I question about the MS Sidewinder more than anything I guess, I have found that my left ankle aches like hell after about 2 hours of racing, becuase it holding my foot up for so long as it is only used for breaking. I think the pedal is too far up I often find myself wanting to rest my foot on the pedal a bit, is there anyway of lowering it? Or does nobody else left foot brake? Cheers Kruiz

Yeah, thats pretty much it, its a simple matter of weight balance and physics really. You have to weigh up the situation before going in with the bumper, sometimes meaning you have to be a bit patient, but all part of stock car racing. Since getting the wheel, I've not been able to get my dad off the game lol. I asked him what he thinks, and how it compares to real life, he said its amazingly close to the real thing, if anything the cars a bit too light, but he says becuase of that they are faster and more fun than the real thing. The only other thing the game doesn't have which makes it more difficult than the real thing, which both my dad and my uncle have brought up, is that you can't feel the car physically around you slide or the g-force as it slides in a corner which makes it difficult to weigh up when to counter balance the slide, but since thats impossible in a computer game, and a FFB wheel sort of makes up for that, its virtually spot on. Just wish we had a few more computers, becuase we would have 2 more ex-drivers racing on a sunday night lol.

From what I've found so far, the harder you hit, the harder it is to control the car afterwards but as the game is very difficult to drive as it is, there isn't really a need to hit anyone hard anyway like heat, most of my hits last night were taps, front bumper to back bumper and the car handled fine afterwards and I put them easily wide enough to get by, on tarmac you have to hit slightly harder, but I'm yet to really put a decent hit on anyone on the hard stuff yet so I'll see how that goes when somebody is unlucky wnough to get on the end of my front bumper lol.

rFactor is the way forward, since getting a wheel I have enjoyed it 10 times more. I was sort of nearly on pace last night and only spun a few times which was mostly due to my graphics freezing up which is the next step of development at my end. I have started getting more confidence with using the bumper and I succesfully used it on several occasions last night. I can't remember them all but I remember hitting a fair few drivers including MoR, Fourwinds and Danskin. Each time I managedd to keep control, which is a first. There is a way to do it, and once you have learned that, it is far more enjoyable. I also found that making the bonnet cam further to the nose so it sits just behind the air intake filter almost over the front axle helped me control slides a lot more, however a suffered from lag much more frequently but I will have to put up with that until I order the new graphics card & RAM. Well done Mr Beef, great drive in the Final & GN I can't wait for next week, I love this game, and can't get enoughof it atm, seriously anymore and I wouldn't be able to move through aches the morning after. Thanks Kruiz

I for one don't get on with Fareham shale, but after last night I discovered how fun shale can be with a wheel, so if the bumps could be taken out, that might vastly improve the racing there IMO.

I have a friend who is wanting to start ukdirt, but he can't access any servers. He gets 'waiting for reply' message. I have hosted servers before so I know its not a problem at my end, so I think its a firewall or something but I have no idea how to work Windows ME or Norton firewall. I know its a bit outdated, but it should be capable of running nascar heat surely? Thanks for any help, Kruiz

Great video again Splinter, very quickly made too EDIT: I was going to start another thread, but I may aswell say it here (sorry to hi-jack your thread slightly Splinter) Since acquiring a wheel my dad (and my mum ) who both have never really played a computer game before but are big F1 fans and both ex-drivers, both had a go using cockpit view, and both absolutely loved it. I couldn't get them off the computer all of Saturday lol. I showed them this video and they were astonished by how good most of the drivers were, as they couldn't help but spin every few laps or go very slowly lol, despite this they think its amazing, and that so many peolple have put so much time and effort into a game for nothing in return, for an amateur sport. If only we had 3 computers capable of running rfactor I'm sure we would have at least 2 more competitors on a Sunday night. I know of lots of people (at least 6 or 7) who have driven the game, but can't afford a new PC or upgrades in order to run it. Its a shame people can't as this would really increase the amount of people who attend meetings. I myself have been saving up since I first heard about it, which was about a year ago. Since then I have spent £150 on upgrades, a wheel and the game itself, and I'm now flat broke lol. I think this is rFactor's biggest downfall IMO. However I think perhaps Santa has a lot of PC's and compoments to deliver to stock car fans this Christmas. -
Thanks guys Problem seems to have gone if rfactor last night was anything to go by. I did find my old CD, hidden in the wrong case It seems AOL 9.0 VR is a lot more proccessor hungry as system.exe which is an uncloseable proccess apparently, can take up to 30% of the system at any time where as with the old AOL 9.0 only takes up to 10% i've noticed which appears to have solved it. Thanks , Kruiz

Its been OK for 6 - 7 months and all of sudden this has started? Another thing is... I had reinstalled AOL a few weeks ago, but I couldn/t find the original disc, so I went to Comet and they gave me a new one. The new was an updated version of what I had before I think, becuase now it says AOL 9.0 VR, whereas it used to be AOL 9.0. Could this be anything to do with it?

Hi all, I think this is a long shot tbh asking here, but here goes. For the last few days I have been expereincing a 'laggy' game in nascar heat when I'm racing online. So I did a bit of research and did the following: Last night I did a virus scan and ran a defrag. I started up the computer today and opened up the Windows Task Manager and clicked the processes tab. It said 99% idle which was good, I thought problem solved. I ran enditall, still 99% idle. I opened AOL and connected and this happened: Every 3 - 6 seconds it goes from this: [attachmentid=21123] To this: [attachmentid=21124] This would explain the freezing I get when racing online. Assumably my connection or the AOL software appears to be behind the problem, so has anybody any idea's? Thanks Kruiz

There are so many words I could use to describe england & Mclaren.... .... but I don't think the forum would let me use of any them Well done England Laughing stock of the world I'm sure...

Thats fair enough, I thought that might be it, I wouldn't want it changed if it means the gameplay suffers.

Just keeping the dust down... -
I think your right, and rfactor cars are a bit light imo. Just observations Im not critising anybody, I couldnt do it lol.
-
It could be due to a number of things really.... Cars being too fast or too light Tracks too small Drivers too good lol Or the clock is a bt dodgy Whatever, it doesn't really matter, just thought I would point it out as I've seen videos for F1 rFactor games precise to real life even fast lap times are the same, maybe this isn't possible with the nature of our sport (sliding, contact etc).
-
Yea these were posted before the latest patch, revised table below added KR3W as it seems popular and still just a rough average race lap time. Belle Vue: 13.8 Birmingham: 13.7 Ips Shale: 15.4 Ips Tarmac: 14.7 Sexberium: 13.9 KR3W 12.8 Just on a note on the realism factor, is it a concern that rFactor lap times are so much faster than real life fast laps? Real life fast lap times are: Belle Vue: 15.484 (Set by 515 Junior Wainman) Birmingham: 15.162 (Set by 391 Andrew Smith) I can't find anything for Ipswich F1's but you can see from that rFactor F1's seem to be 2 seconds quicker than the real thing?

Joining me for a crash at 8.30 Hutch? I'll be in for an hour or so, can have a quick tour round the tracks or something, should be a good laugh!? I will pop in for a bit if possible when i get back

Easily solved MoR, go to Sheffield instead! Kruiz-136 booking in please. I am going to Sheffield, hopefully I will be back in time, its about 1 hour 20 mins drive for us, but with the extra races & presentations going on for FWS etc. and it being such an unpredictable track with a lot of cars booked in, who knows how long it might take.

That would be brilliant! When will it be released. Tomorrow? What a great idea! Can we share transporters to save fuel?
