Thanks for that Corny, did not know that about the replays. I can see in Heat 2 that I had been bashed around by passing cars and was trying to hang in there going onto the inside next bend and Harmen was pushing me across the rumble strips hence why I made contact with you. I thought I had spun you out but I am pleased to see that you only went sideways and were then able to exit the bend, although obviously losing some time. Had another look at the W&Y last bend - I am a little surprised not to get an apology or mention from Mav (esp as I referred to it in chat) after he reversed down onto the racing line just as I was passing, to send me crashing up onto the inside banking - hence retaining the 4th place I would have taken from him. Mirrors, sir, or was it tactical?!

Would it be possible to post the server replays please, as my pc does not seem to have recorded my early races for some reason?

This was a meeting where once the blues and reds caught me up (not long) I was guaranteed to hit trouble, probably involving facing the wrong way and already out of the top 10. I did get one early 11th which wasn't a bad effort although my customary position Felt bad about spinning Corny in a gaggle of cars, I lifted off the gas after I think I went in hot up the inside but still must have had too much speed I guess. Definitely not a track I get on with, my pace is a good half second off most cars, I played around with the gearing and felt reasonably fast 'on my own' (LOL) but it made no difference. Still enjoyed it though and was a bonus to race as thought I would not get permission as it was my missus' birthday The Grand National seemed to get a bit mad Can't remember how I go at Scunny - rubbish I think

Sounds good - well done Matty in advance of confirmation it's in.

RESULTS: Kings Lynn - British Drivers Championship

Decent meeting run at a good pace but with plenty of banter. I enjoyed it. Top performance Mav. -
Yep Mav's 30mph gave me a chuckle too, still at least he was willing to steward And well done to Mav Jnr - I had good races with him, he has calmed down nicely Matty I have had a look at Heat 1, it was indeed a cracking battle up front and a good watch, but I worked my way fairly steadily down the field before settling into a frustrating 11th for the last few laps, here's the replay anyway. In case anyone doesn't know, the server packed up partway through the GN. Most of us got back in after the server was restarted but not everyone. Birmingham_2006_56.zip

Despite the server problem leading to a later than normal finish, I thought this was a cracking meeting. Just missing out on a top 10 in all races upto the GN, it was rewarding to get a 9th in that and avoid a duck. It was superb to see a healthy number of white tops, and especially some new (to me) faces - seemed to be some real characters in there too, I hope they will all keep coming back for more, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves anyway.

I couldn't make this week's meetings which was a downer, especially seeing how many raced Thursday night. A mixed bag of comments but sounds a cracking meeting. Well done Matty on your Final win, especially from blue top. Hope the new faces enjoyed themselves and become a regular feature. I am hoping to be back next Thursday although might be a bit of a rush beforehand.

Well done on blue, Matty.

Didn't actually realise you had won the GN, Mav, as I retired from the race early and had to make a quick exit off the pc - amazing result m8, really well done!
-
Lucky me, I didn't realise I got a point! Not sure how I've got 10th in heat 1 but I'll take it. I felt pretty rusty and the graphics were giving me jip later on in some of the races, and when that didn't happen I messed things up anyway. So not one of my better meetings, but good to see Mav back and going well.

Waqar has confirmed he still can't load the new version just like I can't. Just wondering if we should be using the new version in future if more than one driver can't load the track and could run the previous version ok?
-
Shame about what sounded to happen earlier, but if Mavjnr can drive like he did in the GN and also in last week's meeting, he can both enjoy himself and do well without causing any bother for himself.

Thanks to those who have tried to help out, but after deleting the Buxton folder, making sure there was no Buxton HAT file, making sure I have set the Config to DX9 & then running the installer from the website, I still can't load the track and get the same error message about "Error loading PEAK for material HORIZPEAK". I'll have a night off and watch some darts.
-
Still struggling I'm afraid, trying Matty method. So after the above, are you left in the Buxton folder with various files called Buxton (with file extensions AIW/CAM/GDB/SCN/TDF) plus the Buxton8, BuxtonFog and BuxtonHR folders? I still get the same error message.
-
Yes, definitely on DX9. Just tried turning the Circuit Detail to High, effects up etc, but still exactly the same error message.
-
I still get the same error message after deleting the HAT file.

Good comments Jakie

Thanks for trying, Johno. I tried deleting the folder (because I over-wrote last time), then copying in the new one, but still get the same error sadly.
-
I notice Waqar mentioned he could not get the new Buxton to load, and I seem to be getting the same thing. I installed the new version, and it failed to laod. I then remembered Buxton has to have DX9 setting in rFactor Config rather than my usual DX7 setting. Howver, this made no difference now - I get an error message of "Error loading PEAK for material HORIZPEAK". Anyone else struggling or any ideas?

Have been scouring the points charts following SpikeJnr thinking I had won a race in rFactor since he started, and am sad to say the points charts seem to prove I haven't! I was hoping my fading memory was playing tricks on me and I had managed a glorious win at some stage I agree with Johno that the chat and banter was plentiful yesterday and added considerably to enjoyment of the meeting. It seems like a little extra time between races for this purpose could be useful. Thanks for the kind comments Tosh & Matty, I do my best I didn't notice at the end of the meeting that Waqar had got a 7th in GN - awesome m8, some well deserved reward. I got away well in my first heat and it took a while for a couple of fast guys to join me, but 4th was brilliant. The next heat went pretty well too, with another top 10, but it was downhill from there, I was in some kind of incident in all my other races, but the racing was excellent, and as has been mentioned by others, it was terrific to see some new/returning faces. Another great meeting. Buxton could be difficult for me, but I'll see how it goes. Any World Championship points there will be a bonus.
-
Good to see that Speed enjoyed his first meeting last week, and felt he was treated ok - this is the way forward, keep it up all. As has been stated, F1 rFactor is a very difficult formula to race well on-line, so lots of encouragement for other drivers is a big help.
-
I am pleased to hear moves towards an easier-to-drive feeder mod, and also that possible advertising of an open meeting(s) might happen, both sound good ideas. I found myself empathising with virtually everything Mav said. The point I agree with most strongly is that the group of really fast drivers who have a great time racing each other really do give the impression they don't want people getting in the way, and often that means new drivers who are having a nightmare trying to adjust, get abused in chat, often on their debut, and may well think to themselves that I aren't wanted & I don't need this. How about introducing a ban on comments (other than positive ones) about a new driver in chat or the forum for at least their 1st three meetings?
