In the final I was running 6th or so (yes I was!!!) when Leech was recovering from a spin on lap 5. I collected him and was forced onto the centre green mid bend. I didnt fully spin, but pulled the car round to the right and rather than try and rejoin on the bend I rejoined half way down the back straight - safely (Just like any real driver would have done!!). I was then classed as 19th (and last), no problem with that, but when I crossed the start finish line half a lap later, the game did NOT advance a lap to lap 6, it made me drive lap 5 again, thus instantly putting me a lap down, when theoretically I wasn't. I very much doubt that even though I did finish 15th, that regaining that lap would alter the result as far as the points go, but I just want to make drivers aware that this has happened. I would hate for someone to loose say the lead in the Semi Final because you were forced onto the centre green and made to do another lap. Nightmare for Admin also. Other than that I thought it went ok for me although I am yet to be comfortable on shale. Many many many apologies to Matthew, whom I took out after allowing the leaders by and then due to me slowing so much the hard squirt of the accelerator caused me to spin right in front of him - Sorry m8. Best left on my own when on track, otherwise I may become the new rFactor Big Al, as he seems to be picking it up very well!!!! Hopefully see you all next week at Arena / Wimbledon, then onto the season - Possibly!! ;-)

Dependant on how the Newcastle v WBA game is going depends on whether I will be there at 8:30pm - So very provisional please ;-) Dave is including my skin from last year, once he's wiped off Drum's bumper marks

Thanks Mor - that information answers my concerns over the skins and the game. I do stand corrected tho, as it is indeed the GAMEDATA that is 4GB not the USERDATA. Cheers

Having looked at possibilities why my laptop struggles with rFactor, even though I have all the effects on the lowest setting. I then came across the folder which holds our skins. My Tarmac OL folder is 280mb and the shale OL folder is 278mb and that doesn't include the gaming files. My USERDATA folder is 4GB - This is alot of information for my processor and graphics card to cope with!!! Compare this to UK Dirt F1 Heat the entire folder is 194mb and the run file is 165mb. I know rfactor is better, thats why we have moved to it, but surely the skins that we create should be at 1024 pixels (342kb) each rather than 2048 (1.33mb) each. (Remember we have 4 skins on each surface.) Wouldn't this cut down on the processing power required to run the game or does this significantly reduce the effect of the game??? If it doesn't have an inpact could we please have the skins at 1024 pixels, especially if more people join the league. It would also help the skin pack size, download capacity of the server etc. Any thoughts???

I found it difficult to get laps in whereby I could tell if the way I drove affected the tyre wear. It was hectic at times, and yes the constant hits after you had just past cars did get annoying, but however the physics are, I just try to drive. I wanted to try and change my corner angle and speeds to see what effect it had, but I guess this would only be possible if you are the only car on track. As you would expect, I do agree that the physics don't matter a great deal, apart from damage and make up of the car, its how the cars are driven. If people want to do what Budge did, they can, the physics won't stop that, and the more worn out the tyres become, the more they would turn to doing this style of driving as they know that they are not going to get back into contention for a place. If the tyre wear was to stay on x2, then people would adapt over time, as they would with any change to the game. TomD has won, MOR has won, Tosh has won, so it is possible from the back especially if the mid-field pack start belting each other. Saying that it would put newbies off for me is not right. If you want to drive these you will whatever the physics, people will help out and they will learn. rFactor will not be mastered overnight like Heat could be. Personally, I like to drive the car, not race it. I am not interested in belting the car in front, (thats not to say I won't do it from time to time), I prefer to be raced against, pushed wide by a faster car to make a race of it, knowing that I won't retaliate next bend with a big hit, there may be a hit but not a race ending one. All this helps me get the car to the end of the race, so even with high tyre wear, I can cope - just!; after all I did win a final using this strategy and not from the very front before you say!!!! Endurance not a sprint for me. So Summing up, whatever the car physics, I will drive a style to suit and learn to manage the situation as it arises.

Extremely chuffed to have won the final, especially how I actually passed cars to take the lead, then loose it dropping to 4th, and some good fortune to miss the pileup that slowed Tom and Harmen. Nervy last two laps waiting for the hit to end my race but it never came; So I won As for the tyre situation, well in my case rfactor is difficult to drive as I don't have the time or patience to work through to get a decent setup, so I go with what I can drive on the day. In practice on wednesday Night I worked on the setup and managed a 12.9; but come thursday the harder I tried the more I spun. I then concentrated on trying not to slide the car and "drive" round the track, and then found that I could do more laps before the car went loose. Thats what I tried to do in the races, and it went ok for me. So the tyres were just another problem I had to overcome during the course of the race. I can, however, see it from the reds and beyond point of view. They need to be making good headway early on in a race to be in with a shout at the end of the race, but being careful is not easy to do when so much is going on around you. But then isn't that what Frankie and Andy have to do also??? I worked around it and was ok with it, but it is a tad easier from the front, not sure what my comments would be if I went from blue or red.

