  5. After the meeting on Sunday, I am not convinced that the tyre wear is to much but that the drop off between steps is a bit to much here is why. We had an 8 car grid for the GN, lined up in reverse qualifying order and a manual rolling start over 21 laps minus the roller. I started at the back and after about 4 laps had cleared the traffic, running second with COD right behind me and PaulP about 4 sseconds up the road. I started to chase Paul and yes I was driving hard but I was not throwing the car about, I was closing on Paul and actually set a PB on about lap 14 at which point I was about 2 seconds ahead of COD and 1.5 behind Paul. Then on lap 16 or so the rear tyres just went off. My lap times dropped from an average low 15.1 to 15.5 in no more than a lap or 2 and the car became a real bitch to drive. By the end of the race the three of us were only about a second apart as CODs tyres were obviously in much better shape than mine. Now I am not saying my tyres should have lasted as long as CODS as I was working them harder, but the sudden drop off was just a bit to much. I have not looked at the drop offs in the TBC so this is all from what I experienced in this race and some others in the past. As for contact I think what everyone discovered was not that you CAN hit people in RF but that it is a skill you need to develop just as you would in a real F1.
  6. On dirt with a good setup you can just floor it and control the slide believe me, and I would guess 95% of your tar problems are also setup related, ask the people who were on wrightys server this week how much difference getting the setup correct can make.
  7. No, they made quite a big step forward with YOUR tar setups, which isn't quite the same thing but an evening well spent hopefully, I certainly managed my fastest times to date around there I dont mind helping, and although I wont normally give setups out but try and point people in the correct direction last night I was trying to prove you CAN have a loose car on the tarmac. Good news about the server, I know Hutch also has a server that should be up in the next day or two. We plan on running a series from September to Feb if there is enough intrest, something to keep people going over the winter
  8. Yea thanks wrighty, I think most people made quite a big step forward with there tar setups
  9. LOL good idea, she will be fine just worse when she has flu than me
  10. Deffo intrested but the GF has been ill. If I can get on for an hour I will
  11. I agree Allan but then I said that on the Server No freeweb I cannot think of a reason we need to use flags, although setting the blue flag to show but not penalise may be a good idea. People have no excuse for not knowing they are being lapped then.
  12. Yep great fun thx Spike, and I got my first final win
  13. Great racing last night lads, once started to reverse the grids it was top stuff
  14. Sorry guys Server is now up GRCs F1 open house
  15. Drumbstick321 looking for a late late booking
  16. Set both cambers to max and try to lower the LF tyre pressure. After that you need to keep as much weight as passible on the inside tyres. Most easily done after the weights by increasing the inside rebound damper
  17. At the end of the say its down to personal choce, but a wheel and pedals gives you much finer control so IMHO opinion it has to be better in the long run at least for new games. For older games like Heat a pad is probabl a bit quicker.
  18. This is the only sunday I probably cannot make Short notice and next week is aug bank holiday so not sure we will get an accurate number for the next couple of weeks

    Meeting?

My thinking was that with over 40 pairs of skins created for the skinpack there is plenty of intrest in this mod. Maybe what we should do is if we can get use of the server is come up with a format announce a meeting that people need to sign up for and then if we don't get enough numbers we cancel. Not much work and could turn out to be great.

    Meeting?

Bump. Would be a shame to let this die, I am willing to put together a series on Sunday evenings running from now till the end of the year if admin are willing to let me use jolt 3 and have the admin password for grid setting etc.
  21. It does. graphics are a bit bland and turning the correct way to get of the garage the first time. Having said that being banked and bumpy makes it a different challenge to the sexberium or ippy dirt
  22. I found I could have a quick setup (15 dead) that would be ok for 6 or 7 laps then would start to oversteer like crazy or a slightly slower setup that was good for 15 - 20 laps. That of course is fine for normal meetings but if the championship races are longer then it really would turn into a tyre conservation race as much as speed.
  23. Is is possible to get a list of all the tracks in development so there is not a duplication of effort
  24. Rfactor will work on Vista but the few people I know who have tried it have had problems getting the sound to work and are running dual boot. May be worth finding out if the soundcard is 100% Vista compatible
