hi m8, (not sure which OS yr on but) in xp u can go into control panel, then system, then click the advanced tab and there's a performance section where you can tailor how your pc prioritises its resources. Virtual memory is listed as 'a part of your hard drive that acts as if it were RAM' and the space you need can be set there. I think the rule of thumb is to have the maximum space set to double the initial space (mines set to 672mb initial, 1344mb max) but u can set these figures yourself. Check the initial and maximum volumes and then try increasing the figures. If the problem persists with larger volume space set, there may be another underlying problem but we'll get to that if we need to rsvp so we know how it went please oh and happy birthday you old fart

......probably for you/us to substantiate various rumours he's heard around the place Zarky, yes there will be a Skeggy shale eventually, but if it's any indication of where this is in the 'priority' list it's a track.....we're already looking at a long list of tracks in the thread and there are more on the way, but given we're all doing this in our spare time (or to put it another way, if someone's getting paid to make mod bits i'd like a slice please ) we can only get through so much without the joys of kids, shopping, tidying up and erm work getting in the way. I reckon i'll have about 4 weeks work in making skeggy into a shale version, but that's because i wanted to make the changes so it looked like the track actually did when it was shale, which adds a bit more work but hopefully means it'll be as people remember it, rather than 'just' a shale version of the current track. Having said all that, it's a track that won't get loads of use, whereas i'm hoping the f2s'll be a little more 'regular' so they come first, but SkegVegasDirt isn't forgotten

if you open ccleaner, either by looking in yr start>all programs or right-click on the recycle bin (if you didnt untick stuff it attaches itself to the recycle bin, so u can right-click on the bin to open ccleaner) to open. When opened, there are buttons down the left-hand side for registry and tools. Firstly, if you've deleted norton, you can go into the registry section and look for redundant links to do with norton (always be careful in registry editors, if you're not sure, don't bin) and then in tools you can uninstall any files allied to norton, then click the startup button to remove any traces of norton in the startup routine. ccleaner's an excellent tool m8, take the time to read the help, it'll see you right

Hi all, It's a long shot but i'm hoping someone can help me.....I've been involved in organising a race night for some rF players on Autosport (the magazine)'s messageboard.....Tads had kindly offered us the use of his server for the evening but hasn't been online all week, so i'm trying to arrange an alternative server. The racing is scheduled for TONIGHT (Thursday 13th Nov) racing Meganes at Silverstone National circuit (the ISI version) and Formula BMWs at Brands Hatch Indy circuit (the 2005 version that was recently released on rfc)......there's only a few of us lined up to race, but if anyone would be able to serve for maybe 10 people it'd be much appreciated. Obviously you're welcome to join us, they're all experienced racers (to the point that I think I'm gonna get trounced but thats another story lol). If anyone can step in it would be muchly appreciated. Any help gratefully received, thanks in advance .... Wrighty

i use avg (7.5) with occasional adaware and spybot scans. In terms of removing norton, i've not had personal experience of it but i use ccleaner for general maintenance, its free and excellent for things like removing registry entries, startup instructions etc.

indeed, there are (or at least i have in mine) 3 common files, commonmaps.mas, sky.mas and terrain.tdf, i've enclosed em in a zip file, ask your m8 to unzip them and then move them to locations folder, should solve the problem commonmaps.zip

the spec does look ok like, i had a look at the minimum spec for rf on the site and yours is way in excess of that....as tads says, try the drivers for the graphics. have you activated your install? (i.e. bought the activation code through the link).....it crossed my mind you might not have a good download there given the problem you've posted....did you use the activation link or have the connection open when you installed? i've never seen this kind of error before but the posted spec looks in order, i'm slightly flummoxed.....

excellent tutorial earache well written and easy to follow, nice job m8 . If i can offer a hint to go with this, i notice you cut the outside of the numbers that overlapped the rip cutout which has the desired effect picture looks excellent....if u do a block of the body colour as a new layer and then cut your rip in that layer, then do your numbers and move that layer down below the layer for the rip effect , because the rip is a cutout anything below shows through, and the numbers remain whole if you save the psd so u can use them again later i'd set it up as below.... rip layer (in body colour) number layer body colour also, try a soft shadow underneath the cutout of the rip for depth, it'll shadow over the numbers and main body colour and bring the cutout 'out' but congrats again, its good to see someone has the time to write down what they do for others to try

post up your system spec please m8 (start, control panel, system.....feel free to blank out the 'registered to' section lol), i'm not using much of a spec computer here, 2ghz amd sempron chip, 1gb ram and the game struggled before, but i got an nvidia 7950 graphics card for 40 quid and it transformed the game, so its not as pricey as you'd think ...... this relies on you having a fairly recent motherboard, so all that glitters etc, but you can rebuild your pc reasonably cheaply now m8 if you shop around

i've had it a few times m8 and its totally random, best way around it is usually to delete the dds from the game folder and then reopen your original and save it again into the game folder. I tend to find if you open the psd then save it again without changing anything it seems prone to alpha-ing, try deleting something u dont need or draw or colour off the panel area then save the dds into the game folder, it seems to prefer the file to be 'different'
