  1. When I purchased my current car, I tried it out leaving a Coventry meeting on the M69 and I hit 130mph, was tempted to see if I could get 140mph but as those above it started to worry me the pace I was catching cars on the motorway, only take a bad move and I would have been toast! Got it out of my system after that - been there done that, kind of thing, and just glad I lived through it. Hats off to motor-bikers who do it with very little protection - Now that would scare me rigid! (Never ridden a motor-bike because of that!) Also been in a plane that did over 500mph - does that count???
  2. After my first heat, I was thinking whether I had done the right thing in racing the meeting! With a lot of yellows on the grid I found that I had to drive aggressively (but controlled! - Well as controlled as I can get ) to get anywhere. Once I had ridden the rough ride in the early laps, I managed to get away but yet those same four cars seemed to catch and pass me every race! Those were Jake, Dan, Kane and Wardieee and I was not surprised to see that they were the four cars that finished the British in the top five. Was really pleased in the end to have made the top 22 of 36 cars racing and take my place on the grid for the 2015 British Championship. The race was brutal as Stumpy said, but I survived and even managed to get from 15th on the grid to 11th and actually challenging for top ten. However the leaders were now on my tail and decided to forgo my race to let them go - In doing so 2 other cars got by me who I was racing!! Still very happy to have finished 13th, and top yellow in the race Congratulations to Jake #691, drove really well all night and deserved the title after such a bold move on Dan. A different kind of meeting than what I am used to but in the end after a poor start a satisfying meeting to have been a part of - Well Done All (Except Stijnes!)
  3. I am really disappointed to have been the cause of Twisty's incident in the GN - Apologies Twisty, no comfort after the event I know, but I am truly sorry. I was taken out of two races by the same driver, although one wasn't his fault. I would say its the nature of the track but it wasn't it was another drivers stupidity but alas! The meeting went better than expected. I haven't ever raced Sheffield in an F2 before and I know why now - lol Thought I may have held on to a top ten in the meeting final but I just wasn't consistent enough to keep ahead of the charging guys. Onward and upward!
  4. After loads of practice and a near perfect W&Y's race I was hopeful of a good scoring meeting. Small silly mistakes of my own cost me dearly in the heats, thus yet another B Final for me. Nice to win the B Final albeit it wasn't mine to win, either Mark or Danny had done enough to take the win, but I was at the right place at the right time to come through on the last bend. Really wanted to stay top of the GN Points Table, but a disappointing GN saw Spike spin me and I went backwards from there. With Tinman scoring double points in the GN, he is now leading the GN table So 2 wins, and only 3 points = Disappointed but pleased PS : Ricky, stop saying you are useless, you make me feel inadequate when I score less points than you!!!!
  5. I can never work out which chassis would be best to use! I realise Bradleys Car is a Falding build but in the game it seemed more of a square cab. The flcst just seemed to fit more areas. I may have a go at the falding chassis, see how it fits

  7. Some of you may have seen on my online car(s) "The Tyre Equipment Company" which is a Subsidiary Company for the company I work for. Last April I initiated a sponsorship deal between TEC and Bradley Harrison, but its only now that Bradley has been able to make his debut. I am proud that it has finally become reality, both for Bradley and for TEC, as my aim is to enhance TEC's profile in the industry as well as give something towards a sport I have enjoyed for over 40 years. Having supported Willie Harrison since I was a child, then growing up alongside Paul, Bradley was an obvious driver I felt should receive that "something towards the sport". I, and TEC wish Bradley all the best in his F1 Stock Car Career

