752 on 2nd go. Funny noises he makes when he has had a few

Bloody hell, enough track suggestions to keep us going until we are O.A.P's! Finishing off the Supra now which is the last car for Bangers which I am doing (I know FBF has some) and then will hopefully be starting a track. Already had some invaluable help from NickM (Hours of help, literally hours) and from (hope he doesnt mind me saying) James, both of whom have helped me no end into getting in to track modelling. Here is a pic of what i have done so far, but being very much on a learning curve, it is probably abit basic and rusty round the edges. Not really based on any track at all, just wanted to create something easy, get it in game and working with full knowledge on how to do it be fore i attempt a real life track, which will probably be either St Day or Westworld first (possibly Westworld seeing as its oval with little banking and basic graphics to look at). The idea of this is if we possibly do go to RFactor, it will hopefully be fairly easy to convert the tracks over, so im also thinking of the future aswell

If you are using the Sierra physics, then all you have to do is select the side view of the car in max, select all the parts (Rollcage, Seat, Metro etc etc) And then gradually move it backwards in max until you get them in place.

That sort of question is posted in the wrong place here really mate, would probably get alot more answers on Ovalchat like chewy said. RDC has points charts for all there banger drivers, so have a look there for some, a link can be found from www.wellbent.cjb.net

I assume you mean real life as opposed to online? Best place to ask that sorta question is on the Ovalchat forum. Click here I think he means banger drivers who race real life who also race online, although i maybe wrong
-
Just go onto NickM's website and download his max files for Swaffham, other then that i dont think so

Awesome Muns, top work mate

Nice one Pete, Cunny very kindly has recommended a few cards, so will definately look into that, especially now its near christmas, might go and treat myself
-
Im wasting my time then, thanks for the info John
-
Not being an expert, but take your soundcard out, and put it back in, then turn your computer back on and Windows should find and reinstall your card for you. Alternatively, try going to Control Panel, then Add Hardware and see if you can pick out your souncard to install it. Hope i have got that right

How sad! I like the bit at the bottom of the text where it says ''hand made by me''. Might have been a bit of a giveaway

Ok, dont ask me how i got it to work but it has, ive managed to get the 256mb card installed. The graphics on the computer are not much better tbh, and in heat in options>graphics the specs are the same as the onboard, although im 100% sure it is runing off the card (I mean the monitor cable is plugged into the card for a start, in properties it says its running off of the graphics card etc etc) In the Nvidia display screen it allows you to adjust the settings for your card, so i moved the sliders right up to maximum, go back into heat and see what it is and its worse then the onboard! I dont really know how much you can read into that, but it seems to be a good little test of how good your computer graphics are running?? Any ideas on how to get it runnning right? Thanks to everyone who has helped so far dazza

ive played the game using all of the different car packs and some of them are still red. any other ideas Check the drivers.txt in each of the folders e.g Unlimiteds, 2 litres etc etc and make sure there are lots of different drivers entries.

I have had a complete re install of windows, and i uninstalled/removed all the drivers for the old card. And yes, James reminded me about changing back from PCI to AGP so I have done that. The reason i am trying this card is it recommends using a AGP card, so i thought it would plug in and work easy as that, obviously i was wrong!! Will keep trying with this AGP card for now Dazza

The problems seem never ending for me now. Thanks to Cunny i now have a Radeon 64mb graphics card, AGP, but when i go to install it, it wont work. I put the card in , turn the comp on, the computer will boot up but the screen stays black?? So now im back to running the onboard graphics. I have started to prey to god now!! Dazza

cheers for the suggestion lads, i just turned off pc in a temper and left it for a couple hours and it worked when i turned it back on again
-
Thanks mate, worked a treat. The latest problem is with MSN again. As i cant use 7.5 i have to use 7.0. It installs fine, and can sign in fine, but whenever somebody sends me a message, the little box goes right out of screen so you cant see it. You cant even drag it back in by guessing where it is. I have un-installed and re-installed it 3 or 4 times, tried a system restore from an earlier point, but none of it works. Any ideas lads?? Im nearly there with this pc now!! Dazza

if you're on XP, go into control panel, then into system and select the device manager tab - you should get a list of all installed devices (hardware) on the PC, and will hopefully find an exclamation mark next to the sound devices, where the drivers may not be installed properly - then try the 'update driver' feature to reinstall the drivers for the sound card - i've just had the same happen on mine (new hd, had cd's for all of the devices except the sound so had to use xp drivers to get that going) i'm not great at this stuff lol but look at the device manager to see if you have exclamation marks anywhere in the device list Thanks for the suggestion, but i cant see any exclamation marks in the device manager. It all says its installed and working properly. I think this happened to me before when installed Windows on a fresh hard disk, i think Cunny sent me a program to sort it out, but cant remember what it was. Will try and get hold of him

Ok here is the situation. After invaluable help from a number of people, not least Nick Cunny or Ray, i have managed to boot up an old hard drive i found, connect up one of my other hard drives get the data i want, and then reinstall windows on one of my new hard drives. But now i cant get any sound, only that annoying 'beep' sound when an application like heat opens. How do i get round that? Also i got the graphics card installed, in bios it is on PCI hardware or something similar, but i havent disabled the on board graphics just yet as that is what caused my comp to mess up in the first place. I have all the settings for the graphics card in my advanced display properties, is there anyway of making them better, o do i have to disable the onboard another way?? Or shall i just leave it?? In the banger game it says MACHINE SPEED = AWESOME FILL RATE = GREAT POLYGON RATE = BOTTLENECK What is polygon rate, and how can I improve that?? The card cant be installed properly either because i have to run a fairly low setting when playing TOCa Race Driver, although i would have thought on quite good computer specs and a 256mb card that I should be able to run it quite high. Any more ideas lads, sorry to drag this thread out so long. Dazza
-
How would i go about formatting the hard drive if i cant get onto the screen to back anything up?? Im currently using a borrowed lap top for the web etc etc
-
Great info lads, but i think i have spotted a major Boo Boo on my part! On my computer it says ''AGP slot for upgradeability'' However my card is a PCI, so im guessing that is why the card wont work?? The card was given to me so didnt think twice about what it was. I tried starting the computer up on the integrated but it wont work, so i think that i am resigned to the fact of i have to buy a new hard drive?? Although i read somewhere that you can make ''boot disk's'' so you can wipe a hard drive and put a fresh install of Windows on it. Is this true?? If so is it free and legal, and any ideas on where to get the info?? I really apprciate all the help Dazza
-
Thanks Scrap, ill give it a try in abit and see what happens. The card i have is a Geforce 5200 Fx 256mb Overclocked, so not quite as new as the gt's i dont think, and havent seen anywhere where they need the molex plug to power them although i maybe wrong. Thanks to everyne for there help Dazza P.s If it isnt the power supply what could it be?? Is it a case of buying another Hard drive and putting windows on that, the same as i did before??
-
Ok, if thats the case is there anyway to solve it?? If i take the graphics card out and try starting it up on the integrated, will it boot up or has the damage already been done?? cheers for the info though Dazza
-
Ok cheers for info John, got an aven bigger problem now. The same thing as what i had before where windows will only load to a certain stage before restarting itself over and over, with safe mode etc etc not even working! The only way i got round this last time was buying a new hard disk drive and putting windows onto that, but i cant afford to keep doing that!! Any ideas why its doing this. Its very close to falling off that window ledge at this very moment.......... Dazza
