Thanks Eri, I have managed to get the model into max and got an overall render, but no skin appears? Unfortunately some of the images in that tutorial are missing and I can't seem to get the tga to show up in the render? Can anyone help please? Thanks Kruiz

Hi, I have recently aquired a copy of 3d max. I would like to have a go at rendering, im sure there must be a few about somewhere, so can anyone point me in the direction of a rendering guide please? (I checked the tutorials at the top of the forum, but there is nothing there? ) Thanks Kruiz

Hi LSF Thats the headnet, i believe (though not 100%) that it stops the drivers head/neck jolting too far when they hit the fence (you may notice that its on the fence side of the car). I've looked at my template and it doesn't look like it's mapped onto the template......... check your tga and see if it has anything red on it? Otherwise, its probably a colour/texture which is packed into the car itself (much like the dials on the dash are, amongst others) which obviously cannot be changed though. I wouldn't worry thought, it doesn't spoil the car at all, nice work Yeah, that is the purpose of it, every F2 in rwal life has one and most are red, so it adds to the realism.

Hi Marty, The skin looks good m8, The only things I have noticed after comparison is that 'Bramley Brook' on the side panel needs a pink/white gradient. The number on the aerofoil is the same colour as the wing. The purple on the body i think should be slightly darker. Apart from m8, its a great first attempt at a R/L skin, well done Kruiz

I personally always find it difficult as to what to put on the bonnet, usually checks etc is the only thing i can come up with. As for improving it, maybe it could do with coach lines, it would help make it look less bare and always help to make a car look more life like. Also i think the roof would look better the same blue as the rest of the body rather than white. Hope that helps, Kruiz

I think that is the case from memory Kendo, but maybe its just called Gold roof race or something like ministox and 1300cc saloons etc. because there are no other nationalities in it although it does say World Champ on the sump guard?.

I don't think it is a real life car, not one I have ever seen anyway.

Photoshop If thats your first attempt, its better than my first attempt, but the side panel signs go off the templates in places.

I apolagise for the spelling mistake, i was doing it in the very early hours of the morning, I will correct asap. He asked for modern looking 'airbrush' style paint scheme and I have been recently experimenting with different colours and styles, obviously I got his wrong. The purple/ blue body and orange bonnet was taken from FWJ's tar car and signs from scratch.
