  1. a riveting read excellent stuff, thanks to all involved.......nearly made me want to book in!! (easy there, i said 'nearly' )
  2. check your avast settings, it might be seeing the exe file as a virus. We've had no reports since release of an infection in the file.....
  3. going with the bairn to see him on Sunday.....cannae wait
  4. yaaaay many thanks to Jeff, Hooty and Grasser for putting up with my ceaseless and noobie questions, and thanks also to Drumb for the AIW files and Grasser for the (as always) outstanding loading pics.... we'll have the final version out in a few weeks, so just imagine for the minute you're just off the ferry lol cheers again, hope you like
  5. hmmm its a weird one but i've had a root around.....couldn't find anything related to this in the rsc forum (but i'm going to have 'waiting for forum.racesimcentral.com....' on my headstone lol, thats a bloody slow board) but i've found a couple of links on google to the '0x7c910ef4' code...these appear to relate to an iexplore.exe problem (and i think rf uses the explorer windows system) so this may help: (from this thread) might be worth switching that protection off then trying rfactor again, just in case your windows is protecting you from responses to an exe command. aside from that, i'm baffled.....the other apps that had this problem suggested a re-install good luck, rsvp ........ wrighty
  6. lol gdgd, well if you can add the missus to a zip file on here so others may solve their firewall problems the same way, that'll be excellent thank you
  7. hi m8, can you do a screenshot of the 'memory' tab on the second screenie please? i'm concerned as to why it says '2,048kb (25% used)' on the screenie.....also, with the 5500 graphics, do you need to go into rfactor config and turn it down to dx8 to get it running and turn the graphics levels down in-game?
  8. Replied here Have tried the best I can but still nothing but haven't a list of allowed programs either. My security system is AVG and to be honesst I'm not understanding any of it. Any help would be great. Cheers jefftec hmmmm ok, avg doesnt use an exclusion list, i should've said firewall really.....what firewall do you use, is it just the standard one in xp? Hi, just standard xp firewall cheers jeff ok, well plenty work around that, but i'm not altogether sure how (i'm on a router so thats got its own built-in firewall so i've got the windows one turned off). You could try a cleverer firewall like zonealarm, that allows you to set permissions for certain processes (i used to use ZA with heat without a problem, once its set up) and it is (or was) free. Download available here at Cnet , if you check the screenshot you can see the 'program control' section, where you'd allow nheat.exe and heat.bin two-way access, which should cure the 'hostname not resolved' issue. Don't forget, once ZA's running, to disable your windows firewall. cheers, as always let us know if it works for you

  10. Iam using the correct ip address i go into muit player type ip address in click find and it just keeps coming with the above messagel sounds like your anti-virus is blocking it. If your av software has a list of 'allowed programs', you need to add (i think its) nheat.exe and heat.bin into the allowed list (use your computer search to locate the files by name). To connect online, your computer sends out a 'ping' to the host server (the address you inputted) and will wait for a reply from the server - if your av blocks the incoming reply, you get the 'hostname not found' message. If you tell us what av you're using, i'm sure someone here'll use the same and may be able to assist further. Let us know in any event how it goes please. cheers...........wrighty

I've been having a mooch about and the original hosting site) lch/rapidroy) is now defunct, as well as the other sites listed on the mod squad mod list.......i've got it here but its 14mb so its too large for attaching to the post.....if its important i can upload it to megaupload or somewhere but there was never a uk oval track legends skinpack or anything, so really its down to how bothered you are. lemme know if its urgent, thnx

  19. if you copy and paste the ui.res from the nascar heat install or a mod that includes its own ui.res (the offline rods did, as an example....there was a few of the old non-stock car mods that did) and put that into the 'run' folder, any mod that you install after that will find the ui.res and use it as part of the install process
