you sound like kendo at the moment aub lol great racing i thought....I am loving it much more now after the tweaks from a few weeks ago...also getting used to getting hit a bit more and learning to hold it better. had some fantastic racing with big al and pusher all night..great stuff lads. definately a knack to hitting some one wide successfully lol...i used the gn to try a few different hit teckniques on big al ( sorry mate lol but its the only way to learn) and lost control of my car a couple of times as I came in at an angle and caught his bumper all wrong. great experience gained tonight i felt. got to say wd to walker and speedtech tonight... i thought i was going too well from yellow, but you two came through me most races walker.... and every race techy. wd also to tom d on the final win thanks for running it trav..well smooth all night. and your right pusher...that got well dark on 1 bend lol in the final and gn...did my lap times by about .2 but fantastic to race under the lights.

Hi guys, I am glad i put this post up as tbh I was looking to pack it in if it didnt improve tonight. Huge thanks to grasser for the tips they made a MASSIVE change to the racing tonight and I loved every minute of it. this is the first meeting i have actually felt like i could get stuck in a bit, like how stock cars should be...the racing experience was amazing all night just for a few changes. It was so good, at one point i hit the barrier from a tomd fencing and didnt spin. and thats the first and last time i will say that lol I wonder whether this thread should be made sticky for future noobs to the game? as it is amazing how these 'basic adjustments' make the world of difference to the whole thing. Thanks again everyone that has input on this thread, but especially grasser

thanks for letting me know hooty as I hadnt heard that before....i kinda thought that it could be changed but no one wanted to. at least I know now and have to take the racing as it comes.
-
ok done some practice with the changes. got to say thanks to grasser as those changes have 'appeared' lol to make the back end a lot better...but I need some online racing to see if it has made enough of a change. The steering alone feels better so far offline..and gives me the opportunity to go into a bend straighter if i have someone on my backside, but also to throw it in if on a free lap. I kind of get the impression that is how i am going to have to race in future. I still wish that the contact could be toughened up a bit on the back wheel though...not as ridiculous as heat but just enough to give a chance to ride the hit a bit better without spinning quite as much. I am going into the ukdirt server to do some laps if anyone wants to smack me about a bit. thanks again grasser. p.s drum...you defo have a point about the hits as you did put me wide properly in the gn without spinning me. it is just annoying if you get hit wrong tho. thats why i wish the contact could be slightly improved ...to make life a bit easier for the newbies. I personally think we would get a much bigger turnout if this were the case. fantastic game though.

good stuff grasser thank you for the advice and I will try these changes out tomorrow night.....it sounds like there are a few reasons then why the car is back endy....and good to know that it looks like my settings are wrong. I am glad there are options because i was beginning to think that there werent. I do really want to get on with this mod as I am really enjoying it bar these few problems at the moment. I also didnt know that I could change the units to imperial lol thanks again and I will report back after testing

here is a screenshot of my wheel settings and also my set up for belle vue that i was using - does anyone recommend any changes that would stop my back end coming out so much? also spike and big al do you have your wheel settings any different?
-
thanks for the advice drum and grasser. I will persevere a bit more then with it. does lowering the rear springs stop the back end coming out then? I have lowered them previously but it didnt seem to make much difference? I have also adjusted the brakes down from 50% upto 100% but this does not seem to make much difference either? any other suggestions on garage adjustments to stop this? or is it just the way the game plays? Also does anyone else use the same wheel successfully and have the settings different from aub as perhaps his style does not suit mine? there was a thread earlier this year with wheel settings but the pics were all lost when the forum got hacked. I would be grateful if a few could post there wheel settings up so i can try a few out to see if it improves the playability for me please if you dont mind guys. Thanks, nez

i have a saitek r220 grasser...same as aub and he has given me his wheel settings

right lads, as per the topic header, i would like some help please. I thought I would start by saying that everyone thinks I am moaning in the meetings every week. my previous after meeting posts have not meant in a moaning way, they have been my observations of the handling of these cars from my view and have been meant in a constructive way to hopefully benefit any future adjustments to the mod to improve playability. Since then I have repeatedly been told that there is nothing wrong with the contact. my meeting tonight went the same way as every other meeting so far where I have been spun on the first few laps which ruins the whole night for me. I will be honest and say yes I did winge tonight as it is getting on my tats somewhat, but rather than be shot down for moaning I would like some help please in getting these to drive right before it gets so bad i decide to knock it on the head completely and go back to heat. a few told me in the meeting that my back end is out more than others which means i get hit on the back wheel a lot...I have watched a lot of replays now and my back end seems no different from anyone elses to me? I have also done a bucket load of laps and adjusted alsorts but the back end still pings out no matter what? what do i adjust to stop this? because i cant find anything to stop it. Sorry if I come across as moaning as that is not what I mean, I really want to be able to race these, but this is ruining it for me every week so far. sugestions please..not the usual moaning crap please Nez

no probs dean. same here really, 2 weeks on the bounce of getting spun out most races. also apologies to trav as on lap 1 of one of the races the usual jossle of the first bend ended up with me hitting him wrong and spinning him out which ended his race I did notice that no one wants to be front of the grade with the yellows - can see why. I still think the contact is not quite right even though Drum disagrees lol. I personally think that the bumper contact is good, its just anything on the side of the car seems to send me round every time. still enjoying the racing, but getting frustrating already. gn was a good race...last bend a great hit from dode into dean (i think) which potted him into me (and annoyingly spun me lol), but was a great move. definately loving the floodlights..makes it seem more realistic as we are racing in the evening. Thanks again for the meeting and roll on the shale next week

think you got a nibble kendo lol
-
and he jumped the gun big time in the gn...booo smithy lol
-
Lee, it is me as well...not just you. I watched the replays after the meet to see what had happened as I knew no one had smashed me hard, and I think a lot of the reason is that going into the bend the back end kicks out a lot and exposes the rear wheel to the car behind. this seems to be the nature of the game though as the cars have been designed to go in that way rather than hugging the bend; think trav touched on this early on in testing beta 1? if that car is going for a tap wide then they catch your back wheel rather than the bumper which results in a spin. contact on the back bumper is fine i find, but it is a bit annoying when a minor tap to the wheel sends you right round. from what i have seen of watching real life f2's the shale cars on rfactor seem spot on as they do spin easy on the shale in real life and the back end does chuck out into the bend. The tar cars perhaps need tweaking in my opinion to either stiffen the back end up or to make the rear wheel contact a bit more forgiving. No idea whether this can even be done though as i know nowt about game building. if it could be done i think this mod and all the leagues that run it would benefit massively from better racing enjoyment. Please dont take this as anything but constructive if you have been involved with the making of this game, as this f2 mod is fantastic.

cheers aub, well run meeting. loved the floodlight racing for the final and gn..great stuff. not a good night for me personally on the results side though but still enjoyed it. got spun on the first lap or so in 3 of my races which resulted in massive carnage being caused, so apologies if it ruined your race but there werent much i could do about it. is there no way the contact can be improved slightly for these? as there seems to be a real weak spot on the back wheel...what i mean is that a simple tap here will result in the car spinning out which ends up taking out the rest of the following pack, and could end up causing a few arguments. all of my races on pretty much the first bend i got hit by trav or al which spun me out..not blaming them as they certainly werent big hits ..just caught me on the back wheel. ? be interested to know whether this can be done, as there seems to be a similar thing going on from the f1's last week which ended up with them all arguing on here lol. Cheers, nez
