  1. Agree with Pry, Feb 29th is a long time to wait, set up a league to run along side and end about the same time if possible. Got The Pikeys next, they have played every team I have the week before, and from the looks of it softened them all up for me. Think the Gas Works unbeaten run may get kicked into touch on Sunday.
  2. Edit - was typing up when Hutch made his 2nd post - NP m8, thanks. If/when the F2 Rfactor mod gets done it'll will probably change over, chances are I will race F1s eventually, if the UK Dirt League changes for 2008 that is a definite. And then the 'idiots' will be racing rfactor, because they are members of the UK Dirt league and have paid their JOLT fee. Kane's ban will be up at the end of 2007 if he pays up he will be in with you/us next season. Till he gets banned no doubt, but if its not him someone else will be there to take on the mantle. Its not a good thing but its the nature of the beast. That is my point - in relation to Drumbsticks post about a change of culture. When you raced UK Dirt F2s earlier this year you kept asking for over 18 only servers - and that is why I kept saying no. Looking at the reasons for banning people in UK Dirt F2 the last 2 seasons about 10% are Kane types, 40% are bad decisions or hits gone wrong, usually from a lap down. The other 50% are red mist over reactions, usually by generally decent drivers. We can't ban everyone just in case, if you only want people who won't react to events during a race you'd best get your private server back up and hand pick your competitors. I am not sure a more demanding (realistic) mod is going to improve driving standards, which seems to be the implication whenever I read you evangelising about your superdooper rfactor - and this thread proves it. I agree with Drumbsticks idea, but experience tells me it won't happen. There are very good reasons for going to rfactor, chances are Heat will just die eventually so it may be out of necessity. We could run 2 mods side by side - logistically it would have implications for server time and getting the admin to run them and watch the replays and hand out the bans, but neither are insurmountable.
  3. Good luck with that m8, perhaps you could secure world peace and end global starvation when you have finished. I don't race rfactor (yet) so its not really my business, but the LEAGUE is UK Dirt, and its the people who make the league - and make it worth loading the game up 4/5 nights a week. Its not perfect by any means, but thats why we have admin and rules and bans. Rather than change a culture that is already (deeply embedded) here, perhaps you'd be better to create your own. This isn't meant as a dig or a sod off, just a statement of reality. This forum (and others) are full of debates about driving standards on DTSR, Heat, UK Dirt. I am not sure why you think rfactor would/ should be different? (I'd be interested to know). All the other leagues I am aware of have similar (or much worse) problems. The realism or beauty of the game is secondary to me (and I suspect more than a few others), I'd race a league with ZX81 graphics if it played alright, was organised well and was a good laugh. And I'd still be lap downed or taken out some nights. When in 15 years time we all have pods in the back garden to race in it will still happen, it depends whether you keep coming back. I hope you do, the strength of the league (rather than the size) depends on the quality of people at its core. ! V V ! ! V V ! Front 2 (well both) rows of the ZXDirt World Final. At the distinctive Brandon Stadium. ] V V [ ] V V [ British Champs Final - this time at Belle Vue.
  4. Unlucky for LeeK having 2 first choice defenders out, the scoreline flattered us a bit. Obviously, I'm over the moon for the lads, but its a marathon not a sprint and you get nothing for being top in December. We'll be taking each game as it comes.
  5. Motson should be sacked before Mclaren, it was like a cross between the worst final days of Murray Walker and Brian Moore last night. Best moment for me was when Motson said 'say something Mark (Lawrenson), I'm lost for words' and the reply '.... I can't...' came back. Classic. Why do the BBC have an Irishman and a Scot as the experts in the studio for England games? because Shearer, Wright and Lineker are too dumb assed to repeat 'Abysmal defending' over and over again. Very incisive lads. We can't play without foreigners and we can't even talk about the game ourselves. Sacking Mclaren and finding a replacement will just cost a load of money that isn't worth spending. Capello, Lippi, Mourinho, Scolari won't come and manage England, why should they have their reputations destroyed by a media fronted by imbeciles? Besides that unless they have the miracle healing touch what different would they have done last night? Owen got injured again on Friday night, but he's been a private physios wet dream for the last 3 years, Terry and Rooney, Hargreaves and Cashley were injured for their club sides. I don't think Aaron Lennon actually exists he's a figment of a collective derranged imagination brought on by drugged water supplies in 2006. The goal keeper is a disaster whoever you put in. I don't think anyone would hand on heart say I would have played Robinson or Calamity James instead with confidence, besides Carson made up for his mistake with the save from the corner in the 2nd half. Beckham is an impact player now, he made an impact, and his legs went before the end of the game. IMO the problem was/is that Gerrard and Lampard can't play central midfield properly - that is why Chelsea and Liverpool have 2 others to tidy up for them in pretty every big game. International football against the top 10/16 teams is pretty much a war of attrition, England are the only nation who think they can play 1 holding midfielder. Last night in front of a defence that is the worst/ least experienced in my memory. It didn't occur to Gerrard or Lampard to actually hold, stay goal side, keep the ball, protect their defence and work the Croatians. I'm not sure any manager can compete with that. Spent so long writing this rant that it looks like he is gone, lol.
