I can't remember a time where I've done almost 2 full spins after a hit and ended up at the mud mounds at the edge of the corner. Actually i can it was in the Dutch championship last year when Hutch got me, and i know that was deliberate.... Eager to win or not if you can't race somebody clean for a win or at least hold on for the last bend and they've pulled in 3 seconds on you in 8 laps you have to admit your just not quick enough this time and there will be a next time. For every time you pull a move like that you loose someones trust, and the next time will get harder as nobody will want to pass you cleanly.

Cheers all really enjoyed it tonight thought I'd be lost in the superstar grade but to my surprise settled down quickly and would of won heat 3 if a certain idiot in car 968 knew one thing about racing fairly, even after i cut him some slack to let him hold onto to 2nd. I know when I started all those years ago what I hated most was the higher graded drivers destroying my races near the end after leading for ages and i never understood why, now I know why!!!!!!!!!!! After chasing hard all race to overtake without any contact and leaving you well alone you drive at my rear end taking me out the race. I won't be making that mistake again, next time I pass you and every other time I pass you I won't be going past without spinning you out the race so I hope it was worth it. Sorry for that moan, I did actually really enjoy the meeting on the whole and actually had some good racing with some people for the first time in what seems like an age. Well done Tosh for ending my run of unbeaten final wins Unfortunately won't be about for the next 3 or 4 weeks so I'll see you all when i see you. Kruiz