    Come on

It takes all sorts of people to make things a success. In UKDirt F1's & F2's Stumpy is definitely a part of what makes it a success. When Kevin hung his starting boots up, people wondered if it would be the same again, but since then UKDirt has moved on with TeamSpeak etc and Stumpy slotted in perfectly. I have often called a few of his decisions but I have cursed at lot more when the race is started from a driver at the back, so Stumpy's contribution is unmeasurable, for the consistency and integrity of the meetings and the league itself. IF all the drivers acted as they should then the whole system would run a lot smoother and Stumpy would have only to concentrate on his performance, making his evenings enjoyment a whole lot better and more satisfying. Things that drivers do that I believe should be stopped (which causes the most issues) are : 1) Racing to your grade. Drivers should be prepared to start each race in a different position in the meeting, unlike one driver at the latest F2 meeting who raced round every race to claim pole yellow and even tried to start there after he won a race! 2) Rolling start. Drivers should NOT boot it when the Roll at 20 is given. This just causes the rest of the grade to fly and catch up, only to slow dramatically because they have caught the grade in front, thus bunching the whole grid making the race more hectic than it should be. I know Stumpy says keep up with the grade in front, which is correct, but sometimes I am doing 25+ just to stay with them. Maybe we should just say Roll and the pole car for every grade should be responsible for controlling their grade. anyone going beyond the lead car could be docked. Pole White is responsible for keeping to 20. Having said all that in general most people observe the rolling lap once it gets under way, it's just the beginning. 3) Restarts. This should be purely down to the starter. He controls the race so should decide if to restart or continue based on what he sees. A steward should have the authority to decide what happens and NOT over ruled by any Admin. They may advise but cannot dictate what should happen. Stumpy is well capable of making the decisions necessary and isn't influenced to the degree of being bias. All in all to have someone who is prepared to sit and watch rather than race is worth their weight in gold to the league. Stumpy you are that man, and I hope that UKDirt Admin can see how invaluable your contribution is and put things in place to convince you to continue to do the job that most suits you within the league. All the best Stumpy and I hope to see you starting my next race in the league
  9. After loads of practice I was hopeful of a good score but the heats were hard work, thanks to two desperate yellows who wanted to hit the front as soon as possible. It slowed us both down allowing the field to catch and we then went backwards. We should have worked together and maintained a pace keeping ahead of the field, rather than pushing past each other every bend. My heat results were poor because of it and failed to qualify for the final, third time in four meetings! So some of it must be my driving! One of those yellows dumped me out in the early laps of the B Final, so 8th and well behind I had no hope, but clawed my way back and in the last few laps, courtesy of Wardy I was able to take 2nd place, so in my 3 B Finals I have had two 2nds and a 1st. I spoke to DanSkin on Saturday and said that having had a 3rd in the Grand National at Kings Lynn, followed by a 2nd at Birmingham last week, wouldn't it be great if I won at BV? Having had a poor meeting so far I never thought it could be possible, but when the aforementioned yellows were drawn in the other GN I lived in hope. BeesfanDanny and PaulE had a better chance of winning, and when the race started PaulE pushed past first bend - I thought here we go again! This time I followed, backing off every time Paul got sideways but staying close enough to capitalise on an error. Thanks to KBarker, the field behind me were slowed dramatically giving me time to assess what to do. Danny was ahead and PaulE had pulled away, so 3rd it would be! However I actually got a last lap correct for once and the front two went in together collecting Mike who had spun making a clear pathway to take the lead. I lead for a quarter of the lap, probably the most important quarter and took a win I never really thought was possible - That's why I was so chuffed to have won! Thanks for the meeting Toff and congrats on your GN win too, Well Done Josh for the A Final and 80pts Danny, that's brilliant! Hope you don't ask for anymore setups now you have a winning one!

  11. Taken from the UKDIRT F2 RULES : Grades Grades will be split roughly as follows (not including World and National Points Champions): 3 Superstar 7 Red/Star 10 Blue 14 Yellow Remaining drivers graded white. Grading periods in 2015 will run monthly. Each regrading will take place between the last meeting of one month, and the first meeting of the next. Each grading period members may be upgraded a maximum of 3 grades, but downgraded only 1 grade at a time. To be eligible for downgrading a member must compete in at least half of the meetings in a grading period. Graders discretion will be used in certain cases. British and European Champions are held at a minimum of Red/Star grade for the period that they hold the title. World and National Points Champions are held at Superstar grade for the period that they hold the title, and then a minimum of Red/Star grade for a further 12 months following the loss of the title. Basically it will depend on how many in each grade, points accrued and possibly your ability. ie Did you have one good meeting and three bad ones or were all four good meetings. Wait and see when the Admin team post the grade changes up, which should be around Easter Sunday, as next Monday's meeting on the 30th is still classed as March I believe. If you don't go up this month, have another go next month and so on
  12. If it was found to be the driver Spike, then you would be welcome to my G27, but after being offered help with setting it up, I have found that there is an issue which needs resolving. Therefore I'll keep it for a little while longer! As for the meeting, well like Spike, it wasn't a good one, as I seemed to easily get spun and create chaos for the chasing pack, for which I apologies! Did score 2 points in the GN, so it wasn't altogether "Pointless". I think some yellows will be going up a grade or two, so hopefully less at the front allows me more freedom and with a properly setup wheel, I should hope to enjoy it once again! Well Done to all winners
  13. 40 mins practice and no matter what I tried, I couldn't do more than 3 laps without going wrong. Slowest car by far, so I would just become a chicane. Rather than risk messing it up for people I am cancelling my booking. Apologies for the late cancellation, but I did hope to find the miracle setup that could at least last me 16 laps!
  14. Having to rely on my previous setups, I was devastated to find my final winning setup just caused me to spin out, so Sunday was frustrating! I gave up and came back to it at 5:30pm on race night to find 18 drivers in the server! However I just found a setup that I could keep from spinning but was several tenths slower than the rest, then the servers went down. Just went with what I had in the W&Y's and it was going well until 94 took me right to the fence with a few laps to go. Scored some points and it gave me a bit of confidence that the meeting wouldn't be as bad as I thought on Sunday! As each race was called I tinkered with the setup, but for the first heat it wasn't tinkered with in the right way and I was awful! Second heat, tinkered the opposite way and I lead the race!!! Was away and clear but then a fast moving car came into sight and I knew I wouldn't make it to the finish in first. Third was a great result even so and I was so pleased! Scraping through to the final was a bonus, but knew I was there to make up the numbers. It didn't go well but the further tinkering I did helped with the handling and although I was back in 20th the car felt good. Made a further adjustment for the Grand National and was really pleased with the pre race practice. Go was called and I fell to the back of 7 yellows, but on the first bend I passed all 6 yellows!! Couldn't get into the next bend quick enough and Ash connected with my nerf and flicked me into the air. I was now 18th and last. Car handled well and I put some of my best laps of the night in and slowly caught other drivers. A few laps to go and I had progressed to 10th, but as earlier in the race I had just passed a squabbling Tjsalli and Jake, and on following bend I went deep this time and on the exit of the bend Jake hit my nerf with a similar result as before, me hitting the Armco hard which broke my front wheel, now in 13th. Disappointed but that's racing. Overall pleased with the racing as so many yellows made it a challenge. Congrats to BigDave and all the winners, and well done to the F2 Admin Team and Stumpy for getting the meeting on and done in a good time. Onto Barford, the next challenge!!!

