No offence guys but i think most of you would benefit from actually doing the F2 praccy prior to racing the F2 meeting rather than racing in a different mod at 6.15 with a finish of about 8.15 (ish). I think it takes a few races even for someone like Fozz, corny or mike to get the handling/braking points right switching from one mod to another so if some of you guys are going straight from one meeting to another with no time in between then i don't think it'll work. I've got no qualms about admitting that i really hope you guys get the mini-stox league up and running on a monday night in a private server and an 8.30pm start time sounds ideal to me !!!

Huge thanx for that guys. TBH, i always thought that ukdirt online gaming used up a massive amount of GB so i've generally avoided those ISP's with a max GB limit. BT's option 3 looks right for me so i'll wait till the ukdirt close season b4 swopping from virgin to BT as there'll probably be a couple of weeks swop over time! cheers again Hope jamesy, who had the original question, has found this thread as helpful as me

Looking at reviews for each of the ISP i think it seems to be a bit hit and miss for people-some users saying its the best thing since sliced bread and others saying "avoid this ISP at all costs". On a question of the ISP 's that have a GB monthly usage limit - such as BT -if i was online gaming for 4 hours on a friday night, 4 hours on a sunday and maybe 6 hours on a monday night plus using the PC each night for general internet browsing of approx an hour (not file sharing or other gaming) then roughly how much GB would i use (the point being, if i signed up to BT's 40GB usage limit service of upto 8mb then would i go over my monthly limit?)

There are setups in the game already as has been pointed out before. The Northampton setup is very quick and i've managed sub 12 seconds with it, so bearing in mind that the likes of Fozz, korizin, prydie etc are onlly in the 11.6's on a meeting then that should be quick enough for most to go fairly well. Please remember that lap times are something that come down substantially each year. Blackburn's lap times, as an example, have dropped about a quarter of a second since the F2 race last year with the leaders in the 9.8's in 2006 and only about 3 or 4 drivers sub 10.0's last year. My argument to what you have suggested is quite simple: Setup's are not the be all and end all of racing-i'm not the quickest red top driver but i'm knocking on the door of superstar lights mainly due to consistency-last year my fastest lap times with a higman were marginally quicker than this year in my bbatten but i changed chassis during the winter for one reason alone - i was more consistent with the bbatten. Practise is something to which i would suggest is crucial in all of the mods, not just F2's. Friday nights after legends, sunday and monday evenings before and after a meeting you'll see the same handful or drivers who are always there, but these probably represent the the majority of the top blues, reds and superstars-that's why they have these grades and battle for the titles. For me, personally i spend that time in practise playing with the setup, adjusting ONE thing at a time, then i'll see how it affects the car's handling-not every style of driving would suit every driver. Then i'll try a different racing line and different braking points with that adjustment-once again as an example Birmingham or blackburn's races are down to how close i can hug the bend and not drift 2 much then cut back in and power out of the corner.

Whatever you do DON'T go with virgin.net-NTL were fantastic when i was with them. I've just changed to them and i find my connection randomly just disconnects!! Allan268 works for an ISP on a help desk (i think) so might be a good person 2 ask. OT-Allan-why do they call it a HELP desk anyway????

Happy birthday Mc Allan

As an F2 admin member i for one wouldn't be happy about giving up f2 jolt praccy on a sunday evening between 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm. Many reason's for this, but the main one being that we have just bought in a new rule in an effort to improve driving standards of graded starts between 8.30 and 9.30 pm. Quite why you would require both jolts anyway is a touch bizarre. You seem to have approx 15 drivers, all of whom won't race every week anyway so i think you'd do well to get 10, and as it would clash with BWS then double figures would probably be difficult to acheive. My suggestion to yourselves would be to apply to MC (so he can raise it for the other main admin members to discuss) for JOLT time for either an out of season mod or a time when perhaps JOLT is normally quiet (saturday or sunday mornings or afternoons?) IMO, sunday evenings are quite a busy time for JOLT. Last week for instance, there were 14 cars + in jolt 2 for the F2 doing graded starts and i think f1's had a few going round to. Kendo PS-hope you've thought about disciplinary procedures asi think your going to need it! PPS-hope you've thought about things like admin, RM'ing, skin packs, download locations, booking in-have u asked permission from kev149 to put another section on his forum for a mini's league. Not a critisism, just hope whoever is sorting this out has thought these things through.

