  1. Thanks for the quick reply! Booking for Mart435 then please, yellow top i think.
  2. Am i able to race tonight without a skin of my own?
  3. Lol that sounds a bit like building a new f2.........
  4. I`ve got a ps3 but what bit do you need for your f2?
  5. Great work lads, i`m not a grasstrack fan and wont be downloading it (not got the time to play anymore mods!) but you can release whatever makes you happy whenever you want as far as i`m concerned cos i cant make the mods myself. I do think a couple of you in this thread need to think about what you type though, Walker, i know you were trying to say but maybe you could have worded it better. Freew67, if you dont care less about what he says why bother replying to it!
  6. Can i have a play tonight too please using a novice skin. Also is there a skinpack i`ll need for tonight too?
  7. Cheers Budge, youre not being negative, helpfull! I`d much sooner you say something now then wait until after and say "i did think they wasnt strong enough!" The arms are around the same length as the one`s on the later Higgy so i`ll find out what wall tubing they use.
  8. Cheers lads, i`d thought about o2 before cos my mobile is with them but wasnt sure how good they are. With o2 my exchage doesnt have their own equipment in it so i have to pay more but i will have a look into it.
  9. I`m thinking of switching my broadband supplier, i currently use Fast.co.uk who have been really good but they are just too expensive (£34 a month for 8meg download speed and a 40gb limit)- i know you get what you pay for but i`m sure there is another company out there they could offer the same for less. We dont get Virgin around here so cable is out of the question and i need something reliable, there`s not much point having a cheap provider if its nothing but trouble! So the question is, who do you use??
  10. Maybe Warton is a 4.1 diff?
  11. Sorry about the double post, must have a stutter!
  12. First job was to cut the old outriggers off each side of the chassis and remove the plate that the trailing arms actually attach to and weld those to a section of thickwall tubing. Once i had grinded away the remains of the outriggers from the chassis and undercarrage i could then weld my new mounts in place, there were done as far forward as i could (under the front of the rollcage) to ensure the trailing arms are as long as possible. All that was left to do then was make up some longer trailing arms from thinkwall tubing and an insert welded into each end or so i thought....... about 3 different lower nerfrail supports had to be cut off and moved cos the new longer arms hit them when i moved the axle up and down through its travel. Oh well at least i found it out now and not when i hit the first bump! I`m still trying with the panels, so far both cab side have been made but i find it very hard work and slow going.
  13. Just a quick update. The car now has got a floor, well it`s the one out of the old car slightly cut to fit! I`ve welded the mounts for the anti roll bar to the chassis and fitted that. The inside front shocker mount was at the wrong angle so out came the big grinder and i cut a slot in it, adjusted the angle with the big adjustment tool (sledge) and welded it back up, perfect! I fitted my new exhaust and used the mount off the old car, it needed cutting down so the silencer isnt too close to the outside rear tyre/shocker, all i need to do now is bend a short section after the silencer so it points down and doesnt overheat the shocker. Then i`ve had yet another change of plan, this time with the rear suspension. With the car being based on 2002 Higgy the back axle trailing arms are relatively short, longer arms should equal more grip. After going to Rubber and Tug`s weddding and seeing Rubber had made much longer trailing arms (he did this cos some idiot bent the old ones when he hit him while he was parked up....) it made up my mind to do mine. Here`s the old suspension with the chassis pickup points on outriggers.....

  15. Keep at it mate, your getting there! It still sounds like it isnt revving much btw
  16. Mine wouldnt rev much once at Birmingham and it was down to the fact that vernier cam pulley had moved and retarded the valve timing after hitting a parked up Rubber flat out at Belle vue the week before. The engine was as flat as a fart and wouldnt rev out or pull as well as it should up the straights, it`s worth checking it.
  17. Yeah, everyone seems to do it now. My first car had the tank behind the seat and the higgy had it on the nerf rail but against the chassis. Rob Batten uses a long thin tank tucked right against the outside of the nerf rail so he can get as much weight as possible as far over to the left as he can.
  18. Good thinking that man, i`ll see what the scales have to say!
  19. Cheers Budge, do you mean one running along the nerf rail underneath the main one? Its gonna have a plate running the length of the rail to protect the tank, even if it`s a light 2mm one.
  20. Well done on 5th mate, a top start to the season for you!
  21. I`m not going to show the panels until they are all done mainly incase i make a balls up of them and have to do them again! Other news , I fetched 4 8" banded steels wheels for the back of the car on Sunday from long time sponsor WAYNEHELLIWELLRACING and i have also gained one possibly two new sponsors, firstly METALSDIRECT will be supplying us with all the new steel/alloy for the car and all going well SIGNSPLASTIC will be supplying and fitting the vinyl signwriting to the car.
  22. Next up was to make a start at panelling, this is something i`ve never done before so i was a little nervous when i first started attacking the virgin alloy sheet with the nibbler! I was advised to make a cardboard template for the panel first to get the shape then trace it onto the alloy sheet to guide cutting so here`s the template on the car.
  23. Sorry for the delay but he`s a small update, Since the last update i`ve remounted the steering rack but Dad still isn`t happy with the smoothness of the rack so he`s going to shorten another rack for me so we can try that one. The frame over the engine made to support the bonnet/protect the engine has been cut off in the interests of weight saving (although if i stay off the beer i`d gain the biggest weight saving!) The prop hoop has ben fabricated and welded to the chassis, in the past i`ve always had one bolted to the underside of the seat, this one is welded to the chassis meaning i dont have to mess about removing the seat if i need to change the diff. The battery, fuel tank, fuel pump and fuel regulator/fuel filter have all been mounted on the inside for some inside weight. While on the subject of inside weight i bought a section 6mm plate to run down the inside nerfrail of the car giving plenty of inside weight to aid cornering, now i read on the Ftooz forum that the average sheet of 6mm plate weighs in at around 7kg which isnt too much extra weight to be carrying around but when i weighed my new sheet, it weighs 14kg!!! so until i`ve build the car up and got it on some scales without the plate it`s staying off, inside weight is all well and good on the bends but you still have to pull it down the straights!
  24. Well done Kruiz, its looking good, when are you hoping to be out? And nice one Ironmac, looks like i`ve got another Ukdirt driver to play with in the real ones and lets hope we get on as well as we do in the online racing.....
  25. Why doesnt matter anymore as it`s not out choice to make, we just get on with it but moaning about stuff aint gonna help - other drivers are gonna think you are a moaner and start using you as fence fodder!
