This one Ill never forget, Blockbuster @ Westworld 2002 ? 2003?

I was in front row with my family (see purple lining) bout 4-5 mtr from it when this hit happened

Still cant believe he stepped out unhurt

I was at the opposite end of the track ernie and from where we were standing I though he must've been dead as you could clearly see the chassis being ripped like a tin opener effect. The most amzing thing i thought was I was talking to the driver Mark Marchant in the pits after he'd loaded the car on the lorry and he turned the key at which point the motor fired up 1st time. :o

says it all then, if it was still on the key.

Thanks for the video clip Cap  he certainly caught the post nicely didn't he! lucky it wasn't lefthand drive. I can't believe how clean that coupe was, hardly any rust visible in those pics!

My best was on a dirt track, and I took a lap run up to jack a cortina estate that had already been involved in a head on with a mk2 escort.

I totaly turtled the tina, and knocked the driver out cold. Shame I never got a pic of that one!

Ouch, i bet that guy would need to get out the drivers seat of the ambulace and get in the back of it lol, lucky its left hand drive or he would have been mess :3:

Is it just me or is that Armco at Camso made of Concrete??

Thats probobly why his legs were broke!!

he was a mess, broke both legs and still isnt back out there as far as i no

Poor guy, 2 broken legs are horrible, thats a wheel chaire job, i think people should be a bit more carefull when doing high speed followins, somtimes i think they get a bit carried away

I know it wasn't on purpose and its the risk you take when you get in a banger but its pretty grim when people get hurt bad

I don't think that ambulance would have folded as bad had he used proper door plates.

video here sorry.. http://www.rollingstart.co.uk/videoclips.html..

search down the page and click on the video named Warneton - May 2005

There should be a granny estate and another car flipped on its roof..

I watched the video, i don't want to sound like a boring idiot, but in my option that track looks to fast for Bangers in the fact that thouse followins are way to quick to hit the armco square on, plus i also think that if he did badly break both legs in the crash that i don't think that particula clip should be on the net, as i don't think many people should like to see somone get hurt so much having their legs crushed into the twisted metal :3:

EDIT: also just noticed his race number is 13

when i went to watch pri vs camso at warneton, i thought it was a wicked track, but i rember a little bit from it as i was bout 11 when i went there, the track was massive and i was suprised bangers could race there but at the same time, mk2's could only stay in 2nd couldnt get to 3rd so the speed is not that much more, i do agree with Rikard but banger racing has its risks and the racer should be aware of what they are racing etc.

what do you mean by proper door plates its got two more than resnoble doors plates on the side of the car, any way if u look at the wrecked picture the doors are still held toghet theyve just ripped of the hinges/door skin. :5:

Well, it was a longer and faster track than most perhaps, and he should have adjusted the size of his door plates accordingly. or included bars in his cage to prevent the car from folding too badly. As for the door plates, I'm talking more along the lines of this;

That Merc ambulance was solid.

It only folded because it went in square on, or as good as. IMO there was nothing that wouldve stopped the car from bending like that, except much less speed on impact with the fence.

Its just a fact of bangers, that every now and then your going to get injuries.

I was lucky that in 15 yrs of racing bangers, the worst I did was break a bone in my hand, and suffer some sore ribs, cuts burns etc, but everytime that you do up that harness and put on that that skid lid, you have to face up to the fact that you could cop THE big one of your career, and you may not get out OK.

Like it says on the admission ticket " Motorsport is dangerous".

If he Concreted the arches it would of bounced off  Pri and proud

Cant recall that m8 to be honoust. it was very rotten (like most mercs from that age)

I was on the homestraight at the moment the impact happened, usually you hear a sound of crushing metal but now it sounded like a hammer knocking on wood......

If you look right to the video you see that the right front wheel wasnt able to steer (it was welded or summit like that after it was broken in previous heat.... so the driver wasnt able to make the turn to the left properly to avoid a collision with the concrete....

About the broken leg(s) : I heard the driver has told he put the gasspedal to the floor untill he contacted the concrete , if he had pulled his feet from the pedal just before the impact probably it would have been different.....

Bangers at warneton are gr8 to watch , but dangerous for drivers IMO

What narks me is that this is a "best" hit ever seen thread and someone has posted up pictures of someone breaking his legs.

So your best hit was someone being crippled, that's just pathetically sad.

I always thought 'proper' door plates bolted right through both door skins not just 1!
