Weekends I find are the best oppurtunity to practise on the Sim-stox server. UKDirt drivers only seem to practise about 2 hours before the meeting. Whereas on Sim-stox its not uncommon to find people in on Saturday afternoons and evenings and from as early as 4pm on the Sunday afternoon.

Happy Birthday mate, have good one!

Now we get quite a few complaints that we don’t feature enough affordable cars on the show, so we’re kicking off tonight with the cheapest Ferrari of them all. In the olden days I always got the impression that TVR built a car, put it on sale, and then found out how it handled. Usually when one of their customers wrote to the factory complaining about how dead he was. Supercars are supposed to run over Arthur Scargill and then run over him again for good measure. They are designed to melt ice caps, kill the poor, poison the water table, destroy the ozone layer, decimate indigenous wildlife, recapture the Falkland Islands and turn the entire third world into a huge uninhabitable desert.

Good to hear, certainly a very true comment in my opinion and most others who have given rFactor a fair chance, which you certainly by now have done. Just a question, have you got a wheel yet? You'll never look back to heat once you do.. it changes the game totally and is about 100 times more enoyable (for me at least).

I have the spotter turned on for 'always except for race' or something like that, so I know what I'm lapping in practise but so it doesn't distract me in races.

Mav, I can't emphasise the difference a wheel makes, I started with Keys, was useless, tried a pad for about 7 weeks, mostly useless, then bough a wheel off ebay (£20 inc p&p) and was even worse... for about 2 weeks then I won the meeting final and started to get to grips with it, ever since that meeting I steadliy progressed every meeting where I am now, still learning new things every week, but I a lot better, more consistent and faster than I was with keys or a pad. A wheel does take some time to get used to but stick with it and you definately get better. People shrugging off contact at higher speeds than people on pads and keys is to do with the wheel lock. If you use keys I'd guess about 9 - 15 degrees wheel lock? Pad little more perhaps, wheel is full 39.5 degrees so you can steer into your spin and ease off the gas with the pedal until it straightens back up again, it makes a HUGE difference. You CAN play rFactor with keys or pad don't get me wrong but if you want to expereince the game at its best, then you need a wheel with FFB if possible, pedals and to be racing online where the game really comes alive. You dont need a computer capable of powering NASA space station which is a common perception, might certainly isn't great, its 4 years old and every week it seems to get slower. Admittedly I upgraded the graphics card and ram so I could enjoy the fantastic graphics rFactor has to offer but aslong as the game doesn't stutter/freeze etc you have no disadvantage over the next guy with a ££££ computer. There are plenty of drivers using average machines and competing at the highest level.

Nothing wrong with the league or the people who run it here, I'd be racing almost certainly if I didn't have to work passed midnight most nights. Kings Lynn is a very difficult track, I can't get consistent there at least which is why I suspect some of the lower graders didn't race. See you in September when I'll hopefully be back and more determined than ever to get results and make up for what i missed

Nice find Rikard, what makes me laugh is all the posts on youtube calling the guy a geek, so does that make them? They've obviously played the game and couldn'r so it, then searched youtube for it to be frustrated than someobdy can do it lol Isn't jealousy great. Honestly if your ever after a good laugh, more often than not, the comments are funnier than the videos.

Kruiz 136 replied to Tricky88's topic in Non-League / Off Topic
I'm going to have to decline, no time at the moment, perhaps again later in the year. Thanks for running it though -

SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW - KNOCKHILL - 7:30PM
Kruiz 136 replied to Johno3's topic in F1 (rFactor)
Great write up Johno I can definately be ruled out for this one though, I'm working until late August at least. 1st: 298 2nd: 259 3rd: 137 -
Happy Birthday m8

S/S are in .7s actually! Well I got a few anyway. But if Hutch is banned and I've just been told I'm working until midnight tonight so thats me out too. In fact theres a good chance it will stay this way until August/Spetember so I'm not going to be able to race for a good while on ukdirt now. I'll have to go with Dan for the win, or Reds manage to get through the pack, then MoR.

Nope no joy I'm afraid Anyone got any more ideas please? Hopefully its not the sound card that bust, I've just had to pay out for a new wheel after that broke this week.
-
Ahh nice idea, will try that after trying these drivers if it doesn't work. Just to try and explain what it sounds like.. From what I (don't) understand sound cards have channels in them? Some 4 or 6 etc I assume this is to give a 'layered' affect to the sound and deliver better quality? Before the problem everything had a nice textured sound to it but it seems like its all being pushed into one channel, and base turns down when treble plays loudly and then voices take over treble when theres singing, really depends on the song though.

I searched for what my sound device is called on google and downloaded & installed the first drivers that looked likely to be what I was after, during installation it said I already had those drivers instaled and do I want to over-write, so clicked yes and rebooted PC after it finished but its still the same. I have a 'sb audigy 2 audio (cc80)' sound card according to my sound device manager and my PC does not seem to have intergrated sound. I'm trying another set of drivers ( I think lol) so will see what happens this time, any other ideas? Thanks Kruiz

Superb track Wrighty and all who were involved, I had some racing with Jimmy, Marky, Fourwinds and a few others the other night and it was very close and very fast. Also when MoR & DanSkin were in, we came out of turn 2 went 3 wide down the back straight and all made turn 3 & 4 without spinning or even very much contact, I've never seen that before, sensational racing. It seems to be the only track where you can go in very wide but get enough speed out the corner to out drag race he guy who was on the inside becasue its difficult to find the grip coming out the corner using the inside line. We should see a very good UK Open there this Thursday as laptimes were all very close from what I saw, I only hope I can get out of work to race. Got to go down as my favourite track so far, I could literally drive round it all day. Great work. Shale could well be even better..

Tracks takes a very long time to make, and all of the UKSOM are currently very busy with delevoment of new mods, new tracks which are coming along thick and fast and in very good quality (thank you for that), not to mention they do have personal lives although with the amount of work that has been done in the last 18 months I've no idea how. More tracks are planned so keep watching, Buxton and Northampton are 'planned' for later in the year and Coventry after that. Coventry is a huge task given the amount of scenery and stadiums etc so please be patient but hopefully we might have it before the end of the season.

Along with many other problems I experienced last night, sound was one of them. It seems to have gone a bit '2 - Dimensional' as if bass is clashing with treble rather than playing together, its hard for me to explain exactly what it sounds like but I know its not as good a quality as before. Its definately not the headphones I use bbecause I have to identical pairs and its the same in both. So could it be the sound card? Or drivers? Any help much appreciated.
