  1. sorry Aza the short answer is 'no' - there are gridsetters and the like available but they only work with a specific number of cars in the mod folder so you'd have to remove about 80% of the real cars. I did actually put in a request ticket a year ago when they were compiling the rfactor2 'wish list' but i haven't seen if that has come through (although it's obviously still a beta at the mo).
  2. If you're into illustrations and cutaways m'boy i can recommend this thread on Autosport - i've linked to the last page because it's several years in the making but there's lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of primo penwork on there
  3. Sorry Matty, did you have this forum and the Stoxnet forum open in two tabs and post this in the wrong one? I'd respectfully suggest that, at the moment, UK Dirt drivers preparing their skins for this season should refer to the rules on the UK Dirt website...... ....soz like, or are you liable for the repaint costs?
  4. hi Stu, If you're using chase cam (the old Heat-type camera view) use keys 1-9 on the number pad on your keyboard to rotate around the car, zoom in and out, lift or drop etc (press 5 to re-centre). Different camera views are selected with insert, end, page up, page down and home keys - once you're on a favourite you can set the game to default to that one in settings>visual (i think it is, visual or video or summat to do wi't picture).
  5. Hiya Chevy, Welcome back By 'timing out' do you mean the download won't start or the download is starting and then hanging and cancelling itself? if it's not starting i wonder whether it's because you're trying to download an exe file and your anti-virus is protecting your pc from what it thinks is a malicious file? anyway, i tried a couple of the links on rfactor.net: this was the fastest rate exe file download i found click here and click 'show more download options' for link to a zip file rfactor on a UK server hope these work for you - don't forget once you have the download to set yourself as administrator (or Disable User Account Control when it comes to installing the game. Good luck wrighty
  6. you and me both m8 looks good though
  7. Spike, Although i haven't been involved recently in the modding side so much as previously, i know that rFactor2 was using GMT3 instead of GMT2 and the rfactor2 website made great play of the amount of extra work that could be done with textures and effects and all that stuff......which is fine unless you're the one who has to do all of the changes lol. In short, i'm not working on huge conversions for rfactor2 for the F2s and i'm not sure the other lads in UKSOM are either on the other mods.
  8. Hi Ben, I saw an almost identical problem on a pc running windows 7 last week and the problem was cured by disabling the UAC (user access controls) - if you're logged in to your pc as administrator then go to control panel and set the UAC to its lowest level (this should basically disable it). The problem is because rFactor automatically modifies some of the files in the game at each stage (when you choose a track to test on, your player file is edited by the game to update latest mod, latest car, latest track etc etc) - the operating system sees this as a security issue and blocks the program from editing the files, hence the game crashes. Try disabling the UAC and then reboot and try the game - if the files are all installed ok for the game (hint - if you can see them in the track select and mod select lists they probably are) then it should be ok with UAC off. good luck, please let us know for future reference.....wrighty
  9. the KISS Motorsport 'Jay' was Jay Watkiss, also the maker of the original Hotrods (Peugeot 206) mod.
  10. Hi Ricky, I suspect you've downloaded the clockwise version which was only an add-on to the normal anti-clockwise version and it's looking for anti-clock mas file that isnt there (pic of the Hednesford folder with all enclosed files and folders attached) then do the following... 1: Go to your rFactor/gamedata/locations folder and remove the Hednesford folder. 2: go to your rFactor\UserData\LOG\HAT and delete any HAT files in there for Hednesford 3: click this link for Hednesford anti-clock exe 4: install following the instructions in the exe. have fun wrighty
  11. hi, don't ask or expect appreciation of the time you put into it, and don't let others decide whether you should do the work or not. If you're enjoying it then carry on....if you aren't then stop (if only for a while until you miss it).....it's your time, not theirs
  12. Hi, Now that you have rFactor reinstalled and activated, do a search on your pc for the Trymedia folder - this contains the licence file - back that up away from your pc (email or whatever) and the next time you need to reinstall rfactor you can just copy your Trymedia folder back in to that location after installation, saves the hassle of using up reactivations
  13. Hi Stu, Firstly, welcome to the site . For installation, i havent tried the pre-activated SE disc but i'd suggest you're as well to just download the full thing from rfactor.net and install that (make sure you get the full one, not the 'lite' as that had sound files and stuff removed that you'll end up needing to get from elsewhere anyway but bear in mind that the full version 1.255 is 1gb so it's worth setting it away at a non-peak time depending on who your ISP is, what your speeds are etc etc). Install it (if you're on vista make sure you install it with full admin level rights or turn UAC off - see this post from Hutch on disabling UAC) and then test it to make sure everything's working ok, set your career driver up and buy a car and do a few laps and if that all goes ok (it's worth doing this without setting a controller up....no sense buying a wheel and hitting another problem with the game eh lol) then use the buy feature in the first screen when u start rfactor to buy the game 'proper'. Your PC spec seems more than able to run the game (i run it on much less) but your best way to check this is basically enter the open online servers for some practice and go from there. Controller........well as you say Simstox operated a wheel-only-with-cockpit-view policy so if you're looking to race there in the longer term then it's worth getting a wheel if you have the cash. G27s are the dogs and you do get what you pay for (if you want to really spend then start looking at specialised pedal boxes with load cells and watch your pennies go flying out of your account haha) but again you can run with much less (Logitech DFP wheels can be found on ebay for £40 on a good day) and if you're not interested in using a wheel then some (i'm whispering here) still use pads but they're all tossers aren't they TomD (long-time padder and current UK Dirt F2 world champ hahaha).....if you're going to use a pad just get used to using both thumbsticks for throttle brake and steering and accept that them on the wheels have more control than you Where's best? Oh my ar5e is hurting from sitting on this fence so really UK Dirt and Simstox both have their benefits and their flaws so for the grand total of £22 i'd say join both UKSOM aren't a league, they *(well 'we') are a mod group so while there's a server open occasionally and hosted evenings from time to time there's no formal 'join' thing although it's worth joining the forum if you need specific info regarding UKSOM mods (and don't mind having the pi55 taken out of you on the way ) Have fun wrighty