BOOKING OPEN FOR GISBORNE WEDNESDAY 2ND DECEMBER
Mav replied to Spike's topic in NZ Superstocks (rFactor)
Maverick - 6p -
As said in the results thread, really enjoyed it, not on the pace or competitve with top guys but nevertheless gave them a run for their money when they came to lap me!!! Pleased it wasn't a full blown take out session, as some of the side by side "Rubbing" was sheer delight to do - nothing about last night was bad for me as I was left alone to race, and as Trav says "No Moaning" and considering I was in there racing thats unbelieveable!!! Suggestion for the future meetings. As the drivers took awhile to line up (up to 5 minutes in one heat last night), as they did not take any notice of the forum or Spike's post whilst practice was going on, would it not be possible to go to the "race" and when control given to drivers, they then wait until there number is called by Spike, whether in ones or twos, and they immediately go to the back straight and line up, no messing, no late arrivals. That way people are not trying to work out who is 6p etc and where they are in relation to him, they go straight to their grid slot when it is called. This should speed up the lining up process and as soon as the last guy joins the grid, the race may commence. Just an idea

At first, when I went into the server, I was blitzed every time I took to the track and thought that it was going to be utter crap for me. I had no real setups and people were not giving me chance to set the car up so was going to give up like I usually do. However, I managed to get one track right, then another then another and when I was able to keep up, it became very enjoyable. In the races, I was left alone and enjoyed side by side action rather than obliteration and it was really really good!!!! Several races I mixed it with Mike and Hutch and because we raced it really gave me a buzz - unlike any other rfactor mod. I know I will feel the opposite if it becomes a full blown take out mod, but if it was to cxarry on like last night for me, I can really see myself enjoying this mod to the max. I would love my F1 to handle like this, but in NZ the tracks flow and are wider giving more scope to correct errors. I agree with Nezza, the cars felt really good when sliding into the bend, hardly ever losing the back end, unlike F1's whereby the slightest slide and I spin. Enjoyed it guys, especially when "racing" - looking forward to some more next week Well Done Spike & Trav - did well running it dispite some people being uncooperative.

Why are you two being so uptight ??? I merely put my point of view forward stating that I didn't agree with the punishment as I felt Aub did everything he could in the situation (other than wait until the whole field had passed, which really happens in real life ). Of which I knew Admin wouldn't change their decision and wasn't why I posted, yet you both replied rather bolshy, but apart from the snide remarks, you did answer as to why you came to that decision, and accepted the explaination. I then happened to watch the footage of Kimi very late at night, for me, and laughed to myself the similarities, so I posted it up for fun. Apologies if it wasn't clear enough for you that it was posted with humour; Both of you then couldn't see that and once again "attacked" me with your replies. Sorry if the docking of someone who gained places on you and owned up about it has upset you so much Mav, we will try to give you something a bit more worthwhile to moan about next time. Trying to turn it back on me Al, saying I am moaning is very poor and very suprising from you, as you were the one who always told me that when it becomes personal it should'nt be on the forum. Is it any wonder that people don't post their opinions on an open forum anymore for fear of being lambasted like this.

Lucky Kimi drives in F1 GP not F1 rFactor!! - Intentional usage of a run off area purely to gain momentum and places. But he avoids an accident by taking this route and re-joins the race safely albeit 2 places higher. No punishment though He reminds me of a certain Mr.Gilbank Sometimes its just plain common sense that should prevail.

Bit surprised by this. From what I have seen Aub didn't choose to go onto the shale, I forced him on but then he slowed, circulated slower on the shale, then re-joined the track as near to the start of the straight as he could in a sensible move. Yes he gained 2 places by it at the time, but if he had of tried to rejoin where he left, he may have taken other people out inadvertantly. As it was he went wide a lap later and eventually lost those places he gained anyway. He couldn't have given those places back as he wasn't sure, and nor was I until I watched the replay and I was involved, whom he had passed in the heat of the moment. I would have thought that as he did go slower on the shale, re-join in a sensible way, didn't speed down most of the shale before re-joining, that Admin should feel that Aub did everything he could not to cause further incident and followed what Admin have always said about re-joining the raceway. He couldn't help gaining those places and he wasn't seeking to gain an advantage by it either as it was so early in the race, and as I said I he lost out those places a lap or so later anyway. What more could have Aub done that wouldn't have caused him to be docked, because I feel he did all the right things in the circumstances. If no-one else officially complained about Aub, especially Wee Dode or I (as we were directly involved), then the incident should have been left as a racing incident, with no punishment attached.
