"Short Scunthorpe Raceway" - is this different to the standard track? No it'snot Al - I am not sure why I put a capital letter in there. I am not sure that Scunthorpe could get any smaller!! Cheers Johno

First things first, thanks very much to Spike for running the meeting, and to Kev for stewarding the races. I think it was disappointing to see such a low turnout this evening, but I felt the racing was superb tonight. Perhaps a couple of drivers that we will need to take a look at, but in the main, it definitely got the thumbs up. Things have really changed around for me this year. Last year, I was solid on shale and struggled like mad on tarmac, where as this year, I am solid on tarmac and very poor on Shale. It is proven by the fact I am near the front of the final grids for shale (on pole tonight0 and at the back for tarmac finals. I really thought that my poor shale form was going to continue tonight, especially after the heats, but from then on, things slotted into place, and I had some good races, with many drivers. Let's hope that the Short Scunthorpe raceway will see numbers pick up before the first major championship of the season: THE 2010 Roothost.co.uk UK OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP at Skegness. It is a two day event that should not be missed!! Cheers Johno

Hello Guys, First of all, thanks to Mike for running the meeting, and to Kev for stewarding the races. I was fortunate enough to be able to pinch the final off Leech on the last bend. Top marks to Leech for not running to the fence to try and ride it, and he tried to fight it fairly and cleanly, as it was not hard enough for him to reach the fence. It is going to be very interesting to see what people made of the meeting. Up front, it seemed fine, and there were some very good battles. However, when I was at the back in the GN, I noticed in my mirrors there were one or two drivers that were totally and utterly out of line. Well I can tell you now, this is not acceptable and those people will punished, admin or not admin. I have heard a couple of people mention driving standards over the last couple of weeks. I find it very interestin to hear this, as I think this season has been a very good one to date. Don't get me wrong, there has been some very dodgy races, in a couple of heated meetings, but to label the whole season a poor season for driving standards is a bit too much. I think we have to be realistic, and admit that at times, there will be bad races. But this is where we as Admin members need to step up and punish the people that ruin races accordingly, as we have so far this year. People have had bans this year, and drivers have had points, and dont forget, any points that a driver gets says on their licence for a period of 13 months. Anyway, as always, I would be more than happy to har what people thought of the meeting, good or bad. But as always, if your going to post something bad, try and add to it something constructive to help the league improve. But also think to yourself: This season has on the whole has not been a bad one - one bad night does not make it a bad season! Finally, next week we are back in action, with the new grades, on the SHALE OF BRADFORD! Cheers Johno

Hello Pusher, We think that you are perhaps missing a skinpack (thats the usual cause for the problem you have). I did nip back into chat to see if you were in there, but you didnt come in. When they go to race, it does close the server to stop people getting in. Cheers Johno

Birmingham........ Tomorrow sees Birmingham host the mighty UK Dirt F1's for a second time. Birmingham is the venue of the reacord breaking 40 car meeting. It is fair to say that the booking list is currently a little lower than 40, but with numbers rising at the last tarmac meeting, it is hoped that we can at least get near to the record breaking event. Mike will be your race manager with Kevin being your meeting steward. Bookings will be taken on the UK Dirt website until 6pm, with late bookings then taken on the forum. The last Birmingham meeting produced some fantastic racing, and looking further back, produced a fantastic semi final in 2009. Tomorrow could once again produce some superb racing! Cheers Johno

It seems you're doing yourself down a bit there Johno, just had a quick look on kev149.com and you got 4th place in the Sexbierum final, so add 16 points to the 4 you quoted! o yeah - I had forgot about Sexbierum - a small ray of light then lol Johno

Hello Mav, Please dont take it as a criticism because it wasn't meant that way at all. As I said, I was just unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know as wel as anyone that it takes time, and the only way drivers are going to get better is by racing, not just practicing. Yes, you need to do a certain amount of practice first, but it is easy when your out on your own, and there is no pressure - it is a total new kettle of fish getting into a race. Back in 2008, I strugged like crazy. I was yellow for the whole season, and was constantly spinning out all the time. Yet in practice, it was not a problem at all. Sure, I wasn't fast, but I could drive around the track. In a race, it was totally different, and it is only by keep turning up to meetings and racing in them that I learnt to control the car better. But I now see the other side of the fence too. It's jolly disappointing when you end up not finishing due to very little fault of your own, and sometimes you are so disappointed, you say things you dont mean. What we have to remember is that I do think things even themselves out over a season (unless your name is TomD and God sits on your shoulder every week ). I actually urge people like yourself Mav (and it appears Spike as he has a lose of confidence) to keep going and keep trying. The only way you wil 100% improveis by keep racing in the meetings, and dont be too down hearted if someone says something that sort ofputs you down, because in the cold light of day, when things have calmed down, everyoe knows that the lilkes of yourself is working hard to try and improve, and you dont mean to take them out. Cheers Johno

First of all, thanks very much to Mike for running the meeting, and to Kevin for stewarding the races. Can I also CONGRATULATE each and everyone of you for making the starts an awful lot better. I shouldnt have to praise you, as it is somehting that should be easy, but they were a lot better after last week so well done. (Dan might tell you I was too slow off themark in a couple of races!!) Anyway, well done to Mike on taking the meeting final and being the top scorer for the evening. Well done to Spike for a fine fifth place in the final. Personally, another meeting that started so well, promised so much, and failed to deliver. It is fair to say that I had no luck in the final or Grand National. Both times I came across Mav, and to be fair, there is nothing that he could have done on either ocassion. It was a case of me being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite the fact that this grading period I have climbed the National Points chart, it has been a very disappointing grading period for me. I think it is fair to say that everyone expected me to clean up, and whilst I have picked up a good amount of heat and Grand National wins, I have only scored 4 points in grand finals. that is 4 points from 5 grand finals. That really is not good enough, and meant that I will have missed out on my target of superstar. Least I will have the red paint back ont he car. Anyway, one more meeting at the current grades next week - and then it is all change again. We are not too far away from the first main title race of the season: The Roothost.co.uk UK Open Championship. It looks like a very exciting next grading period. Cheers Johno