  16. I must concur with the above - A very well run meeting considering the number of cars, new drivers, 14 heats etc - Well Done guys The drivers had a part to play in it all too, as considering the variety of drivers there I didn't see hardly any "Stupid Driving" at all and all (bar one) seemed to be there to race and enjoy it. From my point of view, I found it difficult to adjust to the new physics and the first two heats were all about staying out of the way - last and almost last was the result!! But from my third heat onwards I changed to an old setup and adjusted it in comparison with the new setup I had. It was an improvement, but I had to go in tight on the corners and make sure I was straight before booting out of the bends - I just cant get the hang of drifting around the corner! Fourth heat and I felt confident and the race went well. I moved over for faster cars, no point in fighting them and I was chuffed to get 6th. Heat five was going well also until I was hit and spun dropping me down the order. Disappointed but it was racing. Shocked I made the Semi and really gave it a go feeling really on it (on my level anyway!) and enjoyed the race from start to finish. Moved over for quicker cars and although this lost me places, and a chance of being in the Final, it was better than being put out of the race altogether. At least this way I stood a chance if others fell by the wayside. I also moved over for lapping cars, so I actually spent more time on the outside than the racing line Finally finished 14th with 12th and 13th not too far in front and only lapped by first 3, so yay! Good to see a variety of drivers and if numbers continue it will make for an interesting season.
  17. Nearly got top 10 in the 240!! Still can't get used to this "taking out" lark, but all in all enjoyed the NZ racing I have done this winter. Got up as high as 4th in two races tonight, so well chuffed lol Sad to end it with a blown engine, it was fun to try and avoid the "Crazy Gang" but they were just too good for me in the end Well Done Jack on your 240 Win, Kane on your National Points Win and Grasser for running it so well every week
  18. Drivers Name: Stuart Kelly #339 Your Number: 641 Your Name/Nickname: Mav Current league/grade: UKDirt - Blue
  19. Finally, Maverick is the last qualifier due to Ricky James' ban and so far has improved with every race when he is allowed 4 wheels on the floor. Amazing to find I have qualified! So lets give it a go then Mav 3p Please.
  20. If any team is one short and desperate then I can make an appearance (need setups though!) Just post up if you need me!
  21. Thanks for letting me drop in after unbooking - appreciate it Enjoyed the racing despite no practice but grateful for the setup advice given - Thanks. My chuckle of the night was in my second heat CB was insistent that he was going to start behind me which I only worked out when he refused to pass me, so I knew he was going to get me early on, yet being rubbish at starting he practically had to stop wait and then charge at me only for him to spin and me to carry on! However CB did get me a good un a few laps later In the final I was disconnected (Strong winds always seem to affect my connection - Strange!) which was unfortunate as I was almost in the top ten Hope to race NZ again in the coming weeks.
  22. Whilst waiting for the new year to come in, I've completed a possible shale skin for 2015 Season (Sticking with 2014 Tarmac car).
