Dell are very good (I've recently had a laptop from there) - just a word of advice if you do go for Dell, check back regularly as they update their offers quite a bit, if you can drop on a double memory offer that upgrades 1GB RAM to 2GB RAM then you can get yourself a bargain which should be super for all the latest games, and of course rFactor. So before you rush into buying anything just keep an eye out as they do double memory quite alot and it makes one hell of a difference! Hope this helps MoR

I'm pretty sure that when you import a model into max, which has been taken from a current .car file that it imports it really really small, and possibly the wrong orientation also, so it looks like you have the rather tedious task for uniform scaling the model until it looks correct on the wheelbase, but the good news is, it's not a problem as such, just an inconvenience lol!

When i started racing slotstox i had to pick a number pretty promptly, so I picked my birthday, which is on 13/7. The number has stuck through anything I've raced since.

A little preview of some of my modelling for the f1 mod...... Progress has been slow for me due to college work and the fact i did a ton of 'heat' projects in the last 5 or 6 months of last year, but i'm only a week away from my college deadline now so when that's passed i can concentrate on putting the finishing touches to this and then maybe knock up another one or two models Hope you all like it (but remember it ain't finished yet, and the paintjob isn't 100%)

I've come across this problem numerous times on my course, and usually there's three possible solutions to it: 1/ Make sure 'show tranform gizmo' is ticked in 'Views' at the top. 2/ x on its own is the shortcut to turn the gizmo off, so you can try that aswell, as mentioned before. 3/ Go to Customize>Preferences then on the Gozmo's tab make sure the 'On' box is ticked under 'Transform Gizmo's' It looks like your sorted anyway, but i thought i'd type up what I believe to be the main three causes/solutions for future reference. Cheers MoR

Maybe, but its not really a recommended level for any game, whether it be offline or online. Whilst the rF game engine can handle a surreal amount of polys (i've heard of a track with half a million i think?) its not really feasible to have a high poly track with 20 x 70000 poly cars flying around it. The F1s that we've built for rF are around the 10000 mark, not including upgrades. Great modelling Genie, stunning work! Would be really interested to see the jebby when its done, it was one of my dads favourite stock cars of all time, something which I suppose has rubbed off on me aswell! Just abit off subject, are you the same GreenGenie that used to race UKDirt a few years ago (03 off the top of my head)?

Congratulations to you both!

I'm not 100% sure, but it might be set to 'Read-Only' Try finding an excel file you want to open, right click it and choose properties and check that the Read-only box isn't ticked? Might work, but like I say, i'm not 100% sure.

Stoxnet homepage has it, with stills aswell. Get well soon FWJ

Its a fact of life with BT i'm afraid aussie...... I've been on it about 3 and a half years now as the disconnecting has always been a problem. I was constantly ringing their helpline and was ran through loads of stupid checks on my pc which were always no help. Only after I rang them 5 times in one day it would 'miraculously' fix itself for a month, until it started doing it again. Eventually after 2 or so years of that rubbish, we had a BT technician come out who (thankfully) doesn't believe in BT products, and set us up with a nice 2 socket main line socket and a chunky CAT5 cable, which meant I got the connection direct from the main line, without going through all the phone/skybox/microfilter rubbish. The internet was stable for a whole years racing without a single drop in connection then....... until... My Dad recently upgraded (so he thought ) us to the BT Total 8meg option 2 package in december, and they sent me the big cheap looking eye sore (called the home hub). With my old modem, and now with the hub, BT is an unreliable as it always used to be. If you have problems, or want it to stabilise before racing, i always find switching off your PC and modem/home hub at the mains for 10 minutes or so, 20 mins before the meeting helps, as I noticed mine tends to only drop if its been on an hour or two. Otherwise, ring their helpline five times in a row, shout some abuse, and then they'll flick the switch back to 'on' for you, until the end of the month. Cheers MoR