Maybe a touch negative on my part but, doesn't sound like my PC would be up to scratch as u say Rikard, however the problem i have is that my computer is fine for what i use it for, which is general internet porn viewing and ukdirting. As someone whom has just mortgaged myself up the neck by buying a house, and only generally having the time to race one meet per week or occasionally 2 at a push, i'm not convinced i would be willing/able to part with £400 + for a better PC when my one is fine for current usage. I'd like to know if r-factor is being discussed by main admin or are we all waiting for it 2 be released then see what will happen to ukdirt etc. One other point, whether we like it or not, as many of you guys seem to be up for the change-what would happen if r-factor BriSCA F1's/hot rods are released as a mod and have meetings on a monday night (as an example), would ukdirt F2's attendances dwindle as people would race them instead? I just think that if r-factor is suggested that it COULD be released end of this year/early next year then what action plans or talks are happening for ukdirt?
-
I havent got rfactor but obviously look at the videos posted by the team with great interest. A few questions that i think need to be raised, which i appreciate are very early but i'm sure many would like to know the answers to them. I have a duff pc which cost me about £200 3 years ago. Its graphics card was bog standard, and so are most of the other things on it 3 years ago meaning thati i have to run the ukdirt mods with everything turned to its crappest settings (suits me fine as i don't really give 2 stuffs about the ice cream van queue on turn 3 at cov) First and foremost will i and i'm sure many others who have a below average PC, require a new one? I use a pad, and i have no intentions of going out and buying a wheel with pedals-would this suffice or am i going to fly about all over the place when i put the power down out of the turns? Any plans on F2's? Lastly, and most importantly, are there any plans currently for ukdirt to adopt r-factor instead of nascar heat? Will r-factor begin it's own league of brisca racing, in which case will this devalue ukdirt as many people may "change" to race in that league? If that happens, will ukdirt continue?

Have a top day mate

Sad to see you go Spike. Think a big thanx is in order from alot of F2 regulars over the passed couple of years when you and Mike took things onwards. The fastest RM'er in UKDIRT. LET ROLL! Hope to still see u bleary eyed around the tracks mate.

1st road car was a crappy G reg rusty Vauxhall Astra following my pass in 1998 aged 22. It only had 4 gears so was a touch noisy at 75 mph. Don't let Budge respond to this thread-square wheels and Fred Flintstone springs to mind!

Good to see the Tumshies doing so well!!
-
I seem to be missing something here. Do you mean you need to pay £20 for the Mirc chat, in which case that is incorrect or do you mean that you need to pay £20 to race in UKDIRT? If its the latter then you need to read the rules a touch more thoroughly than what you have (or haven't) already on the ukdirt website. The £20 is paid to ukdirt as we race using a JOLT server which is paid for by all of the members. We rent 2 JOLT servers, which from memory of a thread last year cost approx £1,500 each (i'm sure someone will correct me if this is not the case)

Choice Of Beer / Cider / Wine...?
kendo912 replied to Badura_Racing258's topic in Non-League / Off Topic
Coca-cola or sometimes pepsi, although good to see the Coventry back straight old cogger barman doing J20 these days. Normally drive to the meets so bit buggered on this one! -
I'll be there somewhere around the starter with Budge, spike and stav. Moodie for the fence 1st bend by Timmy!

Yes, you only get the novice cars for most of the mods (from memory the rodders have got the individual ars in the game already), Try using the search option on this forum to see if someone has done a drivers text for the mod you want to play in. Here's the link for the F2's which was done by psycho http://forum.kev149.com/index.php?showtopic=9691&hl=text
-
Maybe if you would asked politely and perhaps not used chav, text talk then some people may have been able to understand exactly what you requested NOT what you demanded. Perhaps the original request could have been " Would any skin painter be able to duplicate the attached skins for me please as i would very much like to get into ukdirt"- rather than "i WANT blah blah blah". Also this is taken from the UKDIRT website rules section "Designs closely based on real life F1 or F2 cars are not allowed, unless raced by the driver in question (or mechanic thereof). "

For work, i order from this place. http://www.bigink.co.uk No idea what they are like for most things but the epson capatables seem 2 be relatively cheap.