  6. This thread has been teetering on the edge for a while so we'll call it a day there I think. There are car & track feedback threads already set up, and there will be more Test Meetings in the future. There is no need for anyone to get personal regardless, of your or their opinons. The work of the development team is appreciated, and the views of existing members will be taken into account when the time comes - a way away yet.
  7. He probably wanted to PM himself with an offer to paint a skin.
  8. In reality where we all stand is (and pretty much always have) is here. If you decide to use a swear word for whatever reason in chat, on the forum or in JOLT, you run the risk of getting acted against, be it through a complaint by a member or a member of admin bringing it up in the admin forum. If you feel that a word or post is against the rules, report it and it will be looked at. The 3 that you raised McCrew have been looked at and MC has added some comments to the reports, I personally agree with all he has said. It's not 100% consistent or perfect, live with it. I've never seen an application to join admin say 'I am especially looking forward to monitoring every single post on the forum, chat transcript and JOLT server log for the all examples of the use of swearing as I feel it should be stamped out'. If someone did say that I would probably vote against them joining. I am surprised you didn't raise this post, as its about as tenuous as the others that you did. I don't think admin posts are subject to the word filter that members are. If the 'filtered' had come up on my original post (the one above) I would have changed the word, and I will look out for that in future.
  9. Perhaps we could have a Maus Memorial Meeting? I will happily do a F2 Maus Pack and then we could all race all our favourite Maus skins, you'd need to change every race obviously. Rules would be relaxed, nerfing and jump starting encouraged. In between races we could send PMs to each other saying 'Can you do me a skin?', 'Can I have your set up?', 'Please don't ban me', 'Daveyboy is going to get me', 'The warp ruined my race', 'it was skiddy, that is why I lap downed them'. Only problem is Memorial Meetings are usually after someone dies......
  10. If only there were a few posts on the forum warning skin painters about Maus.
  11. I think you covered pretty much all the areas for discussion lads. Jon, you have your own SOD forum and an area on Ovalchat from what I can make out, maybe you could continue this intellectual debate there?
  12. All the work Mav has done for the F2 admin has been excellent and far beyond anything I envisaged when he joined, he will take a huge amount of replacing, and will probably take us a little while to get up to full speed. Thanks for all you have done and good luck for the future.
  13. Bar closed, take it out to the street please. And a couple of signatures that need altering, before they get altered for you.
  14. More informed comment from the London Renatgob - are you aware of the actual full story or did you just skim read this thread? Surely you have something crass and pointless to say about the murder of the wife & son. Of course its pretend, they don't actually connect with each other, and the ladders they dive off are really 3 feet tall, they are all dwarves, its a a brilliant piece of illusion camera work, isn't it?
  15. That is a shocking tragedy, and would be if it had been a prime minister, plumber or call centre operative, so I am not sure that I lose respect for his professional 'achievements' in the light of this. I know its not on the same level but George Best or Alex Higgins weren't regarded as a lesser footballer or snooker player because of his many off field problems As a wrestler Benoit made me go 'you mad b'tard' probably as much as any other 1 I can think of. Having said that maddest of all Mick Foley is a successful author now, and seems like a well adjusted person, he did get out earlier. Its an incredibly stressful life on the road pretty much all the time and basically trying to break yourself every night, so it has to have contributed. Stone Cold, Edge, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero (before his death) all had reasonably well documented personal issues. I think WWE has to look at the pressures it puts wrestlers under. Having read the Stone Cold autobiography they basically throw anything down themselves that they think might keep them going. The career goes on much longer now as well, Benoit was one of the early ones to have neck surgery that fused together his vertebra - tbh when your body is that knackered you should be taking the hint IMO.
  16. Happy Birthday m8, have a good day
  17. Thanks a lot lads, having a great day.
  18. Thanks a lot lads, having finally got me house trained after 5 years Chrissie decided to keep me. We don't have enough money saved to get the garden fence done, so decided to get married instead. Its odd how your logic works after a few hours in Amsterdam bars. We are still getting a new shed in May, so I am taking anything for granted, lol. Have set the date for the Friday before the August Bank Holiday, looking forward that and the future.