  14. Hi Ben, Once your membership to the UK Dirt site is confirmed and you can log in, go to the member options section in the top bar and then 'Number Registration' - once there you simply add your preferred number and select the formula then click 'register for league'. I would recommend you check the driver lists first and try to use the same number for the formulas you register for, as your racing number is needed in your rFactor login and its just easier to have the same number on one profile for all formulas good luck
  15. Happy Birthday Bathy.....nice to see that half of London has turned out to celebrate with you, you must be v proud
  16. i'm a struggling novice Pete (or at least a perennial yellow top) who uses the UKSOM teamspeak server occasionally when i race......it never did me any bloody favours at all, unless being the subject of scorn and ridicule counts as 'favours'* lol On the subject of Teamspeak, i would personally prefer if there was a UK Dirt teamspeak room that could be used for meetings but, until all have A: access to it with a mic and 2: a pc that's happy to run rFactor and things like teamspeak in the background then there'll always be an accusation of 'haves and have-nots' to a certain extent, but on reflection it'd be a lot easier for the occasional fubars people have with installs and skinpacks and stuff that there was a league room for members and meeting attendees. As for generally not racing? from my point of view by the time it gets to the start of the season in March i'm sick of the bloody sight of mods and i'm ready for my 'winter break' haha.....i do the first couple of meetings and by the time i've been swiped into the fence a few times (which i can live with) or had my nose chopped off and spun out by someone i've given racing room to (which i can't bloody live with) i lose interest pretty quickly.....in the end if you're not on the pace it does get a bit wearing fairly quickly so, from my point of view, a bit more practice would be warranted and welcome. Having said all that, the sense of community that used to exist here i think has waned slightly, partly because of the split between UK Dirt and Simstox (and Pete, don't be lecturing people on their attitude coz yours to LeeK and Johno hasnt been much better really) and partly, i think, because there's so much more available for people online now, from console gaming to facebook (or to give it the correct name 'bloody facebook', along with bloody farmville and bloody cityville etc etc) and all inbetween......its fine to ask people who are members of the league why they dont race, but it might be better to ask the dozens and dozens who used to be members two and three years ago why they don't race any more and i'd wager that 'havent got the time' is among the top 3 answers......it might even be (i'll just whisper this) that stockcar racing as a sport isn't as popular as it was, especially when its so expensive to get to meets now......people arent gonna spend so much time racing online when they're forgetting the sport exists...... hey ho, maybe it's a temporary thing and it'll get better, but the simstox+ukdirt saloons initiative looked like a great idea and a step forward to me and it died on its ar5e. There seems to be a background resentment somewhere, whether it be 'pad fear' or snootiness ('we're a sim, you're a banger/heat league' etc) or what, but as a contributor of sorts to both leagues it boils my pi55.....in the end, i spend a load of time making stuff that i never race coz i'm always getting my bloody ear bent about 'them lot' in whichever league.....grow up ffs. *it is good natured, but tbh it's bloody off-putting at times lol
  17. it was work in progress so i'll happily chase it up. We would like to get a few skins together for a decent update if possible.....there was a few in progress so hopefully we'll have something soon
  18. Sorry Dave but as one of the formula admins who were at the meeting and saw the incidents first hand you need to deal with the situations.....feuds is one thing, but foolish/dangerous/selfish rejoins are quite another....and here's why, i haven't raced since Brum because i did a stupid rejoin that made me and the league look a bit amateurish....i regretted it instantly, left the meeting and expected a disciplinary message with the attendant badboy points and/or a warning and/or a ban, but nothing came. This was about 15 mins after we'd seen someone do multiple follow-ins on another driver just to 'ruin his race like he'd ruined mine' (or similar, you get the idea i'm sure)....again, nothing was forthcoming that i'm aware of from this. Of the two mine is probably worse because those who got mugged by my bad rejoin (over the banking if u recall) were purely innocent parties. to put it another way, i think it was Groucho Marx who said 'i'd never join a club that would have ME as a member!' If you want drivers to behave, let them know when someone has misbehaved, otherwise they just think anything goes! cyas monday
  19. photoshopped (very well too i might add) Bets wrighty spat his tea out before sussing lol lmao you read me like a book.......it took seeing the reflections in the spinner deck to spot it lol Does look good though Pedz and i'm warming to the idea of the EXTRA1-type paintable wheels eventually, rather than having to bung every colour for every rim into the game files, which is a right chew on and is never gonna suit everyone (i refer, for instance to the lime green rims on the old 700 rce....thats a skin that people wanted to paint that i didn't want to make wheels for.....you get the idea)
  20. photoshopped (very well too i might add)