Evening All, First of all, thanks very much to Kev for stewarding a meeting, which on accasions got a little heated. That said, the racing seemed to be very good, around a track that can be a little tricky, so well done to everyone. Onto the racing, and it was yellow grade driver Leech that took the meeting final, with red grade driver Mike rounding off a fantastic week for him by top scoring. Which race was it Al? If it was Heat 3 - I did not register until about a third of the way through the race for some reason - which could be why your result gives you tenth, but when you put me back into the results, you will be 11th. It said that I had finished 14th, but I had only completed 15 laps I think it was. Cheers Johno

Hello All, First of all, can I say it is superb to see the number increase slightly again. Good to see the likes of Travel, Tinman and MoR returning to the fold (hopefully not a one time event). Tonight sees us doing battle for more World Championship Qualifying Points. Tonight is Qualifying Round 8, which means we are past the half way mark, and the grids are starting to take shape a little more. The current top 10 are as follows: 315 Mike 204 112 Tom D 160 236 DanSkin 139 39 LeeK 117 3 Johno 108 531 Lee 107 8 Tosh 102 561 Murf 89 16 JK 86 391 Corny 84 What is perhaps more interesting is positions 36 - 45, as one decent meeting, and they can shoot up the chart, and virtually guarantee a qualification position. 164 Jarry 13 17 munis 9 291 Marten 9 599 Harold 6 515 Big Al 5 - - - - -- -- -- - - - 495 Lew 3 172 spikejnr 2 435 Mart 1 48 Tinman 1 11 chevy 1 STARTS The rolling speed is 20mph. We all know that now - it is the 3rd year of rolling at scuh speed. We have also warned drivers before about warming up tyres, which means thay drop from their grade. You must stay with your grade at all times and roll at a constant 20mph. However, we need to be a little realistic, and sometimes, for whatever reason, things dont quite go perfect. If this is the case, then you need to do whatever is required to maintain the gaps. If that means slowing down a little, then slow down a little. If it means speeding up a little, then speed up a little. If gaps are not kept, then punishments will be handed out (we have done this in the recent Winter Series). If people are seen to be rolling over the speed limit for no reason, then punishments will be handed out (we have already done this once this year). If people back off their grade to warm up brakes or tyres, then they will be punished. You dont need to ram the car in front, but you should be able to keep within 1 car length maximum. First of all, as always, thanks very much to Spike for running the meeting, and to Kev for stewarding the races. Congratulations to Mike on taking the meeting Final, and with that, the top points scorer for the meeting. Once again, it was a case of 2 heat wins and a Grand National win. There is no doubt that I am quick on tarmac, as quick as some of the drivers at the back, but I seem to drive poorly in Grand Finals. I thought at first it was because there were more cars and I dont settle into a rhythm as quickly, but it cant be true as I have won the all in Grand Nationals, so I really am stumped! O well, there is always tonight. Was talking to Corny last night, and as I have said previously, I was gutted to go down to blue. The aim for this year was to get in the shootout without needing a spell at blue, as last year I actually needed two spells to get in. So like I said to him, if I have to be at blue, I need to make sure that next grading period, I am at Superstar, and therefore that is the new aim. So I need to start scoring in Finals, as that is where all the points are at. I will apologise once again to Skeet. I was one of those blue tops that spun him out, in the final. Spike JNR was half on the racing line in the middle of turns 3 and 4, and after he was there for a second time, I thought he was staying there for the race. Went in too fast, expecting him being there, and spun Skeet out. Apologies for that Skeet. I am going to mention the starts before tonights meeting, but I will mention them briefly now. The rolling speed is 20mph. If people back of their grade to warm up brakes or tyres, then they will be punished. You dont need to ram the car in front, but you should be able to keep within 1 car length maximum. Anyway, when we got onto the racing, it seemed quite good. Some good healthy battles, and apart from the Grand National, the starts did not seem too bad at all. Roll on tonight! Cheers Johno

Thanks very much for running the meeting Spike, and well done to LeeK on taking the final and Woody for top scoring. Heats, well they were non exsistent. Cons, had a good drive until I made a mistake. Let the two reds through and settled for third to get in the final. Final, well that was ruined by Lew. I was having a good race and I gave him a hit for second place. Not hard as I just got alongside him. He then deices that on the next bend, he is going to spin me out. Now normally, this is accidental, but you can clearly see he gets up the inside and then decides to turn right. Well I am afraid I did something I have never ever done in UK Dirt before, not even Legends, and I waited for him and gave him a biggish hit. Now I know this happens in F1, but at least you have to work hard to do it. He made it look so easy. Fortunately for him, I wont be racing often, and I dont believe in carrying rivalries across leagues, but it is fair to say I will make sure that I spin him everytime I want to get past in F2. GN, well this was just bad luck. Got in the middle of a couple of spins, although it did annoy me how easy the cars still spin. Perhaps though I am not used to it. I have some other thoughts, but I will share them with the admin team. Cheers Johno

Thanks once again for the generous sponsorship. Apologies also forputting it down as .com rather than .co.uk. Cheers Johno
